Voice acting is something that drives up the value of a video game. It makes the stories more appealing and interesting. It also helps people relate to the characters in the game and form a strong bond with them. However, there was a time when it wasn’t a priority in the gaming industry.

In the PS2 era of gaming, voice acting was more of a luxury than a priority. Since the disk size of the PS2 was small, the entire focus was put on how the game looked and felt. Developers were more focused on providing amazing in-game content rather than worrying about character dialog. Dialogs and the story of the game were conveyed via text and some grunting and mumbling sounds. It was the same with the early Lego Star Wars titles.

What is Mumble Mode in LEGO Star Wars?

The first Lego Star Wars came out in 2005 and it had 0 dialogs and voice lines. All the story was conveyed in the form of texts. In addition to that, different mumbling and grunting sounds were used to show how the characters were reacting to a given situation. And although something like that will never fly today, back then it was considered an amazing idea. Instead of simply using texts, these mumbling sounds made those early games more iconic. And that is why Lego Star Wars the Skywalker Saga Mumble Mode exists.

It is a mode that was specifically added for players who were a fan of the older games. This mode gives them a feeling of nostalgia and creates an old familiar feeling in this new title. It also adds a certain comedic aspect to the game. Seeing characters have a conversation that only consists of grunts and mumbles makes it that much more amusing. It also adds an entirely new layer to the game. Players can replay the entire game in mumble mode after completing the normal story to see how it is different. So, it also makes players want to come back to the game after playing it once.
