Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is bringing plenty of new features that we have not seen in the previous games. These include a dialogue wheel, romance options and the ability to choose between a male and female character. But the excitement does not stop there, there are other things to look forward to as well. The game’s director, Scott Phillips, revealed new details regarding Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and the following is what he had to say in this regard:
“It’s a bigger map overall. The biggest map we’ve ever built. It’s got a lot of sea, of course because we’ve brought back seamless naval. So there’s a lot of area to explore on the land and on the water. It’s a huge map filled with tons of content, places to explore, people to discover, stories to experience, and quest as well.”
While the map in Origins was pretty big and there was a lot of things to do in the game it seems that this new game will have an even bigger map. That is something to be excited about for sure. Phillips also talked about the progression of the game and the following is what he had to say about that:
“We built our own based around the same lines as Origins. We’ve got 50 levels of progression. As you kill enemies, as you get certain types of – if you do a certain type of assassination you get more experience. As you discover locations, or complete locations, or complete quests you’re going to get more experience points. As you get more experience points you get more levels, and those levels give you access to more abilities. And those abilities change the way you play the game. So it’s constantly progressing.”
In many ways, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey seems to be a new experience and while it is a new direction for the company, I am not completely sold, at least not right now. I could feel differently once I have played the game for a few hours but an Assassin’s Creed game without Assassins just does not seem like much to me. You might feel differently.
