Pokemon Scarlet And Violet: How To Get All Starters

Learn how you can get all three starters which are Fuecoco, Sprigatito as well as Quaxly on your Switch!

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are finally out, adding to the fun for all-time Pokemon lovers with another game. With the same evolution and trading concept, players are able to gain access to Pokemon throughout their journey and experience with the gameplay. In our Pokemon Scarlet and Violet How To Get All Starters guide, we will uncover how you can gain access to all three starters!

Key Takeaways
  • There are three starter Pokemons that are Quaxly, Fuecoco, and Sprigatito.
  • The best way to get all three will be by trading with other players, using Homebox, or breeding.
  • The main benefit of having all three starters is that for people who want to catch ’em all, now they can!
  • You do not need to have all three starters to progress in the game, as it’s all up to preference!

Trading Between Game Copies

One of the first things that players need to keep in mind is that they will not be able to gain access to all starter Pokemon from one account from the get-go. The game is designed in a way whereby you will need to choose one starter and then roll with it; the actual process of getting all starters can be a bit iffy.

For players that want to get familiar with the Paldea area early on in the game, they will need to first and foremost select from one of three main starters, which will be Fuecoco, Sprigatito, or Quaxly who we will discuss later in detail.

Detailed Method

One of the first ways that players will be able to get their hands on all three starters will be by basically trading between two copies of the game. One of the main ways that players will be able to do that will be if they have two consoles (Nintendo switches) at home and they have also managed to buy two copies of the game, which cost a total of 60 dollars each.

Requirements:

  • Two Nintendo Switch consoles, each with a copy of the game.
  • Progress through the game to the point where the professor allows you to choose a starter Pokemon.

Procedure:

On the First Console (Your Console):

  1. Start the game on your main Switch account.
  2. Progress in the game until you reach the point where the professor offers you a choice of one of the three starters.

On the Second Console (Friend’s Console or Your Second Console): 3. If your friend has their own console and a copy of the game:

  • They need to have two spare profiles on their console alongside their main account (Let’s call them A, B, and C).
  • Start a new game on account B and progress until they unlock the trading process. Save the game.
  • Close the game, then load up a new game on account C, and progress until they unlock trading. Save the game.
  • Trade the starter from account B to your main account on your console and save the game.
  • Trade the starter from account C to your main account on your console and save the game.
  1. If you have a second console:
    • Start a new game on your second console.
    • Progress in the game until you unlock the trading process. Save the game.
    • Trade the starter from your second console to your main account on your first console and save the game.

Note:

  • The process can be reversed if your friend wants to obtain all three starters.
  • Ensure that your friend has two spare profiles to protect their main save file from getting corrupted or affected.

Using One Switch Console

Moving on, the next method that we would like to discuss will be a process that might be one of the easiest for getting all starters by yourself without the need for a second switch console.

Here are the steps:

Requirements:

  • Access to Pokemon Home (subscription-based service).
  • Patience, as this method involves repeating gameplay.

Procedure:

  1. Wait for Pokemon Home compatibility, which is expected to be available in spring 2023.
  2. Create three Nintendo Switch accounts: A, B, and C.
  3. Launch the game on your main account (Account A) and progress until you can unlock trading between accounts.
  4. Save your game on Account A and close it.
  5. Load the game on Account B and choose a different starter (e.g., Fuecoco). Progress through the game until you unlock trading, save the game, and close it.
  6. Load the game on Account C and choose the third starter that you haven’t picked in Accounts A or B. Progress through the game until you unlock trading, save the game, and close it.
  7. Now, you have three accounts, each with a different starter.
  8. Launch the Pokemon Home app using Accounts B and C, and deposit the starters into a homebox.
  9. Repeat the homebox transfer process for the other accounts.
  10. Go back to your main account (Account A) and transfer the starters from the homeboxes to your main account.
  11. You now have access to all three starters on your main account.

Breeding

Last but not least, players will also be able to carry out breeding between their desired Pokemon, but unlike the common daycare system in other Pokemon games, there is no daycare in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

  • However, players should be able to breed them via a picnic.
  • You want to make your way over to Medali, which is a town, and you want to start roaming about until you are able to come across a ditto.
  • Dittos can be hiding in something as simple as a bush.
  • Therefore, you need to pan around a bit to find one.
  • From there, you want to head over to a restaurant in the town, from where you will need to buy an item that will have an egg power of level 2, and it will increase the chances of you gaining eggs.

After that, you want to head over to an area where you can successfully set up a proper picnic. After that, go ahead and feed a sandwich to the Pokemon that you want to breed and is compatible, and if the breeding is successful, then there should be an egg basket in which an egg should appear in it.

Starters

Last but not least, let’s actually discuss the types of starters that players will be able to access. The three starters will range from Fuecoco, Sprigatito, and Quaxly, and they are all different types.
