Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: All Ominous Black Stake Locations

• Ominous Black Stakes are required to unlock the Shrines of Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
• Four different glow colors of these Stakes will determine the Shrine they will unlock.
• The four Shrines can only be unlocked by obtaining 8 relevant Stakes.

Unlike the other Pokemon games, you will get to and back a lot of things in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. There are many mysteries for you to solve, with one such mystery involving a mysterious Black Stake location called the Ominous Stake in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. 

Whenever you are traveling across the Paldea region, you will come across some glowing Stakes during your venture. These Stakes are driven into the ground, and they glow in four different colors. These colors represent four Shrines that hold four Legendary Pokemon.

Therefore, it is important to collect these Stakes in order to unlock the Legendary Pokemon. In our guide below, you will find the location of each Stake in Paldea and the Shrine it is associated with in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. 

Ominous Black Stake Locations 

In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, there are 32 different Stakes for the player to find. In order to pull them out of the Ground, you will simply have to interact with them. The players will not be given any clear indication of what these Stakes might do for them in the game. The game will also not tell the players any consequences of pulling out the Stake. However, it is recommended that you pull out the Stakes whenever you can, as they will lead to Legendary Pokemon in the game. After you have collected all the stakes for a certain shine, you will be able to unlock the Legendary Pokemon in that Shrine. 

In the game, you will be able to find four different sets of the Ominous Black Stakes. Each of these Stakes will give a unique colored glow that is associated with a Shrine. For a single color, the players will have to collect Eight Stakes. 

After collecting the 8 Stakes for a particular color, the players will be able to unlock a Shrine that will lead them to find and catch a powerful Legendary Pokemon. Keep in mind that these Shrines can be found in a particular portion of the map.

Furthermore, relevant Stakes are also found in this location. The Shrine and Stakes can only be accessed when the players have successfully upgraded Koraidon or the Miraidon. To upgrade them, you will have to beat all 5 Titans in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Only then will you be able to find the Stakes and pull them out of the Ground. 

Purple Stakes To Unlock Grasswither Shrine 

For the first Stakes, we will be finding other Purple Stakes that are found in the Southeastern corner of the Paldea region in the game. These Purple Stakes will unlock the Shrine called the Grasswither Shrine. In order to unlock the shine, you will be required to find 8 corresponding Stakes that will glow Purple in color.

After removing them from the Ground, you will be able to unlock the Grasswither Shrine in the game. When you unlock the Shrine, you will have access to the Wo-Chien Pokemon. It is a Dark And Grass type legendary Pokemon that will look very much like a snail in its shape and form. 

Locations

Following are all the eight Purple Stake locations that will allow you to unlock the Legendary Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. 

• Stake 1: The first Stake can be found located on a Cliff. The cliff is situated directly above the Shrine. In order to access the Cliff, you can use your mount. 
• Stake 2: The second Stake can be found in the northwest region of Los Platos. You will need to head toward the Cliff located above the Pokemon center in order to access the Stake. 
• Stake 3: For the third Stake, you will have to head towards the top of the mountain located in the southern part of Los Platos. You will be able to access the area easily by using your amount to reach up towards the top of the mountain.  
• Stake 4: Head towards the southern part of Mesogaza. By going to the South of Mesogaza on the eastern side, you will be able to locate the 4th Purple Stake.

  

• Stake 5: For the 5th Stake, you need to head towards the South province area 5. Make your way towards the central part of the region and locate a large mountain in the area. It will be the highest mountain in the region, and you will be able to locate the Purple Stake at this location on the very top. 
• Stake 6: The 6th Stake can be found in the southern province area 3. Once again, you have to make your way towards the center of the region and head towards the east of Mesogaza. In order to pull this 6th Stake out of the Ground, you will have to make your way to the top of our plateau located in that area. 
• Stake 7: The 7th Stake can be found located in the South of the Artazon Region. It will be located at the very top of a Cliff near the West Pokemon center. 
• Stake 8: For the last stake, you will have to head towards the southern province and go towards the desert part of the region. You will be able to spot it on the border between the desert part and the Grassy part of the eastern province area. It will be located over a ravine.

  

As soon as you grab the final stake, you will get a prompt that will say that a loud noise can be heard coming from that shine of Wo Chien. All you have to do is now open the Shrine, and you will be able to obtain the Legendary Pokemon. 

