What Are Afflicted Materials in MHR Sunbreak?

Monster Hunter Rise Afflicted Materials: Anomaly Quests
Anomaly Quests in MH Rise

Afflicted Materials in Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak are a new addition. However, these are available once you reach the endgame. You can use these materials to craft and upgrade exceptional and rare weapons and weapons such as Master Layered Weapon.

Once you defeat the final boss of the campaign and complete Master Rank 10’s urgent quest, you will be able to collect the Afflicted Materials in Anomaly quests of Monster Hunter Rise. Within the afflicted materials, you will find eight different types, and each is obtainable through anomaly quests’ specific tier.

Afflicted Materials: Monster Fights Mechanism

Getting Afflicted Materials is not as easy as it may sound; you cannot capture these materials to end the fight early. All the monsters in anomaly quests have high health and new moves, making it harder for you to fight.

The monsters have the chance of getting into a delirious state. As soon as it happens, you will see glowing red spots on their body. You have to shoot those glowing spots rapidly, so they may burst. Upon successfully bursting them, the monster will knock out for a short duration.

However, the monster will create a red mist if you fail to hit all the glowing red spots in the given time frame. If you come in contact with the red mist, it will riddle you with the bloodblight. The bloodblight is Sunbreak’s new status condition that gradually drains your natural health recovery, health, and health recovery from items. If you want your health back after the contact, you will need to hit the monster to get it back.

There are no other ways to get rid of the bloodblight if you get in contact with it; you can just wait for it to end. However, to enhance your health recovery while hitting the monster, you can equip Medicine Jewel+ level 4 jewel before engaging in any quest. You can also equip the Recovery Up level 3 skill as it will allow you to heal any damage indicated in red quickly.

Methods Of Getting Afflicted Materials

There are a total of three methods in Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak through which you can collect the Afflicted Materials.

  1. Quest Rewards: You will get two or three items at least on a daily basis by completing the quests.
  2. Carving up a Monster: All afflicted materials have specific monsters. Each time you carve a monster, there will be a 20% chance of getting the afflicted material.
  3. Part Breaks: Upon each part break on those monsters, there is a 20% chance of getting the material.

We recommend you use different skills in order to maximize your afflicted materials yield. The Part Breaks method makes it easier to severe or breaks the monster’s parts. If you have the Part Breaker skill at maximum, then the Part damage will increase by 30%. Furthermore, you can use the Goodluck skill to increase the quest rewards.

To increase the chance of getting an Afflicted material by 20%, you will need Dango Hopping Skewer the Triple Rose Dango. If you complete all the six Arena quests, you will receive the Feather of Mastery armor piece. It comes along with the Carving Master Skill that will allow you to carve a monster one additional time.

How To Get Various Afflicted Materials in MHR

In Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak, players can find eight unique Afflicted Materials during their playthrough. You will need to take on different monsters to get each afflicted material. Once you unlock the Sunbreak’s Master Rank, go to the Elgado Outpost.

There you will have to interact with a Knight of the Royal Order whose name is Fiorayne. She assigns quests that give you a chance of getting the afflicted bone.

Bone

MHR Sunbreak: Afflicted Bone
Afflicted Bone Material

In crafting material, the afflicted bone is a Master Rank crafting material that is new in the Sunbreak DLC. The purpose of Master Rank is to encourage players to go on anomaly quests, hunts, and expeditions to collect rare items for their armor. You can find the bone materials in a Bonepile; however, the rare Afflicted Bone is present somewhere else.

