Dead Rising

open world zombie game
Dead Rising
  • Release Date: August 8, 2006
  • Developer: Capcom

Dead Rising takes place in a shopping mall that is infested with zombies, and the story’s protagonist, a photographer named Frank West, must find a way to stay alive by employing unusual weaponry and relying on his wits to get through the chaos.

Along the route, he comes across a large number of other survivors; some of them want his assistance, while others are looking to murder everything that is alive. Even though Dead Rising was released almost fifteen years ago, it is still regarded as an outstanding addition to the zombie genre even to this day.

When it comes to the storyline, zombie games may be hit or miss, with some completely omitting the genesis of the zombie horde while others center their attention purely on the relationships between the people. Dead Rising does a fantastic job of covering all of its bases, unveiling a diabolical, politically driven vengeance plan with a non-stop onslaught of twists and turns.

This game is a knockout. As Frank’s study into the causes of the zombie horde grows nasty, the game lays everything out on the table with a time restriction and compels players to remain involved for the sake of the story.

Combine all the elements we listed above, and you have the Best PS5 Zombie Game to experience in 2023. So, if you missed playing the game when it was released, maybe now is the right time.

Pros:

  • The main narrative tends to be intriguing without infringing the action element of Dead Rising.
  • There is an infinite number of zombies you can kill in the most hilarious ways.
  • Dead Rising offers an exceptional art style in contrast to other games of this genre.
  • A plethora of stuff to unveil and try out as you progress through the game.
  • Dead Rising has one of the most astonishing sound effects which keeps the player immersed.
  • The loading screen does not take much time to complete in Dead Rising.

Cons:

  • A large number of escort missions eventually become tedious to complete in Dead Rising.
  • The save system and the real-time game design are constantly at probabilities.
  • Enemy AI is monotonous and predictable in Dead Rising.
  • Dead Rising appears to lack the significant gameplay changes that its predecessor games brought.

Dead Island Definitive Edition

hack and slash zombie game ps5
Dead Island Definitive Edition
  • Release Date: September 6, 2011
  • Developer: Techland

A first-person view is utilized throughout gameplay in Dead Island, much like Fallout. You start out with just melee weapons, but you may switch up the whole thing with straight punches if you want to. This is not recommended, however, unless you have just no alternatives available, as undead prefer to attack in groups and need numerous strikes, even when you’re carrying a rather robust metal spike.

Throwing tools at attackers is another option, and doing so with blades or meat cleavers results in extremely rewarding one-hit executions. Even though they have a finite lifespan and will eventually get damaged, armaments may be fixed at any of the several workbenches that can be found strewn throughout the island.

Because this is also an RPG in addition to a simulator for beheading zombies, your protagonist will get XP for defeating enemies and accomplishing things. It will allow them to level up and become more powerful. If you level up, not only will your character’s existing statistics improve, but you will also receive a skill point that may be used toward the development of one of the many different skill trees that are exclusive to that character.

The original Dead Island was great, but the definitive edition is even more good-looking and, without a doubt, one of the best PS5 Zombie Games to experience in 2023.

Pros:

  • In terms of visuals, Dead Island Definitive Edition is a step up compared to the original game.
  • The combat system is greatly enhanced and immersive.
  • Dead Island Definitive Edition contains extra downloadable content with a new game plus mode which is enticing.
  • The gameplay mechanics seem less buggy than the classic game that provides a smooth experience.

Cons:

  • After some time, the gameplay can get repetitive in Dead Island Definitive Edition.
  • Several glitches still surface throughout the game which can mar the immersion of the player.
  • The retro revenge system is a tad sluggish.
  • Some technical hiccups such as frame rate drops can be an annoyance in Dead Island Definitive Edition.

Strange Brigade

fps zombie game ps5
Strange Brigade
  • Release Date: August 1, 2020
  • Developer: Rebellion Developments

It’s all really cliche and ridiculous, and the tale of Strange Brigade doesn’t really have anything more going on. The few cinematics are designed to resemble classic movie trailers and come replete with a narrator who is charmingly exaggerated.