Yellow Stakes For The Icerend Shrine 

By obtaining the Yellow Stakes from different locations in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you will be able to unlock the Icerend Shrine. The Shrine itself is located in the Western part of the Paldea region.

You will also get to experience the open-sky Titan fight here. In the Shrine, you will be able to unlock the Chien Pao Legendary Pokemon. It is a dark and Ice-type Pokemon that looks like a Saber tooth tiger in its appearance. 

Locations

Below you will find the locations of all Yellow Stakes that are required to unlock the Legendary Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

• Stake 1: The first Yellow Stake can be obtained by making your way up on the top of a waterfall. This waterfall can be found in the eastern part of Alfornada.  
• Stake 2: The second Yellow Stake can be found located on the top of a cliffside. You would be able to reach the Cliff side by going to the southwestern part of Cortondo. The cliffside is located near the elevation of Alfornada. This elevation is to the South of the Yellow Stake in the game. 
• Stake 3: The third Stake can be found in an underground tunnel in the game. You will have to make your way into the tunnel by entering it from the beachside. By making your way through the western coast, you will be able to enter the underground tunnel. After heading into the tunnel, you will be able to locate the Yellow Stake quite easily. 
• Stake 4: To locate the 4th Yellow Stake, you will need to go towards the southeastern part of the Icerend Shrine. The Stake itself will be located near the windmills. To know you’re headed down the right path, look for a small plateau located in this region in a Canyon.

  

• Stake 5: The 5th Yellow Stake can be found in the corner of Cortondo. It also lies near a Pokemon center, so it will be fairly easy for you to spot. All you need to do is head toward the southern part of the West Province Area 1 and look for the Pokemon center. You will be able to see the Yellow Stake located on the highest point of a Cliff. 
• Stake 6: For the 6th Stake, you will need to make your way toward the Team Star’s Dark Crew Headquarters. After that, you need to head towards the South of the headquarters, where you will pass some Ruins in the region. There you will be able to see the Yellow Stake on the top of a Cliff. 
• Stake 7: For the 7th Stake, you just need to head toward the eastern side of the 6th Yellow Stake that you found, and you will be able to spot it in the Ground area. The Stake will be located at the bottom of a Cliff, making it fairly easy for you to access it. 
• Stake 8: For the final Stake, you need to head towards Cascarrafa. Look for the gym building and make your way toward the backside of it. Behind the building, you will be able to spot a small pond. Moving a bit further, you will find that this small pond is connected by a river to some trees ahead. Now in order to look for the Yellow Stake, you will need to search near these trees. The Yellow Stake can be found behind one of the trees.

  

As soon as you pull out the final Stake, a prompt will pop up on your screen telling you that Shrine is unlocked for you to access. After unlocking and opening the Shrine, you will be able to obtain the Legendary dark, and Ice Pokemon called Chien Pao. 

Green Stakes For The Groundblight Shrine  

In order to unlock the Groundblight Shrine, you will have to obtain all 8 Green Stakes in the game. The Groundblight Shrine itself is located in the Northwestern part of the Paldea region. You will find it near the north of Casseroya lake by the marshlands.

After unlocking the Shrine by obtaining all the Green Stakes, you will be able to unlock a Legendary Pokemon called Ting-Lu. The Pokemon is a dark and Ground Legendary Pokemon that looks like a deer or a moose. In order to unlock the Groundblight Shrine, you will need to obtain the Green Stakes found in the following locations. 

Locations

• Stake 1: For the first Stake, you need to make your way toward the Southern side of the river that is located on the north of the Asado Desert. Just head straight north, and you will be able to locate the first Green Stake in the region easily. 
• Stake 2: For the second Stake, you need to head towards the northern side of the Asado desert. There you will be able to locate the Green Stake on a Grass plateau deep in the Ground. Make your way straight toward the center of the plateau. There you will see a platform for you to jump down. After jumping down the hole in the center of the plateau, you will land safely on a stone pillar. There you will be able to obtain the Green Stake. 
• Stake 3: For the third Stake, you need to head towards the southern corner of Casseroya lake and into the middle of it. By reaching the middle of Casseroya lake, you will spot two small islands located right next to each other. One of these islands is smaller than the other one. On the smaller island, you will be able to locate the third Green Stake to unlock the Shrine.  
• Stake 4: now, to look for the 4th Stake, you will need to make your way toward the northeastern part of Medail. You will be able to spot the region quite easily as it is the area where the river and the snowy part of the game connect. Make your way towards the waterfall located there. Now head straight up the waterfall, and you will be able to spot the Green Stake located on the cliffside nearby.

