Where To Find All Stones In Pokemon Scarlet And Violet?

Stones are fairly easy to get in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, which hasn’t been the case in previous Pokemon games. Fortunately, you can now stumble upon all Stones in the Paldea region just by thoroughly exploring the different Provinces in the game.

Keep a keen eye out for Sparkly reflections which are a sign of Evolution Stones laying around in various areas. They are small tiny reflections, hence, can be missed if you’re not paying close attention.

As we mentioned earlier, the game has 11 Evolution Stones in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, which include:

In order to complete your Pokedex it is important to acquire all of these stones so that you can evolve the special Pokemon. You will need to acquire multiple stones in a particular category, for example, the Fire Stone has the ability to evolve three different pokemon. Hence, you will need to have 3 Fire Stones in order to complete your Pokemon collection.

Fire Stone

The Fire Stones are one of the oldest Evolution Stones in the Pokemon games. Fortunately, they are relatively easy to get in the Paldea Region. You can buy them from the Delibird Presents Shops at Mesagoza, Levincia, and Cascarrafa for 3,000 Poke Dollars. Although, the Fire Stone will only be available at these shops after you have beaten 3 Gyms in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Apart from that, you can also pick them up as Dropped loot in the Paldea Region. You won’t have to spend any money on these Fire Stones, however, they will require you to search for them. Some of the best locations to look for the Fire Stones are; East Province Area Two and Three.

Jacq, your homeroom biology teacher, will also give you a Fire Stone once you add 60 Entries to your Pokedex in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Before we move on, it is necessary to know all the Pokemon that you can evolve using the Fire Stone in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Here are all the Pokemon that can be evolved with the Fire Stone, along with their evolved form.

  • Eevee evolves into Flareon
  • Growlithe evolves into Arcanine
  • Capsakid evolves into Scovillain

Water Stone

Similar to Fire Stones, the Water Stone is yet another item that has been in the Pokemon Games since Generation 1. Water Stones can be found scattered across the shorelines of the Paldea Region. Or you could also buy them for 3,000 Poke Dollars from the Delibird Presents Shops in Mesagoza, Levincia, and Cascarrafa towns.

If you don’t have at least 3 Gym Badges in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, then you won’t be able to buy the Stones from the Delibird Presents Shop just yet. As we mentioned earlier, the Water Stones can be found near Rivers and the Seas around the Paldea Region. However, there are some places that seem to have a few Water Stones as dropped items. These areas include; Behind the Cascarrafa Gym, West Province Area One, and Area Zero.

Your biology teacher at the Naranja/Uva Academy, Jacq, will also give you a Water Stone once you add 80 Entries to your Pokedex in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Once you get the Water Stone in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, it will be time to use them on certain pokemon to make them evolve. Here are the Pokemon that you may use the Water Stone on in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

  • Eevee evolves into Vaporeon.
  • Shellder evolves into Cloyster.

Thunder Stone

The Thunder Stone is another one of the older evolution stones in the Pokemon franchise. It is commonly known as the Stone that evolves Pikachu into Raichu. There is a certain spot that holds the Thunder Stone in the open world of Paldea. Apart from that, you can also buy the Thunder Stone from the Delibird Presents Shop after beating 3 Gyms. One Thunder Stone will cost you 3,000 Poke Dollars.

You can find the Delibird Presents Shop in some of the major towns in Paldea such as Mesagoza. Other than that, there is a Thunder Stone sitting on top of one of the Windmills in the West Province Area One. You can also find the Thunder Stones randomly within the same Province. The Thunder Stone can also be won at the Porto Marinada Auction.

Lastly, Jacq will also give you the Thunder Stone as a reward once you have completed 30 Entries in the Paldea Pokedex.

After acquiring the Thunder Stone, there are a few pokemon that can make use of it to evolve themselves. Here are some Pokemon from the Scarlet and Violet games which can use the Thunder Stone;

  • Eevee evolves into Jolteon.
  • Pikachu evolves into Raichu.
  • Eelektrick evolves into Eelektross.
  • Tadbulb evolves into Bellibot.
  • Magneton evolves into Magnezone.

Leaf Stone

The Leaf Stone is the final stone that completes the group of the first four stones in the Pokemon Games since Generation 1. The Leaf Stone is also the final stone that you can buy from the Delibird Presents Shop along with Fire, Water, and Thunder Stone in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. You can buy the Leaf Stone from the Delibird Presents Shops at Mesagoza, Cascarrafa, and Levincia for 3,000 Poke Dollars

Similar to the previous stones, it is necessary to gain at least 3 Gym Badges before being able to buy the Leaf Stone. Apart from that, the Leaf Stone can also be found as a Dropped item in the Paldea Region. Some of the common areas where you may find the Grass Stone is the Tagtree Thicket, which can be found next to the East Province Area Three and North of Zapapico town.