The action from one moment to the next is not slowed down in any way by any of the collectibles that may be found strewn around the levels to provide background information on the people and the universe.

You may explore the labyrinthine crypts and ancient, overgrown towns in Strange Brigade on your own or with up to three other players in cooperative play. Playing alone is exactly what it sounds like; there are no computer-controlled companions to assist or obstruct you. As a result, you have more time to admire the enormous views and exquisite theming of the many stages.

The stages adapt to the number of players in your party, giving you additional foes to battle and new challenges based on the problems you’ve already encountered.

Strange Brigade is a different take on zombie experience, but still, we count it in the list of Best Zombie Game for PS5 that you can play co-op or solo.

Pros:

  • There is plenty of content available which will keep the player enrolled throughout the game.
  • Strange Brigade offers a variety of unique game modes with different mechanics.
  • The customization system is diverse and offers a ton of fun options to modify your character in Strange Brigade.
  • The action element of Strange Brigade is intriguing and fast-paced.
  • Some brand-new modern game settings enhance the experience of the player in Strange Brigade.

Cons:

  • The world and level design are shallow and terrible in Strange Brigade.
  • Eventually, the gameplay gets repetitious due to the same missions and bland combat system.
  • Some missions overstay their welcome and ruin the overall pace of the game which can be really frustrating for many players.
  • The dialogue and narrative are poorly written in Strange Brigade.
  • Visuals and gunplay are underwhelming which is off-putting and tarnish the immersion.

The Persistence

persistence ps5
The Persistence
  • Release Date: July 24, 2018
  • Developer: Firesprite, Fabrik Games Limited

The action of The Persistence begins off on board a galactic settlement ship, where players assume the role of security officer Zimri Elder or, more accurately, a clone of her. Elder, who is given the story from a first-person pov, is forced to battle mutants when it appears that the rest of the crew has been exterminated.

Fixing the spacecraft and making it back to Earth alive is the ultimate objective of the game, but doing so won’t be simple. This is due, in part, to the roguelike qualities that are present in the game.

The gameplay in The Persistence is straightforward but nonetheless entertaining, as players have access to both ranged and melee weaponry. The latter provides players with a system that is similar to parry and is simple to learn but challenging to master, whereas the former does not provide players with a limitless supply of ammo and the finances necessary to purchase it.

However, these are rather insignificant issues with the game’s design, and the vast majority of them are easily ignorable given how impressive the majority of The Persistence is. It’s not just a smooth transition from VR to consoles & PC; it’s also a horrifying and one-of-a-kind blend of roguelike and first-person horror.

Pros:

  • A spooky and mysterious environment will keep the players on their toes all the time in The Persistence.
  • In terms of visual and audio design, The Persistence is quite immersive and engaging.
  • Weapons feel extremely satisfying and powerful to use. They provide an enthralling experience throughout the game.
  • The multiplayer mode is engaging and extensive in The Persistence.
  • The Persistence delivers a great blend of horror and FPS elements which is incredibly enticing.

Cons:

  • Occasionally, the difficulty spikes in some battles which makes it really frustrating to progress through the game.
  • The lack of variety in enemy types makes The Persistence very boring and dull to play.
  • Even though the multiplayer mode is expansive, it does feel extremely easy in terms of difficulty.
  • Several item spawn issues might irritate some players in The Persistence.

Zombie Army 4: Dead War

zombie army 4 ps5
Zombie Army 4 Dead War
  • Release Date: February 4, 2020
  • Developer: Rebellion Developments

When you initially start up Zombie Army 4, the most striking change you’ll notice is how much more polished everything appears. Even if it were a cheap shot to make an entry out of this, the huge graphics enhancement would still stand out. The formerly washed-out appearance of the characters has been completely eradicated thanks to the upgraded lighting system.

The visual quality of these games has never been lower than it is right now, but it has also never been higher. Not everything, including the Survival brigade, was given a fresh look in the update. In this edition, the zombies continue to have the same repulsive appearance as before.