  

• Stake 5: For the 5th Stake, you need to head towards the middle of Casseroya lake again. There you will find two islands located next to each other. The 5th Stake will be found on the larger island and on the eastern side of it, so you will be able to spot it quite easily. 
• Stake 6: For the 6th Stake, you will need to head toward the southwestern corner of Casseroya Lake. The 6th Stake can be found located right next to the shoreline of Casseroya lake so make sure to search near that area. 
• Stake 7: For the 7th Stake, you need to head toward the northwestern part of this region. Stay close to the ocean and look for a hill. The hill will be overlooking some ruins in the game, so it will be quite easy for you to spot. Now to get the 7th Green Stake, you need to go up the hill, and it will be located on the top of it. 
• Stake 8: For the last Stake, you need to head towards the eastern part of the Groundblight Shrine. There you will see the 8th and final Stake located near a snowy cliffside.

  

The final Stake will be near the marshlands, and upon taking the final Stake out, you will get a text prompt as well. The prompt will tell you that the Shrine is now open and accessible, and you will be able to battle Ting Lu in order to obtain the dark and Ground Legendary Pokemon. 

Blue Stakes For The Firescourge Shrine 

In order to unlock the Firescourge Shrine, you will have to obtain all the Blue Stakes in the game. The Firescourge Shrine is located in the Northeastern corner of the Paldea region, where it lies straight to the east of the snowy region in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

By unlocking the Firescourge Shrine, you will get access to the dark and Fire-type Legendary Pokemon that looks like a goldfish in its appearance. The Legendary Pokemon is called Chi-Yu. The Shrine of Chi-Yu is on a mountaintop. This is also the place where the river starts. You need to follow this river, and it will lead inside a cave. The Shrine of the Legendary Pokemon can be found here. 

Locations

Below you will find the location of all eight stakes that are required to access Firescourge Shrine and unlock the Legendary Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. 

• Stake 1: For the first Stake, you need to go outside the Blue Shrine. It is located right outside the Shrine, and you will be able to find it easily. Make sure that you don’t follow the river inside The Cave to the location of the Shrine. Instead, head outside and go straight to the Cliff that is located above the entrance of The Cave. There you will be able to find the first Blue Stake easily. 
• Stake 2: Now, for the second Stake, you need to hide towards the northeastern corner of the map. Make your way to the edge of the snowy region in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. You will spot a huge plateau here. By making your way up to the top of the huge plateau, you will be able to acquire the second Blue Stake in the game. 
• Stake 3: For the third Stake, you need to go towards the northern part of the map. In the northern tip of the Paldea region, you will be able to find the 3rd Stake. This is also the place where the river of the snowy region connects to the beach. You will be able to spot a tree on the western side of the area. The Blue Stake is located right next to the tree, and you will be able to pull it out of the Ground easily. 
• Stake 4: For the 4th Stake, you need to head toward the eastern corner of the map. This part of the map is inaccessible, and the Stake lies just above a Cliff. The Cliff can be located by heading towards the north province area 2 Pokemon center.

  

• Stake 5: For the fifth Stake, you need to head toward the southeastern part of the map, starting from the Blue Shrine. On the eastern edge of the map, you will come across another area. You need to head towards the northern part of the river in the area in order to get the 5th Blue Stake. You will be able to locate some ruins at the bottom of a hill as well, which would be the indicator that you’re going in the right direction. This is where the Stake is located. 
• Stake 6: For the 6th Stake, you need to head towards the area where you fight the team star poison crew. The area is located in the northern part of the after Tagtree Thicket. You will also spot a small pond in the location. Moving straight ahead, you will locate the Blue Stake lying at the top of a Cliff. For identification, there will be a tree located next to the Cliff as well. 
• Stake 7: For Stake seven, you need to head towards the north of Levincia. The 7th Stake will be located on the top of the mountain near the coastline. You will see a huge Cliff in the area as well as the Levincia lighthouse in the region. 
• Stake 8: For the final Stake, you need to head towards the southern end of the snowy region. Next, you need to look for a small patch of Grass that will be located on the North of the team star poison crew base as well as the northeast of the Pokemon center nearby.

  

After pulling out the final Stake, you will get a text prompt that will tell you that you have unlocked the Shrine and you can catch Chi-Yu Legendary Pokemon by battling it.
