2018 Summer Games Done Quick For A Cause: Doctors Without Borders

The Games Done Quick  event is a speedrunning gaming marathon that allows volunteers to play games at intense speeds as the event is broadcast live worldwide. Volunteers and those watching are encouraged to donate to the partnered charity cause and for this year’s Summer Games Done Quick 2018, the partnered charity is Doctors without Borders, also known as Medecins Sans Frontieres

The annual speedrun fundraiser is partnered with Doctors without Borders this year to draw in charitable donations for the cause. Doctors without Borders is a not for profit charitable organization that provides medical aid to those in need regardless of gender, race, financial means, location, and preference. The team of doctors drop into the global zones that most need a humanitarian savior, areas such as refugee camps, war zones, and other migrating crowds, providing health care and medication that is more often than not lifesaving for many helpless souls. Currently, their biggest missions are providing aid to the refugees fleeing from harsh rule under the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, the men and women forced out of their homes due to the political unrest in Yemen, and the humanitarian crisis on the border of the United States of America and Mexico where thousands of families are left stranded and separated countries apart.

The Summer Games Done Quick 2018 aims to raise funds for this humanitarian organization and urges viewers, supporters, and fellow members of the gaming community to open their pockets and make impactful contributions. A little goes a long way and a little from those who can afford it can do wonders for those who can’t.

The event is well underway at the DoubleTree Hilton Hotel in Bloomington, Minnesota. If you’re in the area or would like to make your way there, don’t miss your chance to go try out hundreds of games all the while finding the satisfaction in your heart that your enjoyment played a part in making someone else’s life worth enjoying too. The marathon runs for a week till the 30th of June, 2018, at the same venue and hundreds of hours of thrilling gaming is expected to come out of it.