Zombie Army series of video games will give you the adrenaline and push to murder undead with AI companions or players, and for this reason alone, we can’t help but list this title as the Best PS5 title for Zombie video Games to play in 2023.

Pros:

  • The addition of myriad new mechanics improves the already highly in-depth gameplay of Zombie Army 4.
  • The gunplay is well-designed and highly alluring which offers traditional zombie shooting action with rising intensity.
  • Zombie Army 4 has masses of replay value.
  • You can unleash a horde of your zombie troops onto your enemies which is quite satisfying to execute in Zombie Army 4.
  • The online play is massive and brimming with lots of content that frequently gets updated.

Cons:

  • The customization options are severely lacking in Zombie Army 4.
  • It does not have a strong solo campaign and primarily focuses too much on multiplayer which is a turn-off for many players.
  • Zombie Army 4 has innovative but relatively simplified settings.

Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse

Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse
  • Release Date: 3/16/2021
  • Developer: Wideload Games, Aspyr, THQ Nordic

The beginning of the game is purposefully designed to be puzzling and challenging for new players who are coming to Stubbs without the advantage of nostalgia. Your only true incentive is an unquenchable need for precious, yummy brains, but there is not much in the way of a narrative as to why you’re playing as an undead.

Stubbs’s game is obviously showing its age in terms of its visual design. You have no choice but to continue stumbling on from here on out until you find out the truth about what caused your passing and rise from the dead.

The game concept and advancement contribute significantly to the impression that the gameplay is overly linear. It is nearly impossible to take another path or view the situation from a different angle; the doors and tunnels have been shut to force you ahead in the unwavering pursuit of vengeance.

Although the game is too antiquated and linear to recommend properly, and some of my good memories of it were tainted by revisiting it, the fundamental gameplay still has enough to keep you engaged.

Pros:

  • The main storyline is extremely engaging and a fun experience.
  • Some unique boss battles will keep the player regaled throughout the game.
  • The mini-games are very engrossing and hilarious in many ways.
  • The humor of the characters will often make you laugh and keep you entertained.

Cons:

  • The graphics seem outdated and are not on par with modern games.
  • It has repetitive gameplay which may be a deal killer for the majority of players.
  • There is no map system which makes it really hard to navigate in the game.

The Last Stand Aftermath

The Last Stand Aftermath
  • Release Date: 16 Nov 2021
  • Developer: Con Artist Games

The Last Stand: Aftermatch is a unique spin on the zombie title genre, and regardless of it, the game will not disappoint you. That is why we think the title deserves to be included in the best PS5 video games fans of the genre should experience in 2023.

The Last Stand is not a survival game in the traditional sense, but it is possible that you may die repeatedly. Here, fortunately, death is not the end of the story. After your initial death, which happens very swiftly, you wake up as a brand-new recruit locked in a cage. You have no memory of your previous life.

It is a roguelike that focuses on zombie combat, and this aspect comes through really well. It has been established that your demise is inevitable; in point of fact, all that is required of you is to maintain your life as long as needed in order to assist the other people who have survived.

You are now infected, but despite this, you have been selected to leave the complex in order to make your final stand and to assist in locating resources and knowledge about the outside world.

The information is then shared with other people who survived, and each new game reveals a little bit more of the reality of the situation about why there is a fresh wave of zombies attacking the colonists.

Acquiring new information not only helps you improve yourself but also improves your chances of surviving in the long run. Knowledge is required for a variety of different improvements, including those related to the player’s body, fighting, survival, and engineering.

Pros:

  • The Last Stand Aftermath offers an amazing visual presentation and captivating graphics.
  • The game features a number of distinct mechanisms that highlight its survival horror aesthetic.
  • Some authentic survival and intense moments will keep you on your toes throughout the game.

