1. Araknamortar

The first Heavy Bowgun on my list is the Araknamortar. Although it is made from the materials of Rakna-Kadaki, it does not offer any status effects. However, this does not mean that it is not worth using as the Araknamortar is excellent when it comes to doing piercing damage.

As it can use three types of Piercing Rounds, you can trust this Heavy Bowgun against any enemy who is weak against Pierce damage, no matter how powerful it is.

2. Felyne Cannon

6 200 0% 1-1-1 R Severe Average

This is a unique Heavy Bowgun on my list. As you might have already guessed from its name, the Felyne Cannon deals explosive damage. It uses Cluster Bombs as its ammunition. For those who don’t know, Cluster Bombs can deal a good amount of damage with each hit, and they should be used against strong opponents, such as Seregios

  • An important thing to remember while using the Felyne Cannon is to not fire its rounds carelessly.
  • No, I’m not saying this to help you save your communication, but to not damage other Hunters during the process.
  • Cluster Bombs explode upon impact and damage everyone who gets caught inside the blast’s radius.
  • Therefore, make sure to carefully fire your shots as you will end up doing more harm than good otherwise.

Overall, the Veiled Kamaeleon is an excellent Heavy Bowgun in Monster Hunter Rise. It comes with three Rampage Skills: Defense Boost III, Spread Effect II, and Chameleos Soul. The Teostra’s Flames is excellent when it comes to annihilating powerful monsters quickly. It specializes in dealing blast damage and has an attack power of 230. You can also use the Ammo Up 2 skill with this weapon to increase its clip size. This will allow you to land more bullets on your target in a short period. And to make it even more powerful, I’ll suggest you get the Artillery 3 skill for it as it can increase the explosive damage by 30%.

Another excellent Heavy Bowgun in Monster Hunter Rise that can pierce through your target is Baleful Night. It uses Wyvernsnipe Special Ammo. For those who don’t know, when this type of ammo is used, the hunter first lays on the ground and then fires a powerful shot at the target. The bullet is capable of piercing through anything, and it can take down powerful foes quickly.

Baleful Night
Baleful Night

Baleful Night can deal 190 damage with each hit. Furthermore, its Affinity is 30%. In other words, three out of ten bullets that you fire will be critical strikes.

As critical strikes can quickly drain the health of your target, you can use the Critical Boost 2 skill with the weapon to further increase the damage of Critical Hits by 35%. You can also increase Affinity by 20% by using the Latent Power 2 skill, which also reduces Stamina depletion by 30%.

The only downside about Baleful Night is its above-average recoil, as this can make it difficult for some players to control the weapon. Other than that, there isn’t any reason why you should give this Heavy Bowgun a try. To craft it, you will need 4x Tigrex Scale, 1x Narga Medulla, 15x Nargacuga Points, and 42,000 Zenny.

6. Rampage H. Bowgun S

Rampage Skills are pretty amazing, as they can help you take your weapon to the next level. These skills can boost the stats of your weapon and can make it more powerful. Some weapons can use specific Rampage Skills, while others can use any. As for Rampage H. Bowgun S, it belongs to the latter group.

Just like the Heavy Bowgun mentioned above, this one also uses Wyvernsnipe Special Ammo. Therefore, you can use it to empty the health bar of your opponent pretty quickly, that is, if you are accurate with your shots. Overall, the Rampage H. Bowgun S is a great weapon, one that can be trusted in multiple situations.

If you are interested in crafting the Rampage H. Bowgun S in Monster Hunter Rise, you will need 1x Apex Curlhorn, 2x Apex Shockshell, and 3x Defender Ticket 9. Furthermore, you will need 50,000 Zenny.

7. Tigrex Howl II

6 230 -10% R Severe Average

Tigrex Howl II stands out among Heavy Bowguns in the game, primarily due to its utilization of Wyverheart, a preferred Special Ammo type. This ammo allows continuous firing until the charge meter depletes, with damage escalating with each bullet.

  • Landing all shots with Tigrex Howl II using Wyverheart can significantly diminish an enemy’s health.
  • Moreover, the Heavy Bowgun supports Sticky Ammo and Cluster Bombs, providing a versatile and powerful combination for players.

You can first use the Sticky Ammo to knock down your targets, and later use Cluster Bombs to annihilate them. If you’re struggling against Malzeno, the powerful Dragon, you can try using this weapon against it.

Finally, I have Sinister Dreadvolly. Spread-type ammo is extremely powerful, and Sinister Dreadvolley uses them. In fact, it is regarded as one of the most powerful Spread-type Heavy Bowguns in Monster Hunter Rise. This alone is enough to make you try this weapon.

The only downside about the Sinister Dreadvolley is its high recoil, as this can make things a bit difficult. However, its reload speed is pretty amazing and you will be able to deal 220 damage with each hit. Overall, it’s an excellent weapon that can help you bag in plenty of kills.