After you eventually obtain the Leaf Stone in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, it will be time to use it on a Pokemon. Unlike the other stones, the Leaf Stone is only able to evolve one pokemon in the game. Hence, if you get only a single Leaf Stone, that would be enough for you to add the entry to the Paldea Pokedex.

  • Eevee evolves into Leafon

Sun Stone

The Sun Stone is another reoccurring Evolution Stone in the Pokemon franchise. It was added with Generation 2 of Pokemon. And now it has made its way into the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet games. Unfortunately, the Sun Stone along with the rest of the stones we have mentioned below, can not be bought from the Delibird Presents Shop. Nonetheless, that does not mean that you can’t obtain them in the Paldea region.

First and foremost, you can get plenty of Sun Stones in the East Province Area Three right next to the River. You can also find a few Sun Stones in the Asado Desert and the West Province Area One. Apart from that, players can get the Sun Stone through the Artazon Gym Test as well. In the test, you will need to find 10 Sunflora in Artazon. Once your progress through the test and complete it you will be rewarded a Sun Stone in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Lastly, the Sun Stone is also available as a reward at the Porto Marinada Auction. Let us now look at all the Pokemon that you can evolve using the Sun Stone in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

  • Petilil evolves into Lilligant
  • Sunkern evolves into Sunflora

Ice Stone

The Ice Stone is a rather newer Evolution stone in the Pokemon games. Introduced in Generation 7, you can now get the Stone in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet especially if you’re planning to evolve a few Ice-type pokemon. As we mentioned earlier, any stones apart from the founding four (Fire, Water, Thunder, and Leaf Stone) can not be bought from the Delibird Presents Shop.

Hence, you will need to thoroughly search for the Ice Stone in the Paldea Region if you plan to get it. Luckily, the Ice Stone is a common Dropped item in a few specific areas. These places include the region of Glaseado Mountain. Other than that, you can also find an Ice Stone near the Delizapa Passage in the West Province Area Three.

Lastly, the Ice Stone, at times, is also available at the Porto Marinada Auction House. So, if you regularly take part in auctions in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, then that’s another viable method to get the Ice Stone.

Now that you know all the ways that you can get your hands on the Ice Stone in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. It is time to review some Pokemon that are capable of using the Ice Stone in the game.

  • Eevee evolves into Glaceon
  • Cetoddle evolves into Cetitan
  • Crabrawler evolves into Crabominable

Moon Stone

The Moon Stone is another evolution stone that was introduced to Pokemon fans back in Generation 1. However, it isn’t part of the stones which can be bought from the Delibird Presents Shop. Hence, you will need to find them in the Paldea Region by using other methods.

Luckily, they can be found as Dropped items in many different locations across the map. The best place to search for Moon Stones in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is in South Province Area Three. They can also be found along the path between the Mesagoza and Artazon towns in the Paldea Region. Some players were also able to obtain the Moon Stone in Area Zero, however, we haven’t found it there yet. At Porto Marinada you can also get it as a dropped item near the Lighthouse.

On top of that, you can also win the Moon Stone by taking part in the Porto Marinada Auction house. Jacq will also gift you a Moon Stone once you complete 210 entries in the Pokedex while playing Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Once you have a Moon Stone in your bag you can then use it to evolve a Pokemon. Similar to the Leaf Stone, the Moon Stone is capable of evolving a single pokemon in the Scarlet and Violet game.

  • Jigglypuff evolves into Wigglytuff

Shiny Stone

Moving on, we have the Shiny Stone in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. The Shiny Stone was introduced in the Pokemon franchise back when Generation 4 got released. You can’t buy the stone from the Delibird Presents Shop, therefore, you will need to work your way across Paldea in order to acquire the evolution stone.

To get the Shiny Stone in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, keep an eye out for sparkling dropped objects in Paldea. One of the best places to search for the Shiny Stone is the South Province Area Six. The Shiny Stone can be found next to a Waterfall, however, to reach it your mount should be able to Climb walls. To get the climbing ability, you will need to defeat the Final Titan Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

You can also get the Shiny Stone at the Auction house in Porto Marinada. Porto Marinada is located in the West Province Area Two. Lastly, players can also earn the Shiny Stone as a reward from Jacq at the Naranja/Uva Academy after completing 150 entries in the Pokedex.

After you get the Shiny Stone in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you can then make one Pokemon evolve. This means that the Shiny Stone can only be used on one pokemon. So if you manage to get a single stone in the game, that would be enough.

  • Floette evolves into Florges

Dusk Stone

The Dusk Stone is a rather rare evolution stone in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Fortunately, we have narrowed down all the methods that you can adapt to get this Dusk stone in Paldea, which was added to the Pokemon world in Generation 4. As we already know, the Dusk Stone can not be bought at the Delibird Presents Shop.