Cons:

  • It’s a pretty duplicative gameplay pattern that grows more tiresome the more you progress through the game.
  • The narrative is barebones mostly because not much effort was put into it.
  • The controls can be tricky at first and it may take you a while to get the hang of it.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies

Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War Zombies
  • Release Date: November 13, 2020
  • Developer: Activision, Treyarch, Raven Software

Zombie mode is mostly unchanged from its predecessor in Black Ops Cold War. The vast majority of the fundamental concepts that Treyarch has introduced to the mode over the course of all these years are preserved, but they have been distilled down to their most enjoyable components.

The greatest illustration of this can be found in the Black Ops Cold War map, which takes the earliest Nazi research lab from the first World War Zombie map but also transforms it into a contemporary Zombies experience that is significantly larger than the classic.

A gun rarity mechanism has been added to Zombies. Everyone who has experienced an MMORPG or other role-playing game should find this mechanism to be rather interesting. The rarity of firearms can range from common to uncommon to rare to epic to legendary, with legendary being the most uncommon.

Each rarity increase deals greater damage and offers a different assortment of attachments, which are chosen at random. The mystery box, which is the signature feature of the mode and spits out arbitrary weapons, can give you weapons of any rarity, though it is more likely to give you weapons of higher tiers later on in the game.

Perhaps each and every aspect of Zombies has been integrated into the other game modes of Call of Duty. That means the XP you obtain in Zombies mode will count toward your overall rank in the multiplayer portion of the game.

Pros:

  • The movement and gameplay are drastically enhanced compared to the previous Call of Duty Zombie games.
  • It offers a unique variety of maps that are rich in detail and offer an immersive experience.
  • Newest perks machines. All of Cold War’s perks have amazing new designs. The Dark Aether variations of the jingles are also terrific and give the environment a gloomy mood.
  • The zombies provide a great challenge and keep the player engaged throughout the game.
  • The outdated fault of weapons being terrible on high ammunition was corrected with the weapon rarity system in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies.

Cons:

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies is riddled with bugs and glitches which can degrade the experience of the player.
  • The points system is extremely lacking compared to the previous game. You only earn points by killing the zombie which is annoying.
  • There is not enough content or any sort of expansion which can be underwhelming for some players in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies.

World War Z: Aftermath

World War Z Aftermath
  • Release Date: September 21, 2021
  • Developer: Saber Interactive

World War Z is a cooperative first-person shooter for up to four players in which the goal is to achieve targets while fending off waves of zombies. The need to work together to complete objectives is emphasized throughout the game; if you try to be a hero or solo zombies your way through a stage, you won’t go very far.

World War Z: Aftermath maintains these characteristics while also introducing additional components that contribute to an even scary game overall. The new perspective, which is presented in the first person, is a really welcome addition. It takes you into the action more, which results in a more intense game experience overall.

In particular, the mode makes certain subtle adjustments to the way shooting and movement are handled so that they are compatible with the new viewpoint. Then again, moving about and shooting your weapon while viewed from the third person is not like doing so while viewed from the first person.

The addition of melee weapons was a welcome surprise, given that they were absent from the game’s predecessor. The AI is intelligent, in contrast to the mindless zombies. If your group is performing especially well, the gameplay will challenge you with more difficult zombie types, such as adversaries that are clad in full combat gear.

Pros:

  • The co-op promotes strategy-based gameplay in World War Z.
  • The AI system is on top of the shelf and robust.
  • A number of unique new melee attacks and captivating first-person mode will keep the player enrolled throughout the game.
  • World War Z has cross-platform which is extremely exciting for many players.

Cons:

  • Missions seem very identical in the new episodes which are sub-par in World War Z.
  • The first-person mode might not be everyone’s cup of tea.
  • World War Z is plagued with bugs and glitches which can be a turn-off.
  • Some poor designs and the lack of horde XL mode are some of the reasons to not come back to this game.

Dysmantle

Dysmantle
  • Release Date: 16 November 2021
  • Developer: 10tons Ltd

The art design and unique take of Dysmantle on the zombie video games is the reason alone we think fans should play this title on PlayStation 5 as it is by far the best horror game to try in 2023.

