Multiversus is the next competitor title in the genre of platformer fighting games. The game has made a dramatic impact on the scene offering a total of 19 playable characters so far. These include iconic Warner Bros franchise stars like Batman and Bug Bunny. We can even expect New & Future Characters in the game down the line too. The game itself is shaping up to be a fantastic competitor title to other games in the genre like Smash Bros & Brawlhalla. However, despite the heavy praise, Multiversus is facing some issues like the KBI tutorial not working properly, so today we will entail a known solution for the bug.
Key Highlights
- The KBI, also called “KnockBack Influence” is an important mechanism in the game which lets you counter back the damage.
- Many players cannot complete the tutorial due to Wonder Woman’s shield bash damage which instantly eliminates you.
- However, it’s relatively simple to resolve this issue and that is to hold the analog downwards and then to the left to avoid getting kicked off the area.
- Then depending on the console, while holding down the analog, press the Xbox or PS button but the timing has to be right before Wonder Woman’s bash eliminates you.
- If you’re on PC, the procedure is somewhat the same as you have to press ALT+TAB keys before Wonder Woman is launched off the arena.
The game has had several issues plaguing it most prominently players being unable to connect to the servers as well as a few other bugs and glitches. The game is much more diverse and complex in combo variety and mechanics than most other games like it.
The alpha and beta releases seemed to have garnered a positive reception from the player base. Unfortunately, aspects like the KBI Tutorial not working and bugged out have players stuck and irritated about it in Multiversus. So before we even begin, let’s discuss what the “KBI tutorial” exactly is in the game.

What Is The KBI Tutorial In Multiversus

The game has quite a heavy roster. We have even covered a Tier List of all the Characters in Multiversus which detailed some of their brief gimmick attacks and strong suits. But before you can try each of these heroes out, the game has a dedicated tutorial that teaches you all about the basic & advanced techniques or mechanics.
The KBI tutorial is one of them and the term stands for “KnockBack Influence” inside the game. It is essentially a mechanic that the game teaches to you in one of the tutorials which let players counter the knockback damage. It is quite a helpful and simple trick that most Smash Bros players might know about already.
Generally speaking, the simplest way to beat it ends up costing players more issues than one. The main issue that players seem to be facing is due to the character in the tutorial, Wonder Woman. She was buffed after the balancing patch during the Closed Beta, this change ended up increasing her shield bash damage.
It is the only move the AI of her uses in the game to launch players upward into the death zone so you may complete the tutorial. But now it ends up KO’ing instantly which is extremely annoying for several players. However, there is no need to worry as now we are going to discuss the best workaround to this tedious problem.

How To Solve The KBI Tutorial Not Working

The tutorial is pretty lenient when it comes to being in the category of advanced tutorials. The mechanic is done by using your directional buttons as an anchor to avoid getting thrown into the death zones of the match. Which is easier said than done for most players unless Wonder Woman prevents you from accomplishing it.
It is quite easily explained by the in-game prompts of holding your directional button such as the analog stick on consoles, downwards, and to the left to avoid getting flung out of the arena.
Players over in the Steam Support Forums of Multiversus as well as the Reddit and Discord communities have managed to conjure up a certain loophole to the problem. It is specifically tailored for both Console users and PC players over on Steam. So far, there are not any conventional methods for the problem in the game.
The trick to fixing the KBI tutorial getting bugged and not working properly in Multiversus is not rocket science or something too hectic to resolve. Most players should be able to easily complete it and bypass it using a particular workaround discovered just recently by the player base of the game.

Playstation & Xbox
There are some reports leading to believe that players can complete it after a few tries of getting launched over and over again. Although that may be the case, it doesn’t seem to work for everyone. The controls for completing the tutorial on all consoles like the PS4 & PS5 or the Xbox Series X are the same.
However, it has been discovered that players can quickly bypass the entire tutorial with relative ease all thanks to a specific trick that anyone can apply through the following short steps:

- The trick involves using the home screen buttons of the PlayStation & Xbox.
- Follow the Onscreen instructions as shown in the game to complete the tutorial.
- You will need to hold the analog stick down in the bottom left direction as shown in the image above.
- Whilst holding it down, you also need to press the PS button or Xbox icon button on your controller.

- The timing to press the home button of either console from your controller has to be right as Wonder Woman’s shield bash animation is done halfway.
- As you can see in the image above, you need to press it as the white sparks from the action are done.
- Once she hits you with it, keep making sure you have the analog stick in the direction explained.
- It should’ve successfully worked if your Wonder Woman is back in the arena instead of getting KO’ed.
Weirdly enough It will take some time to get the timing down but we can confirm it works for just about everyone who was facing the issue. It weirdly works due to the game not registering the death screen animation once you press the home screen button on both consoles.
Steam Users
PC users who are playing the game on Steam can opt to do the same method as mentioned above, aside from it there are no other fixes that can be applied to that version sadly.
According to reports on various Steam discussion forums about the game, players can warp back to the arena by simply pressing the ALT+TAB keys right before WW is launched off the arena. It works the same way as console users can do with the home screen button on their controllers with the only difference being the keys.
The only difference is that you need to Alt+Tab to your Windows OS right before that in the same way as explained above. Besides that, your only other hope is to wait out for a patch to release that may fix this issue.
Verdict
Multiversus might’ve been released worldwide but the game is still far from an official release state. The game is currently released as an Open Beta which means a lot of balancing and testing is still being worked on as of now.
Players who had been eagerly awaiting to play the game were excited to learn every new mechanic found in it. However, the issues of the KBI tutorial not working and bugging out in Multiversus is one of the few of many problems holding back the true potential of the game.
We can only hope that the developers, Player First Games will soon address and polish these kinds of bugs sooner than later. It is worth pointing out that you do not necessarily have to complete the tutorial for anything besides learning the knockback influence mechanic, which we have already explained in simple terms.
We hope this error fix helps you overcome the annoying KIB tutorial completion in the game. Let us know if you are enjoying the game or not now that it’s finally out for everyone to play as well as your favorite character in the comments box below!
