Pros:

MultiVersus

Although there are not a lot of parallels between Multiversus and Gotham Knights, the beat-em-up battle techniques and the presence of Batman and Superman in the best characters list should be familiar enough for you to test out this game.

The Smash Bros. formula is used for MultiVersus as its foundation. You and up to three other players may engage in combat on a single field of play at the same time. The objective for every participant is to do enough damage to their rivals to force them outside of the playing area.

The roster doesn’t quite measure up to the size of the more well-known ensemble of Smash Bros. Ultimate, but it’s off to a fantastic start anyway. When most players initially log in, they won’t have access to most of the squad, which means they won’t be able to compete with other players with all the players that want to take in the first go.

Marvel’s Spider-Man

Marvel’s Spider-Man is highly skilled at creating the impression that the stakes are really high, that bad deeds are truly horrible, and that the repercussions are legitimately distressing. The same cannot be said of Gotham Knights, but the game does have its share of highs and lows that give you the impression that you are a hero battling your way through a horde of bad guys in order to keep your city safe.

The high standard that is established in the storyline of Marvel’s Spider-Man casts a stronger perspective on the activities that are included in the remainder of the game. There are many optional tasks available in this game, the vast majority of which diverge from the primary plot.

While most side quests overlap in the game’s main chapters in Gotham Knights, the intensity is not as much as you can see in Marvel’s Spider-man.  Nevertheless, it is fair to claim that developers attempted to combine side missions with the main ones, but they were unable to do it to the same extent as Insomniac Games did.

As Spider-Man, you get an unending sense of satisfaction from swinging about New York City. It is a simplistic system that does not place an excessive amount of strain on the inputs. We are unable to say the same about Gotham Knights’ traversal, which was butter smooth in the majority of Batman games but not this one.

Pros:

• Marvel’s Spider-Man features a gripping, personal, and incredibly well-written story.
• The game looks incredibly gorgeous and is filled to the brim with details.
• Web swinging is the most satisfying it’s ever been, making traversal a lot of fun.
• Combat has taken inspiration from the Arkham series, and is very in-depth.
• There are a lot of gadgets and tools players can use mid-combat or in stealth.
• Side missions are fun and feature various villains such as Tombstone from the Spiderman comics.

Cons:

• The stealth is incredibly lackluster and repetitive. Enemy AI never adapts to your moves.
• In combat, the gadgets are too overpowered and do not invoke strategic use.
• The Mary Jane sections are very boring and break the pace of the game.

Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 takes a significant amount of inspiration from its original source, both in terms of the world itself and the life and death of Johnny Silverhand. In contrast to a role-playing game, you don’t get to create your own character in Cyberpunk 2077; rather, you take on the role of V.

With the exception of the gear or progression systems, there aren’t many similarities between Cyberpunk 2077 and Gotham Knights. In both games, the only way to advance in the game is to obtain melee weapons or equip legendary items, and you have to beat the living crap out of your enemies.

The more you advance through the game’s main storyline and complete side objectives, the more powerful your characters will become. This element is present in both Cyberpunk 2077 and Gotham Knights, and by the time the player reaches the last chapter of either game, the main protagonist has evolved into an almost godlike version of themselves.

The role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077 is incredible, and the RPG mechanics allow for a great deal of customization of characters to fit a variety of different play styles. The most engaging and relatable moments in a video game are often found in the game’s optional tasks and characters; Gotham Knights is no exception to this rule.

Pros:

• Cyberpunk 2077 lets players explore a gorgeous, futuristic neon city.
• The story and fate of the characters revolve heavily around the player’s choices.
• It features incredibly well-written and fun side quests.
• Combat is fun, allowing for a melee or a ranged shooter approach.
• There are a lot of great fashion items, allowing your V to be as stylish as possible.
• Since the glitches have been fixed, the game is receiving a lot of new content.

Cons:

• There are some choices in the story that do not have any effect on the characters.
• AI tends to be dumb sometimes.

Middle-Earth: Shadow Of War

The Nemesis system in Shadow of War gives each of the game’s formidable Orc Captains a unique set of advantages, disadvantages, and personality characteristics and populates the game’s world with them. Although Gotham Knights do not have a Nemesis system, the gameplay of both games is extremely comparable in terms of the combat system.

The fighting in Shadow of War is a quite fluid and natural feeling. It enables you to defeat monsters in one-on-one combat while also allowing you to maintain command even when confronted by a dozen or more foes. You get a very similar response when you are circled by foes ranging in size from little to huge, like in Gotham Knights, and you have to take them out one at a time while avoiding the attacks of others.

