There is no denying the fact that Disney Dreamlight Valley is easily one of those games on which you can get hooked pretty badly. The fact that it is filled to the brim with engaging side quests that require you to go out of your way to complete them just reinforces it. Speaking of, there are two important quests in Disney Dreamlight Valley that require you to gather an important resource: The Seaweed.
- The Seaweed in Disney Dreamlight Valley is one of the very important resources that you can acquire.
- There are two methods for obtaining seaweed: Collecting Seaweed from the Ground and Fishing for the seaweed.
- You can not use Seaweed directly but it can be used to make Fibre which is important in making various kinds of things such as Beach Torches, Fences, Baskets and Rope.
- So you can see that seaweed is a resource that you need to have.
- However, in case you fail to obtain suffficent amounts of Seaweed then you simply won’t be able to craft a number of materials. Completing some of the quests also becomes impossible if you don’t have Seaweed.
In our guide, we will first discuss the methods available to get seaweed and how to make those methods even more efficient. Then we will discuss the possible uses for Seaweed. So strap up and prepare to get yourself some Sea Marijuana.
How To Get Seaweed
When it comes to methods available to obtain Seaweed, there are only two of them. One requires you to pick it directly off the ground, and the second one requires you to do some fishing. Now let’s discuss each method in detail.
Collecting Seaweed From The Ground

This one is pretty straightforward; all you need to do is roam around the valley looking for Seaweed which is waiting for you to pick it up. However, there is one caveat about it, once you pick up the Seaweed from one location, it never re-spawns. This means that you can get Seaweed using this method for only so long before you eventually run out of places to pick it from.
This makes the first method not so reliable in the long run when farming for Seaweed. However, we recommend that you should still try to make the most out of it. Now that we have told you about the first method, the time we showed you the second one.
Fishing For Seaweed

The second method for catching Seaweed is by a mile superior to the first one. The reason for that is that it allows you to get your hands on an infinite supply of Seaweed. The method we are talking about is fishing. When using fishing, you don’t have to worry about running out of Seaweed at all.
Preparations For Fishing Seaweed
All you need for this method is a fishing rod (obviously) and a fishing buddy (well, this one is optional). You can get the fishing rod from Goofy in the very early stages of Disney Dreamlight Valley. As for the fishing spot, although you can use any fishing spot available in your game, we recommend that you go to Dazzle Beach as it allows you to get the most bang for your buck.
Now for the fishing method itself, when trying to fish for Seaweed, the traditional fishing method where you have to cast your reel where the bubbles appear will not work. As doing so will only give you fishes that you don’t need right now. Instead, you want to cast your reel in the area where the water is stagnant, and no bubbles are appearing.
If you followed the instructions mentioned above correctly, you should be getting a steady supply of Seaweed and also a bunch of low-level fishes. But there is still one thing left that can make your quest of getting Seaweed a cakewalk. It’s to bring along a fishing buddy (hopefully, you didn’t think of Goofy, as we all know how annoying his overly energized personality can be).
Bringing a fishing buddy with you will double your Seaweed gains since every time you catch a Seaweed, they too will also get one. It goes without saying, but this will cut the time you need to catch your required number of Seaweeds in half. So make sure to bring along some company when you go fishing for Seaweeds.
Seaweed’s Uses In Disney Dreamlight Valley

The following and final section of our guide will cover all the amazing things you can make using Seaweed, as well as its role in completing some quests. When it comes to uses for seaweed, you can’t actually use it directly. However, you do need it to craft Fiber which is an absolute must for crafting many things in the game.
Examples of instances where you will need fiber include Beach Torches, Fences, Sacks, Baskets, and Hay-bales. You also need fiber to craft rope, which you need to complete “The Mysterious wreck” quest and also to repair Moana’s boat. So we think it’s safe to say that you should have a hefty amount of seaweed if you are serious about making some progress in the game.