If you blend Terraria/Minecraft mode’s crafting mechanics with improved aesthetics and a survival horror theme, you get a baby called Dysmantle. The game’s focus is on zombies. It is situated in an open world, as mentioned, and the quest and upgrade paths of an RPG, and there is this whole other side to the game, which, as the title says, is that you’ll need to demolish anything.

Gear is broken into various groups. You have clothes that will shield you from harm and the environment, equipment such as armaments such as a baseball bat or a hatchet, items like shovels and other construction equipment, as well as ornaments that will provide you with a variety of various benefits.

However, due to the fact that you can only wear a limited quantity of each, proper management of your existing inventory will play a significant role in the gameplay.

Having mentioned that, it might strike you as odd since a significant portion of this game consists of bashing your way through walls and breaking apart various pieces of furniture in order to progress.

Pros:

  • The world is massive and filled with plenty of mysteries to uncover in Dysmantle.
  • The main storyline is incredibly engaging and alluring which keeps the player immersed.
  • The spooky audio adds to the tension of the diverse and intriguing atmosphere in Dysmantle.
  • Combat is addictive and there is plenty of diversity in enemy types which makes it more interesting to play.
  • A decent amount of depth is included in the crafting and leveling system.

Cons:

  • The resource gathering eats up a lot of your time and can be a tedious process in Dysmantle.
  • Survival mechanics are not the best in addition to the gear-based upgrading system.
  • After some time, the skirmish encounters feel duplicative and mundane.
  • Some enemies are not well-balanced and can be a pain to deal with in some situations.

DayZ

DayZ
  • Release Date: December 16, 2013
  • Developer: Bohemia Interactive

Bohemia Interactive is the developer and publisher of the open-world zombie survival game known as DayZ. Launching on Steam Early Access for the first time on the 16th of December 2013, the game went on to get over five years’ worth of major upgrades and improvements before finally departing early access.

Although we do not have information on the number of individuals that play DayZ on consoles, the community on Steam often peaks at over 35,000 active players and maintains an astounding average of 31,000 online players, which places it as the third most popular survival game on Steam. Also, consider reading the Dayz Bios Error fix guide and learn five ways to fix it.

Sadly, DayZ does not benefit from the cross-platform multiplayer features; however, it does support cross-generational multiplayer. It means that PS4 and PS5 players can company together on a server. Also, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S console players can enjoy the cross-generation feature.

Pros:

  • The PvP aspect of DayZ is engaging and immersive.
  • The open world is expansive and packed with tons of stuff to experiment with in DayZ.
  • Animations and character designs are top-notch and stimulating.

Cons:

  • A plethora of graphical bugs and glitches surface throughout the game which is lackluster.
  • The control system is clunky and problematic for many players in DayZ.
  • It can get very bland if you are playing a solo campaign.
  • DayZ’s main streamline is a multiplayer mode which is sometimes off-putting because of the lack of a good campaign or any kind of narrative.

7 Dayz To Die

7 Days To Die
  • Release Date: 14 December 2013
  • Developer: The Fun Pimps

Video game platform compatibility for the survival horror title 7 Days to Die includes Windows, OS X, Linux, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. The objective of the game is for the player to stay alive during an outbreak of zombies.

You begin the game with practically zero weapons, and your knuckles are the only weapon you have access to. You have to search for food and water while evading undead and other PvP gamers who can attempt to murder you. You should also try to find weapons.

As is the case with the vast majority of video games, the longer you play, the more challenging the game becomes. Some of the undead evolve into more powerful forms as time goes on and darkness approaches, gaining enhanced capabilities such as greater speed or strength as they do so.

Yes, both the PS4 and PS5 versions of 7 Days to Die are compatible with each other. It follows that if you are playing the game on your PlayStation 4 and your buddy is playing it on his or her PlayStation 5, then the two of you will be able to participate in the game concurrently. You will not be required to buy a separate physical or digital copy for each console that you own.

This video game is not only incredibly well-liked by players, but it has also garnered praise from gaming reviewers.