Regardless of that, there is a certain spot that happens to be a fixed location for the Dusk Stone in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. To get this free Dusk Stone you will need to head to the cold town of Montenevera. Once there, go to the Town’s gym and head to the backside to find the Dusk Stone as Dropped loot.

Apart from that, players can also head to the West Province Area Two to get to Porto Marinada. Here you can take part in the Auction which has Dusk Stone as a reward sometimes. So keep an eye out on the Auction rewards every now and then to check if you can get the Dusk Stone.

Lastly, you can also earn the Dusk Stone as a reward from Jacq at the Academy after making 130 Entries to your Pokedex. Once you do manage to get the Dusk Stone in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, here are the Pokemon that you can use it on.

  • Murkrow evolves into Honchkrow
  • Misdreavus evolves into Mismagius

Dawn Stone

The Dawn Stone was introduced in Generation 4. Unfortunately, you can not buy the Dawn Stone from Delibird Presents or any other shops in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Although, the stone has some fixed spots that you can travel to in order to get it as a Dropped item. In our opinion, the Dawn Stone is the most commonly found stone in the open world of Paldea.

With that said, the first area where you can get the Dawn Stone is inside a Cave located at the East Province Area Three, quite close to where the Sun Stone is. Apart from that, you can also get another Dawn Stone at the West Province Area Three in the Ruins where you can also find Bronzor. Dawn Stone is also commonly found as dropped loot in these two provinces that we mentioned above.

Other than that, you can also win the Dusk Stone at the Porto Marinada by taking part in the Auction. Rewards change every day at the Auction house, hence, try visiting the Port-based Town regularly to check the rewards. Last but not least, you can also earn the Dawn Stone as a reward from Jacq after registering 270 Entries in your Pokedex.

Finally, you can use the Dawn Stone on two different pokemon to make them evolve into Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Here are the Pokemon that are able to use Dawn Stone.

  • Kirlia (male) evolves into Gallade
  • Snorunt (female) evolves into Froslass

Oval Stone

Oval Stone Location [Screenshot by eXputer]
The Final Evolution Stone left on our list is the Oval Stone in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. As we already know, you can not buy the Oval Stone from any shop in the Paldea region, including the Delibird Presents. They are exclusively obtainable as dropped items on the map. Hence, to get the stones you will need to ready up your Miraidon or Koraidon so that you can travel to some of these provinces.

First off, you can get the Oval Stone near Casseroya Lake. The stone is conveniently placed along the southern shores of the lake near West Province Area Three. Moving on, you can also acquire the Oval Stone in the North Province Area Two and East Province Area Three, close to where you can find the Sun Stone and Dawn Stone.

Oval Stone works in a unique manner, which is why it is a bit different from the rest of the evolution stones in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. You can use it to evolve Happiny into Chansey. To allow Happiny to evolve you will need to make the pokemon hold the Oval Stone and then level it up. Once you do so, it will evolve into Chansey. However, all of these steps need to be performed during the daytime.

How Do Auction Houses Work In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?

Now you may be wondering what the prices of Evolution Stones might be at these Auction houses in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. The auctions in pokemon scarlet and violet do not have a fixed price system. They work like a real-life auction and have a specific bidding system and the prices in them can go very high sometimes. One should make sure to bring a lot of cash when they are about to visit the place where the auction is held.

Before taking part in auctions at the Port Marinada, there are a few things that you should keep in mind.

  • The marketplace in Porto Marinada can have up to four auction stalls at one time. These auction stalls will have the option to have auctions held in them while the outer stalls will merely have NPCs.
  • If you want to purchase an item or number of items from a specific auction stall, simply talk to the person in charge of the stall. This will trigger the option to place a bid or for the player to leave. Now the player has the option to place a high enough bid and win the item instantly, but they must pay what they have bid so they must choose carefully.
  • Other than the player, there will be two NPCs who will also be placing bids. Players must skillfully set a bid that is above the other NPCs’ and not too damaging to their own finances. This too can be considered a mini-game as it requires a very specific set of skills.
  • Players must understand that the auctions reset inside the game with respect to game days rather than real-life days.
  • The auctions reset daily, and a day inside the game usually lasts around 65 minutes in real life. With that being said one can potentially have around 22 auction resets on a daily basis (if they don’t sleep at all). Even with taking sleep into account and their daily activities, players can take part in at least 5-6 auctions on a daily real-life basis.

With that all being said and understood, players can know how the auction systems work. There are also a few tips and tricks for whether the items present in the auctions are to their need and requirement or not. Therefore, the prices of Evolution Stones will differ and will not be fixed.

Finally, the evolution stones are not the only item that can be purchased in the auction marketplace in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet hence players should know and understand that their journey to this tedious location will not be for naught. They can visit this place quite regularly to see if the auctions have any items to their liking and try their luck in the bidding system.

Players should also make sure to check all the vendors in case even one of them has an evolution stone that they require. The option of auctioning can be opened to the players when they defeat the water-type gym leader named “Kofu”.
