What makes us love Mario is that he excels in short- and medium-range scenarios. He has an attack called Galactic Dual Slinger, thanks to which he can fire a total of two projectiles. It is totally up to you whether you want to fire both of the projectiles at a single target or two separate ones.

This can be extremely useful when fighting a group of enemies or a single powerful boss. Each projectile deals around 55 to 65 damage, and there is a 20% chance of getting a critical hit. Furthermore, you will need to choose the two targets manually. 

The second ability offered by Mario is called Hero Sight. When used, Mario will instantly shoot any target moving inside a 21m radius. The attack is so powerful that it deals 100% damage and will one-shot most enemies. Lastly, it has a cooldown of 3 turns. 

Another important thing to remember is there is a chance for Mario to hit targets that are hiding behind partial cover. Therefore, this character can help you out in almost every situation. As for his health, it is set at 600 by default, better than some of the others characters who are unlocked from the start.

Bowser

Bowser is the third and final character you unlock in the game, after Edge and Rabbid Rosalina (a character we’ll discuss later in this guide.) This character is meant for those who like to have an aggressive approach toward fighting their enemies. If you like to make things explode, you will instantly love Bowser.

Bowser’s primary attack allows him to fire an exploding projectile toward his target, which deals 315 to 355 damage. Furthermore, there is a 20% chance of landing a critical strike, which deals a massive 603 damage. If any enemies hide behind partial cover, the attack will also target them.

The interesting thing about the projectile is that when it hits the target and explodes, it also damages all nearby enemies. If any enemy gets caught inside the explosion’s radius, they will get damaged. Therefore, it is ideal when trying to target multiple enemies in a single shot. Furthermore, the attack has a range of 24m, so it can help you target your enemy from a long range. 

Next, we have his secondary ability called Rabbid Mechakoopas. Thanks to this, Bowser can summon 3 Rabbid Mechakoopas, who will walk toward enemies that are close to them and explode on contact. The explosion deals 170 damage, and the fire spread through the explosion can damage nearby enemies as well.

Luigi

Compared to Mario, Luigi has low base health, as it is set to 480. However, this does not mean that you should avoid choosing this character, as he happens to be one of the best when it comes to long-range scenarios. In fact, you can’t find any other character better in long-range combat at the beginning of the game other than Luigi.

First, we have his attack called Sharpshooter. As you might have guessed already, it allows him to target enemies that are far away. However, there is an interesting thing about this ability. The damage dealt by the Sharpshooter is increased with the distance of the enemy.

For instance, if two enemies are standing at a distance of 10m and 20m, the attack will do more damage to the latter. Furthermore, there is a 20% chance of landing a critical hit, which ends up dealing around 273 damage. 

As for Luigi’s second ability it’s called Steely Stare, and it works just like Mario’s Hero Sight. If any enemy moves near Luigi, he will eliminate them with a single shot. The only thing which makes Luigi’s ability superior is the radius, as it covers 31m instead of 21m. Other than that, it’s the same. 

Overall, Luigi is an excellent character, but he isn’t someone who can help you target multiple targets at once. However, if you’re dealing with enemies that are far away, no one can do a better job at taking them down than Luigi. 

Rabbid Peach

If you have played strategy video games before, then you know how important it is to have a healer on the team. For this purpose, we recommend Rabbid Peach. However, the thing which makes Rabbid Peach one of the best characters to use in the game is that she not only offers healing abilities but can also shine in combat.

First, let’s discuss her primary ability, Galactic Triple Troll. Using this, she can fire three projectiles at her target, each dealing 27 to 33 damage. Furthermore, there is a 20% chance of landing a critical strike, which deals 42 damage.

However, even though the attack fires three projectiles, Rabbid Peach can not target multiple enemies in a single attack. She can only fire the three projectiles at a single target. However, it can still prove to be extremely useful as you can use it to take down powerful bosses quickly. 

While Mario has a chance to hit targets that are hiding behind partial cover, Rabbid Peach has a 100% chance of doing that. In other words, no matter where the target is hiding, Rabbid Peach will hit them.