Pros:

  • There are numerous distinct tools and items in the game that keep the player regaled thoroughly.
  • The addition of new enemy types is something that the previous games were lacking.
  • It offers a riveting premise which is eye candy for veteran players of the series.
  • The building system is enhanced and extremely fun in many ways.

Cons:

  • Some technical issues such as choppy frame rates make it hard to play the game even on a high-end PC.
  • The game’s world has a lifeless appearance which can be a drag.
  • The loot system is terrible which can hinder the pace of the game resulting in slower progression.
  • On consoles, 7 Dayz to Die hits rock bottom in terms of optimization.

Back 4 Blood

Back 4 Blood
  • Release Date: 12 October 2021
  • Developer: Turtle Rock Studios

Expanding upon the tremendous foundations laid by the Left 4 Dead series, the amazing co-op zombie shooter Back 4 Blood has a card-based perk system and immensely enjoyable gunplay. Back 4 Blood is an exceptional game in the genre. However, if you want to play by yourself, you should probably steer away from it because the design is obviously geared toward several players.

It is most accurately described as a first-person shooter video game in which players work together to eliminate zombies from the world. It challenges you to battle your way through a narrative campaign either in groups of four or by yourself, shooting swarms of zombies while frantically attempting to get from one safe chamber to the next.

The visual style and mechanics are almost identical to that of Left 4 Dead. The sole notable variation is the inclusion of a significantly expanded tutorial, which gives you the mission of completing the first four episodes of the storyline with AI bot allies as the game teaches you its different fighting and equipment management systems.

The deck-building feature of the game has been advertised as the distinguishing trait of Back 4 Blood, with the goal of adding endless replay value to the basic story mode of the videogame. As soon as you make it to the main core of the game, which is a military facility for people who survived, you will be presented with the feature.

The devs behind Left 4 Dead did not disappoint with Back 4 Blood and that is why we believe this title must be in your list of the best PS5 games of 2023.

Pros:

  • The gunplay is enticing and rewarding in Back 4 Blood.
  • Incredible co-op mode is extremely addictive and fun to play.
  • A great mix of a unique script and an engrossing narrative entails a phenomenal plot.
  • The difficulty system is well-designed and provides the game with heaps of replay value.
  • The card system is innovative and has a decent amount of depth.
  • The level structure is on top of the shelf in Back 4 Blood.

Cons:

  • PvP options feel restrictive and lacking in Back 4 Blood.
  • The single-player mode is an underwhelming experience.
  • As you progress through the campaign, melee combat becomes less frequent which is sub-par.

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction
  • Release Date: January 2022
  • Developer: Ubisoft, Ubisoft Montreal

Extraction is a first-person shooter video game that is geared for online play and focuses on the pursuit of terrifying monsters within confined areas. It’s about acquiring intelligence and rescuing downed teammates who have fallen victim to the new danger that’s been introduced into the fight.

It is a capable expansion of the R6 Siege world, as seen by the presence of well-known players like as Vigil and Doc. It is an excellent adaptation of its new material, with a slew of sinister antagonists, such as grunts, spikers, bloaters, and more.

Provided that it is a spin-off endeavor that originated as a limited-timed event and then debuted about three and a half years ago for an entirely different game, more on the narrative front would have assisted me in worrying so much about the protagonists who were putting their lives in danger for the sake of salvation.

Who knows? But given that it is the case, it is important to keep in mind that this is the case. I have a feeling that the same will be true for new players who are not experienced with Siege in any way.

Pros:

  • Alluring gunplay will keep the player invested throughout the game.
  • The combat system is challenging and engaging in Rainbow Six Extraction.
  • A wide range of character skills and the upgrade system make the game more fun and addictive to play.
  • Rainbow Six Extraction offers a broad selection of weapons that kill enemies with a rewarding lethality.
  • Players are urged onward by the progression track’s positive incentives.
  • Each raid is split into interlinked territories to add tactical complexity to either thriving immediate goals or planning missions for the future.