All over the MH Rise Sunbreak map, you will only find three monsters that will drop afflicted bone in an anomaly quest. They are:

  • Lagombi: In Citadel and the Frost Island, you will see a huge, fanged beast monster. The monster will attack you with ice and inflict iceblight. We recommend you keep Nulberrys while preparing to fight.
  • Volvidon: In Sandy Plains, Citadel, and Lava Caverns, you will find a beast who is also huge having fangs. Volvidon is capable of inflicting paralysis on you but has weakness from ice and water attacks. Fire and Dragon attacks are of no use in front of Volvidon as the monster is immune to them.
  • Arzuros: You can find the monster in Flooded Forest, Shrine Ruins, and the Citadel. The monster swipes a player with his thick claws only as he has no specific special ability. Use Fire and Dragon attacks as they are his weakness, and avoid water attacks as he is immune to them.

These are the monsters that will give you the afflicted bone; however, there is only a 20% chance of getting the desired material from a Master Rank anomaly quest. You might need to fight against more than one monster if you need a larger amount of Afflicted Bone. The Citadel is an ideal location as you will find all the monsters there.

You can use Afflicted Bone to craft weapons such as the Lagombi Decider Great Sword, the Chrome Heaven Great Sword, the Wyvern Gnasher Great Sword, and the Lightning Shredder Switch Axe. You can also use it to craft decorations such as Hard Dragon Jewel, Might Bow Jewel, and Hard Bolt Jewel.

Pelt

Monster Hunter Rise Afflicted Materials: Pelt
Afflicted Pelt Material

There are four Afflicted monsters in Monster Hunter Rise who might drop Afflicted Pelt Material once you kill them. Make sure that you are defeating the monsters through Anomaly quests and not the normal ones. You will not be able to get any Afflicted Material if you kill a monster in a regular quest.

The Afflicted Monsters you need to fight for the Afflicted Pelt are Great Izuchi, Great Wroggi, Great Baggi, and Kulu Ya Ku. If you use the Carving up a monster or Parts break method, then there are 20% chances of the monster dropping an afflicted Pelt.

You can craft Jewels such as Hard Frost Jewel 3, Hard Blaze Jewel 3, and Hard Stream Jewel 3. When it comes to weapons, you can also craft and upgrade weapons like Antique Machina GS, Kamura Fine C. Blade, and Reaper Blade Boldus.

Blood

MHR Sunrise: Afflicted Blood
Afflicted Blood Material

For the afflicted blood, you will first need to access two-star Anomaly Quests. To unlock the MR 20, you will first need to defeat Master Rank Ibushi so that the two-stars anomaly missions are playable.

There are four different monsters that give you a chance to collect Afflicted blood. They are:

  • Tetranadon: A large Monster of Amphibians Species having a threat level of 2 is hostile in close range. You can find the monster in Shrine Ruins, Lava Caverns, The Jungle, and Frost Islands. The Monster is resistant to Ice, Dragon, and Water. However, it is most vulnerable to Thunder and Fire.
  • Diamyo Hermitaur: It is a giant monster of the Carapaceon species. You can find it in The Jungle, Shrine Ruins, Sandy Plains, and Flooded Forest. It has a threat level of Five and is capable of Waterblight. It is vulnerable to the Thunder element attacks and resistant to Dragon and Water.
  • Bishaten: It is a huge, fanged beast who is hostile when approached. You can find him in Shrine Ruins, Flooded Forest, and The Jungle. He is capable of inflicting poison and stunning, so be careful. Avoid Dragon, Water, and Thunder as he is immune to the first two and resistant to the third. Rather, use Ice and Fire as he is vulnerable to them.
  • Khezu: Another huge but Flying Wyvern monster whom you can find in Lava Caverns and Frost Islands. It is a Thunder damage monster and can inflict Thunderblight, which will make you more susceptible to the Stun effect. He is vulnerable to Fire only and resistant to Ice, Thunder, Dragon, and Water.

However, keep in mind that usually, there is only a 20% chance of getting Afflicted Blood if you use only one method. Try to use combinations so you can maximize the yield. We recommend you go for Tetranadon as it has plenty of parts to break. It is slow, has the best hit zones, and has no special ability to put you at a disadvantage. You can use Afflicted Blood for crafting weapons and decorations.