Rabbid Peach’s second ability is called Heal. By using it, she can heal herself and her allies for 20% HP, but they must be within a radius of 13m. Furthermore, the ability has a cooldown of 3 turns. If you have Luigi on your team, it will be wise to keep Rabbid Peach in the party as well. This is because Luigi has low base health, and the Heal ability will be extremely useful to him. 

Rabbid Luigi 

Unlike Luigi, who performs extremely well in long-range combat, Rabbid Luigi is the exact opposite. He can do wonders in short-range scenarios, and he can help you take down enemies quickly.

The primary ability of Rabbid Luigi is Discruptor. Using it, he can throw a disc toward his targets and hit three enemies in a single attack. The disc can deal 60 to 71 damage, and the damage increases with each hit. In other words, the third enemy to get hit by the disc will receive the most amount of damage. 

Just like Rabbid Peach, Rabbid Luigi also has a 100% chance of hitting targets hiding behind partial cover. Therefore, you don’t have to worry about your attacks getting missed. However, keep in mind that the disc has a range of 15m, so it will only hit those targets that are inside this radius. 

The second ability offered by Rabbid Luigi is called Exhaust, and it is a pretty unique ability. When used, enemies within a radius of 17m will deal 50% less damage with their attacks. There is no set number of enemies that will get affected by this ability. As long as they are within 17m, they will get affected. 

Overall, Rabbid Luigi is a great character. His base health is 600, 120 more than Luigi’s.

Rabbid Rosalina

Rabbid Rosalina is the second character you unlock in the game, but she isn’t as good as some of the characters that are unlocked by default. 

Her primary attack allows her to fire a number of projectiles toward her target, which also ends up destroying obstacles getting in the way. If the enemy is hiding behind the cover, it will get destroyed. She fires a total of 12 projectiles, with each one dealing around 24 to 30 damage. Furthermore, there is a 40% chance of landing a critical strike, which does 39 damage.

Now, the first thing you need to keep in mind about her primary attack is that it is for short-range scenarios, as it has a range of 18m. Furthermore, it can only be used on a single target. 

On the other hand, Rabbid Rosalina’s secondary ability could be a reason why some players would choose her. By using it, she can freeze any targets that are within a radius of 14m. Even if there’s a powerful boss in the radius, they won’t be able to move, perform an attack, or do anything until they receive damage. 

Overall, Rabbid Rosalina is a decent character, but there are better options available. 

Rabbid Mario

Coming down to Rabbid Mario, he is a character who can do great in close-range situations, but you can’t expect him to do much other than this. If you want someone to help you deal with enemies in multiple situations, you’re better off with some other character like Mario.

Rabbid Mario’s first attack is called The Dukes, and by using it, he can send out three waves toward his targets. These waves can deal 135 to 162 damage and can hit multiple enemies at once. However, the biggest downside of this attack is the radius, as it is set to 9m only. Therefore, you must be extremely close to your enemies in order for this attack to work.

As for his second ability, it’s called Counter Blow. As its name suggests, if your enemies are using weapon attacks, they are immediately countered with an attack that deals 100% damage. This attack covers a radius of 21m and has a cooldown of 3 turns. While this sounds amazing, it isn’t as great as Mario and Luigi’s secondary attacks, which can quickly take down the target.

Overall, Rabbid Mario is a character who can do well only when he’s extremely close to his targets. Other than that, there isn’t much he can do. 

Princess Peach 

Finally, we have Princess Peach. If we were to tell you about one character you should avoid picking at all costs, it would be Princess Peach. This is because, compared to other characters, the abilities offered by this character aren’t that amazing. 

First off, we have her primary attack called Broom Bella. By using this, she can burst a wave at her targets, which deals around 90 to 110 damage. Broom Bella has an attack radius of 21m, but there is a downside to this. The farther the enemy is, the less damage the attack will deal. Furthermore, the attack will not hit enemies behind partial cover.

Next, we have Team Barrier, which is her second ability. By using this, she can create a barrier that can protect her teammates from all incoming attacks. While this can be useful at times, it isn’t something as great as the secondary abilities offered by other characters.