The adversaries you confront in Shadow of Mordor gain experience and levels with each fight you engage in against them. You will always be required to continually improve each fortress, which may be done either by increasing the size of your existing Orc army or by recruiting new warriors to replace the ones you have lost. At the same time, the RPG elements of Gotham Knights and the level system of both characters and foes will continually force you into a cycle of gaining better gear and playing the narrative while completing optional goals.

The two games are quite different in a number of ways, yet they are very similar in the way they handle combat. We believe that this is also due to the fact that both games are published by the same publisher.

Pros:

• Just like Shadow of Mordor, Shadow of War features an interesting story set in the Lord of the Rings universe.
• The Nemesis system makes a return, allowing you to interrogate or make Orcs serve you.
• With the Nemesis system, you can even make your own army.
• The combat is similar to Batman: Arkham series, just with swords instead of fists.
• The open world is full to the brim with fun side content and gorgeous landscapes.

Cons:

• Some parts of the game feel dragged on.
• The true ending of the game is locked behind an arduous grind.

LEGO DC Super-Villains

On paper, it would be a fantastic concept to create a game that is focused only on the antagonists from DC Comics rather than following the Lego Batman approach. However, allowing all of DC’s villains to participate in the game has the unintended consequence of emphasizing just how feeble DC’s whole cast of bad characters is. This is a terrible side effect that was never realized until the LEGO Batman game was released.

We believe this issue was bypassed in Gotham Knights since the developers did not include each and every villain from the DC Universe in the main plot or any of the side quests. Dealing with all of them at once would have been a terrible idea. Or providing the opportunity for players to see the game from the point of view of a villain.

Although there is still a lot of joyful chaos to wreak in Lego DC Super-Villains, it is the same type of carnage we’ve seen in previous Lego games. When taking on the role of any of the game’s antagonists, you may expect to have more opportunities to unleash devastation on Metropolis or Gotham City, but this is not the case.

Still, if you want to have a fresh perspective of DC Universe after you’re done playing Gotham Knights, playing a Lego DC Super-Villains video game should be your first rodeo.

Pros:

• Lego DC Super-Villains turns the tropes upside down, with the villains being the good guys.
• Players can even create their very own villains.
• The game’s story is very enjoyable and well-written.
• There is also a local coop in this game, allowing you to experience the story with a friend.
• The game features iconic locations such as Gotham City, Arkham Asylum, and Metropolis.

Cons:

• The characters are obviously inspired by Legos which is a totally fine thing but it may not appeal to some.
• The combat is pretty basic as well.

Injustice 2

The strengths of the previous game have been carried over into Injustice 2 Gods Among Us, but at the same time, the game’s mechanics have been refined and improved. You can’t deny the pure delight of playing through the game’s plot, despite the fact that the game is a beat-em-up title that cannot be compared to games like Gotham Knights. This is something that you just can’t do.

One of Gotham Knight’s flaws is that it lacks a compelling narrative that can hold your interest for long periods of time. If you haven’t played Injustice 2 before, you may be shocked by how well it still stands up in the year 2023. The title grabs your attention with a succession of mini-sequences that culminate with DC superheroes and supervillains engaging in combat with one another.

It is quite simple to lose track of time playing Injustice 2 due to the unprecedented quantity of single-player material available to investigate, most notably the Multiverse mode, as well as the high skill ceiling that the game has.

At its core, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is a game that conveys the message that it is important to fight for one’s family after it has been established. You will find a similar purpose in Gotham Knights, as all of the members of the bat-family combat crime in Gotham City every other night for the sake of one another and are willing to sacrifice their lives for one another.

The origin storyline has already taken place in Guardians of the Galaxy, and the player is now playing catch-up on what the characters already know. This aspect of the game’s progression is quite similar to that of Marvel’s Spider-Man, which was developed by Insomniac Games. A situation that is more or less similar to this one may be seen in Gotham Knights, in which we do not witness the origin of any of the four heroes but are instead granted control of them after Batman dies.

The decisions you make in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy won’t have an effect on the campaign as a whole, but they will have an impact on individual relationships and certain plot developments. You can only achieve the best results if you pay attention to what other people are saying and respond in a way that addresses the problems and issues they raise. 

Pros:

• Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy features a fun, well-paced story.
• The Guardians are given a lot of love, with personal and emotional moments for each member.
• The Dialogue is genuinely funny, showcasing the love the developers put in for each character.
• The game looks beautiful and is full of charm, thanks to its beloved soundtrack.
• Combat is always fun as you will always unlock new abilities relatively quickly.

Cons:

• The game lacks a real challenge in its combat, so it ends up feeling too easy.
• Towards the end chapters, the story feels a little bit dragged on.