Cons:

  • The main narrative is meaningless and unappealing in Rainbow Six Extraction.
  • Missions eventually get repetitious which is lackluster.
  • Rainbow Six Extraction is not the best for solo play.
  • The shortage of content makes it feel like an expansion rather than a complete game in the series.
  • Combat-focused missions clash with stealth-oriented missions.
  • Rainbow Six Extraction lacks consistency and feels vague.

Resident Evil 2

Resident Evil 2
  • Release Date: January 25, 2019
  • Developer: Capcom

An antiquated but much-loved game from the 1990s was remade into a cutting-edge horror masterpiece in the form of Resident Evil 2, which serves as an excellent model for how to carry out a remake of a video game.

The recreation of Resident Evil 2 is captivating throughout its whole. It’s like taking a lesson in how to create the perfect ambiance and setting. It is an entertaining mixture that combines many types of gameplay, such as action, riddles, and narrative.

The presence of rotting corpses littered about piles of bodies, overbearingly shadowy and menacing corridors where horrendous things could drift from any direction at any instant, and an immense feeling of hopelessness all contribute to the fact that the facility’s splendor has been turned on its head as a result of the zombie situation.

It has all the hallmarks of a classic Resident Evil game, including a plethora of challenging puzzles, hundreds of temporary off-limits sections to spark the player’s creativity, and, of course, a good helping of terrifying adversaries, chambers, and set pieces to leave the player’s heart racing.

The Resident Evil 2 remake is the perfect example of how developers should go above and beyond to create something unique out of the original titles. The overhaul is massive and rather significant here, and this alone is the reason we place RE2 as the best game to play on PS5 if you never played it when the game was released.

Pros:

  • Resident Evil 2 has some great graphics and sound design compared to other Resident Evil titles.
  • You can play as two different protagonists and experience different scenarios in Resident Evil 2.
  • There is a number of unlockables and various game modes you can get your hands on after completing Resident Evil 2.
  • Resident Evil 2 does a fantastic job of revamping all the terrific events that happen in the Classic game.
  • The atmosphere is even more intense and terrifying in Resident Evil 2 in contrast to the Original game.

Cons:

  • Some sections in Resident Evil 2 get bothersome due to the frequent pacing errors.
  • The movement speed feels a little sluggish and could have been better in Resident Evil 2.
  • A few inconsistencies occur during the story mode which affects the pace of Resident Evil 2.

Dying Light

Dying Light
  • Release Date: 26 Jan, 2015
  • Developer: Techland

In Dying Light, you take on the role of Kyle Crane, a person of interest who has been set with executing a prominent local politician in the city of Harran, which has been overtaken by the zombies. You’ll discover yourself engrossed in the day-to-day challenges of people who survived and splinter groups as you strive to accomplish your task. This won’t give away too much of the story, but it will keep you busy.

The story is well told, and the developers did an excellent job at keeping the players interested in the campaign of the game. Considering how well some of the game’s mechanisms already work, the new feature is not strictly required; nonetheless, it is very much appreciated.

You will spend most of your time in the game sneaking through a city that is overrun with infected people-turned-zombies. You are fortunate to have parkour talents that enable traversing obstacles to be an enjoyable experience rather than a challenging one.

In Dying Light, you won’t only be limited to running the entire time. It is possible to engage in quite an amount of violent activity, such as smashing zombies’ heads in with a sledgehammer or setting up traps to incinerate a large group of infected individuals.

The game’s mission structure, on the other hand, is where it falls short of expectations. The majority of the time, you will be required to go from one location to another, either to retrieve stuff, do errands, or simply move around. It is never reduced to a tedious task because of the game’s engrossing fighting and movement systems.

Pros:

  • The parkour is a thrilling and intense experience in Dying Light.
  • The open-world element of the game is enthralling offering compelling exploration.
  • Intriguing side missions make Dying Light an amazing experience.
  • In terms of graphics, Dying Light looks outstanding.
  • An exceptional cast of characters breathes life into the already immersive storyline of the game.

