Tarountula is fairly new in Pokémon and has some great abilities to work with. Below you will see a detailed guide on how to catch Tarountula and where you can find it in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Without any further ado, let’s check out all the possible locations of Tarountula in the game.

Where To Find Tarountula

Tarountula is a bug-type Pokémon belonging to the String Ball Pokémon category. It stands at the height of 1’ with a weight of 8.8 lbs. In Pokémon Scarlet, Tarountula is stated as a Pokémon with balls of thread wrapped around its rear body.

The best part about these threads is that they are elastic enough to deflect back the Scythes of another Pokémon called Scyther. Therefore if you are looking to counter Scyther, then there is no Pokémon better than Tarountula in the game.

Also, it is said that the thread that it will secrete from its rear end is extremely powerful. While the base stats of the Pokémon are not that high, you will be able to find them in the starting region of the game. Tarountula is one of the Pokémon located in the Paldea region. Therefore, you will be able to access the Pokémon quite early on in the game.

After you have selected your starter in Pokémon and gone through the whole introduction, you will get a chance to go down the Poco Path and explore it. After that, you have to look for a Lighthouse near the Poco Path. After you have made all your way up to the lighthouse, you will come across several different Pokémon in this area.

You will be able to get your hands on Tarountula as well in this region. Therefore, Tarountula is one of the Pokémon that you will be able to get your hands on pretty early on in the game.

This spider Pokémon can be found hanging around from trees or simply walking around. It looks pretty much like a normal spider, just with a lot of threads covering its rear end. You need to approach it and interact with Tarountula. In case you are interacting with the Tarountula hanging from a tree, you need to target it by pressing ZL.

How To Catch Tarountula

Getting Tarountula is pretty easy; all you need to do is target it. For that, you need to press ZL and hit the Pokémon simply. However, most of the time, the trainers end up missing their shoot, causing the Pokémon to run away.

So make sure that you aim correctly at that. A good strategy is to Crouch by pressing the B button and approach the Pokémon quietly and stealthily. Doing so will allow you to target it pretty easily. Next, you have to throw a Pokeball at it by pressing the ZR button.

After that, you will initiate your battle with it. Since it is a low-level Pokémon, catching it will not be that difficult. Also, almost every bug Pokémon is pretty easy to catch due to their low stats.

However, they should not be neglected or skipped just because they are easy to obtain. If you manage to catch and train them up to higher levels, you will be able to utilize some of the very best abilities of the Pokémon in your battles. And the best part about it is that it is pretty easy to level up and evolve into Spidops.

How To Evolve Tarountula

While Tarountula itself might not be a good choice for your main Pokémon but on the other hand, its evolved form called Spidops can be pretty lethal to your opposing Pokémon.

Spidops has pretty impressive stats in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and can prove to be a great Pokémon, even for end-game battles. For instance, one of its abilities called the Stakeout is capable of increasing the power of your moves against the opposing Pokémon who has just switched into the battle.

Therefore it can be a viable choice for trainer battles in the game. The signature move of Spidops is called Silk Trap which will protect it against incoming damage as well as lowering the mobility and speed of any Pokémon that will come in physical contact with it. Therefore, we highly recommend finding the Tarountula Pokémon and evolving it into Spidops.

Furthermore, developing it does not require a lot of effort as it is a bug-type Pokémon. Most of the bug-type Pokémon have a pretty basic requirement to be evolved. To evolve Tarountula into Spidops you just need to reach Level 15 in the game.

Stats Of Tarountula And Spidops

While Spidops does have pretty low stats, it can still deliver a good amount of damage to enemies. At Level 24, you will be able to learn the counter move, which will allow you to deflect any two for physical damage back at the enemy.

Furthermore, you will also be able to learn the circle throw ability, which will allow you to drag out a certain Pokémon that appeared and will be available to use at level 41. Taking a look at the stats of Tarountula, it has 45 DEF, 41 ATTK, 35 HP, 40 SP DEF, 20 SPEED, and 29 ATTK.

On the other hand, we have Spidops with higher stats possessing 60 HP, 35 SPD, 86 SP DEF, 52 SP ATTK, 92 DEF, and 78 ATTK.

Best Abilities And Moves

When it comes to the best abilities and moves of Tarountula and Spidops, we recommend stakeout and insomnia. Stakeout will help you double up the power of any moves you use against the enemy Pokémon.

Therefore, you will be able to deal double the damage to the Pokémon who swapped before your move. The damage move can prove to be quite helpful, especially at the beginning of the game. After that, we have Insomnia which will help you prevent sleep.

We will begin with standard moves common to Pokémon belonging to the bug category. These moves include Poison Jab, X-Scissor, Sticky Web, and Leech Life, along with Shadow Claw, Toxic Spikes, Spikes, and U-turn. We will also have new attacks like Silk Trap and Skitter Smack.

By using Silk Trap, you will be able to lower the speed of your enemy. It is also a protection. On the other hand, we have Skitter Smack, which will allow you to deal a decent amount of damage to your enemies and lower the special attack of the counter Pokémon as well.

We highly recommend going for moves like Shadow Claw, Poison Jab, Leech Life, and Silk Trap. But then again, you would require a high level of Tarountula and Spidops to be able to use these attacks. This makes other Pokémon a better option than Tarountula.

Is Tarountula And Spidops Worth It?

With an almost decent amount of moves that attack, if you do manage to get your hands earlier on the Tarountula, it is not that bad of an option to use in early-game battles.

You can even use the Pokémon for tougher battles. But there are far better options than Tarountula and Spidops for you to choose from. Both of these have the same types of weaknesses.

Any kind of rock moves, flying moves, or fire moves can be highly damaging to them. Therefore if you are looking to fight against Nemona, we recommend choosing other Pokémon.

But there is an advantage to these Pokémon as they are resistant to grass-type Pokémon. Therefore, if you are fighting against sprigatito You can use Tarountula as your Pokémon. Spidops has an extremely high special defense as well as a normal defense stat.

So while you are throwing your pokey ball at other Pokémon trying to catch them, you can use Tarountula to battle them. Because of its high defense start, it will be able to endure hits when you throw a poke ball at the Pokémon you were trying to garage.