Batman: Arkham Asylum

It is quite simple to reach the conclusion that the only reason Arkham Knights is possible is due of the first Batman: Arkham Asylum game. This was the first game that Rocksteady developed, and it was the one that began the Batman universe. They demonstrated that they were capable of developing authentic DC games, with Batman serving as the sole playable character.

Gotham Knights, on the other hand, cannot be compared in any way to Arkham Asylum. Nevertheless, there are striking parallels between the two, such as the combat and the subtle indications that Batman is still present despite the fact that he has sadly died in the game.

You are immediately thrust into the middle of the action when you start playing Batman: Arkham Asylum. You need to do nothing more than keep mashing the attack button and then tap the counter button whenever you see an adversary with a white alarm symbol over his head. • The game features many villains from Batman’s insane gallery of rogues such as Killer Croc and Joker.
• It introduced the “Predator” stealth system where you can take down enemies using a variety of tactics.
• Boss fights are very creative, with some turning the Dark Knight into the prey.

Cons:

• As it is the introduction of the free-flow combat system, it lacks some features such as the iconic “beat down” attack.
• The game features a lot of backtracking, which can be annoying for some people.

Batman: Arkham Origins

Batman: Arkham Origins is quite mechanical in its gameplay. It delivers just what you would anticipate from another entry in the Arkham series, but it does nothing to further the franchise in any way. While most of the mechanics follow into Gotham Knights, the game is still miles shy in terms of story from Arkham Origins. 

The open world in Arkham Origins is much bigger compared to the open worlds in its predecessors, which is easily the most notable change. Gotham Knights is published over nine years after Origins, although the improvements that were included in it are not as well received by gamers as the ones that were implemented in the 2013 title.

Free-flow combat remains the same as it was in previous Arkham games, with the exception of a few new opponent types being added to the equation. The most notable of them is a martial artist who has an attack that must be countered twice rather than once. The animations are still really well done, and it is still satisfying to get into a pattern where you are dealing out damage while simultaneously precisely countering every strike that the opponent makes.

The majority of the battles in Gotham Knights have the same, or very similar, feel as those in Origins, although with a more challenging difficulty level. Enemies sometimes feel like bullet sponges, especially if you play as Red hood. However, we believe that the inclusion of RPG elements makes the combat far more difficult than it ought to have been.

Pros:

• Batman: Arkham Origins features a much more brutal and aggressive Batman at the start of his career.
• The game features the best boss fights in the entire series, featuring rogues such as Killer Croc and Deathstroke.
• It is an open-world game featuring a lot of interesting side missions involving the assassins hunting the Caped Crusader.
• It features new gadgets such as Electrocutioner’s Gloves, enhancing the free flow system.
• The “Predator” stealth system has been enhanced, with the enemies adapting to Batman’s tactics.
• Players get to finally witness the Batcave in its fullest glory.

Cons:

• Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill do not reprise their roles as Batman and Joker; respectively.
• Gliding around the city can feel a bit slow.
• A certain plot twist feels very uninspired.

Batman: Arkham Knight

This title is by far the greatest game you will discover that is similar to Gotham Knights. It has all of the gameplay aspects virtually, but it displays them at least two times better than Gotham Knights did.

When you are allowed the freedom of mobility that you need and deserve, Arkham Knight is at its absolute peak performance. As you make your way through the dense, smoky air, it is such a delight to be able to gaze down onto this beautiful but decaying city below you. The bat symbol creates an arresting shadow in the sky, which draws your attention toward the subsequent target of the operation.

In point of fact, Arkham Knight has a slew of nefarious characters, one of them being the antagonistic figure known simply as “the Arkham Knight.” However, what Batman: Arkham Knight does well, it does really well. Gotham is a brilliant playground full of foes, and Batman’s presence is powerfully felt across the city.

On the other hand, the Gotham Knights title is not serious at all, and the game is in no way a continuation of the previous one, both literally and figuratively speaking. The cooperative option makes it a lot more enjoyable to play, but other than that, navigating Gotham City with the zipline or the batcycle is uninspiring, painfully slow, and unimaginatively boring.

Pros:

• Batman: Arkham Knight finally lets players explore Gotham City in its fullest gothic glory.
• The free-flow combat is at its peak in this game, allowing many more options.
• Players finally get to drive around in the Batmobile.
• The main story is very interesting, showcasing a deep dive into Batman’s psyche.
• “AR Challenges” are much better compared to other games in the series.
• The graphics are top-class and can compete with many games released in 2022.

Cons:

• The “tank combat” involving the Batmobile outlives its welcome very quickly.
• The bosses are disappointing compared to the other games.
• The 100% ending requires you to collect all Riddler trophies, which is a daunting task.
