A good number of the unlockables in Destiny 2 are in plain sight, requiring a questline completion to gain access. However, there are a few items in the game that are tucked away behind a series of quests. Festival of the Lost secret triumph is another addition to the growing list of secrets in Destiny 2 that Guardians should explore before 2021 Halloween comes.

- There are a few different ways to farm Cipher Decoders, such as completing the Haunted Forest, the Nightmare Hunts, and the Dares of Eternity.
- Once you have enough Cipher Decoders, you can unlock chests that will trigger a quest from Spider.
- Completing the quest from Spider will reward you with a secret triumph.

What is the Festival of the Lost
Unlike Trinity Ghoul that does not have a fixed questline to unlock the exotic bow quickly, the Guardians are in for a treat if they are hoping on the path of unlocking the secret triumph. Every Halloween, Destiny 2 brings in an event called the Festival of the Lost. In this event, guardians participate in Halloween-themed activities to get special rewards and consumables. One such special reward is a triumph called the triumph of the Looking Glass. This guide will cover how and where to get the Festival of the Lost secret triumph.
The Cipher Decoders are the key to unlocking the secret triumph in Destiny 2. They are easy to get, but obtaining a particular amount of this consumable item will demand much dedication and time. However, we have a couple of methods highlighting the farming process of Cipher Decoders. Once you have the required amount of this item, all you need to do is unlock chests that require Cipher Decoders. Doing so will trigger a quest from Spider, and completing it gives you the Festival of the Lost secret triumph.

How to Get 45 Cipher Decoders
Cipher decoders are special consumable items dropped from participating in the event or activities, such as Strikes, weekly Nightfalls, and Raids. To unlock the Festival of the Lost secret Triumph, a.ka ‘The Looking Glass,’ you need to do the usual grind in Destiny 2 to collect the Cipher Decoders. The grinding element is because Cipher decoders have a very low drop rate chance, hence the grind-fest. However, we assure you that there are a few “less time-consuming” ways you could do instead of going through the pain of grinding for hours on a daily basis.
To progress faster with the Festival of the Lost secret triumph guide, Nightmare Hunts is the first thing you should do. We recommended you do the one where Skolas boss spawns. It is because this Nightmare Hunt takes significantly lesser time than other Nightmare Hunt missions. Of course, to beat this particular mission at a faster pace, you need a team that is well-versed with the mission objectives involving Skolas.

We also have another way for you if, for some reason, you do not want to go with the Skolas Nightmare Hunt mission. Another way to farm these rare Cipher Decoders is simply to patrol on the Moon. Guardians should go to the Moon and talk to the NPC Toland and start the patrol. The Moon patrol is very easy to do so, and its difficulty is comparatively very low. Completing the patrol missions also has a good enough drop chance for Cipher Decoders. So, hop on to your sparrow and patrol the Moon.
How to Use The Cipher Decoders
Let us assume you made it through the grind-fest and successfully received 45 Cipher Decoders. So, what is next? Well, now that you have all 45 Cipher Decoders in your possession, you should head out to the Haunted Forest event. However, before you do that, just make sure it is the firewall version of the mission because you can go into the mission solo, and avoid wasting time in matchmaking.
Once you are there, you would need to beat the first boss. After killing the first boss, what you need to do is become AFK for 15 minutes. When you come back, you will notice a ‘No Respawning’ prompt. When you see that, simply kill yourself, and instead of respawning at the checkpoint, you would instantly spawn to a chest room. Once there, use your Cipher Decoders and collect the goodies from chests. You will need to repeat this process until all 45 Cipher Decoders are exhausted while unlocking the chests.
How To Get The Secret Triumph
After collecting the loot from the chest room and having used up all of your Cipher Decoders, you can look at the tangled shore, and there you should notice that the NPC Spider actually has a quest marker for you. So, head back there and talk to him to progress the Festival of the Lost secret triumph guide. The quest is actually going to give you a new item, called the Ascendant Lens. After collecting this unique item, you automatically unlock the looking glass triumph.

That is pretty much everything you need to know about the secret triumph related to the Festival of the Lost in Destiny 2. If you think we missed something, or the steps mentioned above could be done a tad bit better and quicker, let us know about them in the comments section below.