Cons:

  • In the long term, the pacing takes a severe hit which negatively influences the story of Dying Light.
  • There are far too many missions that are either dull, annoying, or just downright awful.
  • Some issues occur in online play which makes matchmaking unstable.

Days Gone

Days Gone
  • Release Date: April 26, 2019
  • Developer: Bend Studio

Well before Days Gone was released, most people dismissed the game as yet another typical zombie game, giving the impression that the game resided in the silhouette of The Last of Us, which was developed by Naughty Dog. Connections to The Last of Us aren’t completely accurate, despite the fact that Days Gone isn’t especially unique and doesn’t accomplish anything to set itself apart from other games.

Even if the first few hours of the gameplay leave a lot of room for improvement, what really sets Days Gone apart from the other games is the bond between Deacon and Boozer, as well as the two of them looking for a cause that is worth going to war for.

As the player spends more time with Deacon, it becomes clear that his extended period of isolation has taken a mental toll on him, as he appears to derive an abnormal amount of joy from murdering large numbers of zombies or even savages.

Even though Days Gone had a rough start when it was released, but after all these years and back-to-back updates for the game, this game is a different beast now in the zombie genre. If you love blowing brains out, an open-world zombie game, and above all, love to ride the bike, then consider Days Gone as a top-tier zombie game and the best PS5 game to play in 2023.

Pros:

  • Days Gone effectively illustrates the storyline as a multi-season saga.
  • The enactment of Hordes is on top of the shelf in Days Gone.
  • The survival mechanics are encouraging and well-balanced in Days Gone.
  • Days Gone provides a massive world with plenty of side quests to experiment with throughout your journey.

Cons:

  • Days Gone has some cumbersome switches between gameplay and cutscenes.
  • The missions are quite repetitious in Days Gone.
  • At some events, the game just feels far too stretched just for the sake of making it long.

The Last of Us Part II

The Last of Us Part II
  • Release Date: June 19, 2020
  • Developer: Naughty Dog

The Last of Us Part II is a stunning example of how a video game can successfully combine gameplay that will stop your heart, a breathtaking environmental narrative, and moral complexities that will make you anxious. Despite the fact that it employs many of the conventions associated with zombie outbreak stories, it is not limited to those narratives.

Because of the way that The Last of Us Part II is structured, by the time we reached a conclusion, we desired nothing more than for Ellie to give up murdering due to the obvious mental trauma that it had been causing to both her and others around her.

Players will experience moments throughout the second part of the storyline in which they will be hesitant to hit the button since doing so will result in harm being dealt to some other individual. What a surreal sensation The Last of Us Part II has given to its player base!

The copious amounts of quiet that are spaced all across the storyline are what makes it feasible for us to withstand the degree of brutality. It is just as enjoyable, for instance, to follow Ellie and Joel as they make their way around a museum as it is to see any of the action scenes.

The characters are given opportunities to experience instances of visual delights, such as situations when they become lost in the splendor of a setting or the companionship of another personality. They become considerably more lovable and emotionally engaging as a result of this method.

The Last of Us Part II is one of the finest video games that I have ever played, and I really hope that it was good enough to justify it for the devs to put in all of the work.

Pros:

  • In terms of graphics, The Last of Us Part II is one of the best-looking games on PS5.
  • The voice actors and cast of The Last of Us Part II are spectacular and keep you engaged throughout the game.
  • There are a lot of different places to explore and side content available in the world of The Last of Us Part II.
  • The enemies are realistic and the combat system is intriguing in The Last of Us Part II.
  • There’s a decent blend of new tools. The upgrade system is interesting and well-balanced in The Last of Us Part II.
  • You can craft new materials and various collectibles are available throughout the game which makes The Last of Us Part II interesting.

Cons:

  • The animations in The Last of Us Part II get repetitive after some time which is lackluster.
  • The storyline pacing gets dragged down as you progress which is not good.
  • The exploration segment of The Last of Us part II is too vast that it gets tiresome after a while.
  • There is not enough diversity in adversaries.
