A Plague Tale Requiem: How To Lower Central Platform

Lowering the central platform in A Plague Tale Requiem is tricky and needs much attention. It is one of the many mini-objectives you must complete before meeting Magister Vaudin to help Hugo. The task unlocks some new alchemy things and gameplay elements that come in handy in the future. We will guide you on how to lower the central platform in Plague Tale Requiem.

Newcomers

After you exit the arena’s underground areas, you will find yourself with a new objective telling you to lower the central platform. At first, it might seem very easy as there are no rats, but suddenly the place is bombarded with rats, and the puzzle becomes tricky. 

The First Crank

Your first task is to climb the stairs on the right and go to the crank. When you reach that, you will see an interact button pop up. You need to interact with it, and using your left analog stick and move it with Lucas. 

This will result in the two gates opening, as shown in the picture below, which results in rats flocking the area, making the simple puzzle tricky, but you don’t need to stop and ensure both gates are opened.

The First Room

Since you have climbed the stairs, you do not need to come to the ground at any cost at this moment. Your first task is to find the two rooms on the floor you are. The first room is to the right of Amicia, as shown in the picture below.

Upon entering that room, you need to open the chest, as shown in the picture below; it contains alcohol, which is needed to light the area with fire on the ground floor and help clear the rats by crafting an ignifer. 

You must have seen by now that there are two platforms and rats below. Your first task is to reach the platform on the right, which we have illustrated in the image we captured below.

As you reach the platform, you need to hit the two hanging meat with your sling; as you hit that, it will come crashing down to the ground, infested with rats, and will clear the area for you to go to the other platform. One meat is to the far right when you look straight to the other platform, and the other is on your left.

After doing this, you need to climb down and climb the ladder to get to the other platform. You will find a chest, interact with it and collect the alcohol bottles.

Now you need to climb down the stair you came up from and go to the stair on your right to go back to Lucas, and you are done with the first room. The first element, alcohol, is with you. Now it is time to find sulfur.

The Second Room

The second room is to the left of the crank. Go back to the crank and then take a left; you will see the second room.

Upon entering the room, you must take the left ladder and go up. You need to get to the object encircled in the picture below.

But to get there, you need to take help from Lucas. In the game, you can command Lucas to do certain tasks. As you climb the ladder, you will see a crank; by pressing the LB+Y button (we were playing on the Xbox), you can command Lucas to take care of the crank. This will result in an elevator coming up. Get to the other side.

Interact with the object and bring it to the center of the elevator. Now command Lucas to bring down the elevator. 

As Lucas brings down the elevator, now you will need this object to get to the sulfur. You need to take the object to the platform to which we have drawn the path in the screenshot below.

Climb the object and then get to the platform. You will find the chest, open it, and take sulfur from it. Now you will be done with the second room, regroup with Lucas and go to the central crank.

The Ignifer

As you regroup with Lucas, a set of instructions will pop up. You need to press the RB button to open the selection menu and then, using the right D-Pad button, select the ignifer by holding the A Button; you have to craft it.

Now select the sling and, using the RT button shoot an ignifer into the central ember to light it up. This will clear the rats, and your life will become easy.

The First Alcove

Now you need to go down and go to the first underground alcove, as shown. Now light the room with the ignifer, and the rats will be cleared away.

Open the first chest on your right and take the alcohol from it and there is a second chest; open it and take the sulfur from it. There is also a clay pot; if you don’t have one already, you need to pick one on the table near the sulfur.

The next step is to hit the ember at the top using your ignifer, but it will not clear all the rats. It confused us too, but Lucas will tell you something, and you need to hear it carefully.

You need to craft the ignifer pot; for that, you need to select the pot and then use the right D-Pad to select the ignifer option. Amicia will craft an ignifer pot. Then you need to throw it on the ground, temporarily clearing the rats. Clear your way and reach the ladder.

Upon climbing the ladder, you will find another crank and a chest. Open the chest box to get +1 alcohol and +1 sulfur,  and then command Lucas to interact with the crank. You must return to the ground floor as he interacts with the crank.

The Second Alcove

As you drop down to the ground floor, the second alcove will be in front of you. You need to enter that.

Using your ignifer, you first need to light the room and do just that. Then collect the pot and the alcohol + sulfur from the chest. Using your sling ignifer now, light up the far right of the room.

The next step is to clear the central area from the rats by using your ignifer pot and then bring down the hanging meat on the far left; this will clear all the rats.

Now you need to climb the stairs on the right. It took us some time to figure it out because the area is not very lit, but you can take an idea from the illustration below.

At the top, you will find another crank, press the interact button and use your analog stick to move it. This will result in both Lucas and Amicia moving the opposite cranks together, and the central platform will come down.

This Is It

Go to the ground floor now and wait for Lucas and the platform to come down. Quickly hop on the platform and go up. Congratulations, you have solved the puzzle and know how to Lower the Central Platform In Plague Tale Requiem.
