How To Win Hide & Seek Against Lucas In Plague Tale Requiem

As you slowly get acquainted with both Amicia and Hugo from the opening cutscene, along with Lucas, another supporting character from A Plague Tale Requiem. You will soon run into a short mini-game where you need to learn the art of stealth and win a game of classic Hide and Seek against Lucas in A Plague Tale Requiem.

Simply follow along with our strategy to complete the objective with ease and scare Lucas in the process of the Hide and Seek game in A Plague Tale Requiem:

Step 1

As you can see from our image above, the first thing to note is that the game will begin once Lucas starts counting down from under the arch. Amicia and Hugo will need to hide from him and survive for at least a few seconds until you are prompted with the option from Amicia to scare Lucas instead.

So as the game begins and he starts counting down from ten, immediately head to the back facing Lucas and take cover behind the ruins as exactly as we have from the image. You will know you’re in the right place because you can also see Lucas from that angle approaching you, so carefully place yourself behind the cover we mentioned and follow along to the next step of this guide.

Step 2

The next step is pretty because, as you can see from the image above, you will want to re-position yourself along the left side of where you were original. Simply sneak over to the left side where the broken window opening is, as seen in the image above, and make sure you’re still crouched, or else Lucas will easily spot you.

So please make your way towards the opening as shown in our image because Lucas will be directly coming towards the spot where you hid originally from the first step. Remain in cover here and follow along with our next step where we mention the next approach that you need to take here.

Step 3

Eventually, Lucas will now prompt you to scare you if you were in the cover position of the first step, but if you’ve been following closely, you can see that he should now be on the backside of the ruins here. Now you just need to wait for the exact time when he moves toward the back so you can quickly jump into the opening to re-position Amicia and Hugo.

Step 4

If you’ve been following along, the next step to do here is quickly hopping out of the window opening, as shown in the image above. Preferably, Lucas should now be behind the cover where you had positioned yourselves from the first step, and we have also highlighted him in our image so you can keep track of where he goes next, which is exactly the small room we were in during step two.

The timing is pretty straightforward as you simply need to move here once he is out of your line sight in the central area as he will always go towards the back side of the arena during the first turn.

Do not worry about alerting him because climbing through openings during stealth sections in the game does not make any sound. Press the ‘X’ or ‘A’ button on your controller if you’re on either of the two consoles or the Spacebar key on the PC to vault over the opening.

Startle Lucas And Complete The Game

To startle Lucas and complete this game section:

1. As Lucas approaches the opening from the Third step, Amicia will suggest scaring him.
2. Wait for the moment when Amicia says, “You know what? We should scare him too!”
3. When Lucas investigates the room and Amicia speaks that line, quickly move behind Lucas.
4. While crouched, fill up his startle meter by scaring him. This usually involves vaulting back over the opening where you came from.
5. If done correctly and swiftly, you should be able to startle him.
6. Be cautious not to get caught, as Lucas will have a different pattern if you’re detected.
7. After startling Lucas, he will leave you, allowing you to continue your journey in the chapter.

Follow this sequence to successfully startle Lucas and progress in the game.

A Plague Tale Requiem has been recently facing backlash for its poor optimization on the PC platform as well as having no option to enable performance settings mode on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S ports of the game. It is frustrating because the game is single-handedly designed for next-gen platforms, yet there was no mention of the framerate mode being absent from consoles prior to the release of the game.

Hardcore fans of the game who had been waiting for the release of A Plague Requiem are clamoring for a fix or any feedback related to the tons of issues with the game.
