Rage 2 Ark Locations: Every Weapon And Ability

There are 14 different Arks in the game and they are spread over the map. So this Rage 2 Ark Locations guide will show you how to find them.

Apart from some story missions, the only way to gain new abilities and weapons in this game is to find Rage 2 Ark Locations. These are essentially pods that are scattered all over the game world, and most of them are guarded by some enemy encampment.

This means that powering up depends on actively exploring the world and getting strong enough to take down these outposts.

So with this Rage 2 Ark locations guide, we’ll show you how to find every single one of these structures and what you can find within them.

Key Takeaways
  • Arks are scattered throughout the world, whose locations are marked by a Blue Hexagon Symbol. They are home to a bunch of different Nanotrites and Advanced Tech Weapons.
  • The symbol is not visible to use at first, but it will appear as you explore the world and have conversations with different NPCs.
  • Each Ark has its own number of enemies and difficulty level. Defeat the enemies and use your Focus Ability to open the Ark Vault to acquire the weapon or ability in that vault.
  • Weapons and Abilities obtained from these Arks can be upgraded by using Feltrite, which are blue crystals. Note that you are only able to upgrade them to a certain level.
  • These level upgrades allow players to obtain some extra perks and enhancements. Perks on their own can be unlocked by using the Nanotrite Boosters.
  • A total of 14 Arks are available in the game. 6 of these Arks yield new weapons which are as follows:
    • Gunbarrel Ark: It contains the Combat Shotgun.
    • Dank Catacomb Ark: It contains the Firestorm Revolver.
    • Greenhaven Ark: It contains the Hyper Canon.
    • Needle Falls Ark: It contains the Grav Dart Launcher.
    • Shrouded Vault Ark: It contains the Charged Plasma Canon.
    • Strongbox Ark: It contains the Smart Rocket Launcher.
  • The other 8 Arks yield different kinds of Nanotrite Abilities which are as follows:
    • Vineland Ark: It contains the Dash Ability.
    • Canyon Cove Ark: It contains the Defibrillation Ability.
    • Earthscar Ark: It contains the Slam Ability.
    • Dealypipe Ark: It contains the Rush Ability.
    • Great Crack Ark: It contains the Double Jump Ability.
    • Junkers Park Ark: It contains the Shatter Melee Ability.
    • Quake Hill Ark: It contains the Vortex Ability.
    • Spikewind Ark: It contains the Barrier Ability.

In Rage 2, Arks are rich sources of Nanotrites and Advance Tech Weapons that you can’t get from anywhere else in the game. They are scattered throughout the world, and their locations are indicated by a blue Hexagon symbol on the map. You will not be able to see these symbols on the map from the start of the game. But they can be uncovered either by stumbling across them during exploration or by getting the relevant information from various NPCs. You will come across these characters while venturing through various trade towns or cities, and they can be identified by the white message icons over their heads.

All you have to do is to engage in a conversation with them, and most of them will give you information regarding different activities such as encounters, outposts, missions, or even Arks. You can even skip the conversation, and a separate interface will appear providing additional details about that particular discussion. After that, your relevant point of interest will pop up on the map. In this way, you can discover more and more Arks.

How To Acquire An Ability or Weapon Through Rage 2 Arks?

Once you know the location of these arks, you will have to make your way there. Each ark is protected by some enemies. Their numbers and type depend on the level of difficulty associated with that Ark, which will further determine whether your encounter will be easy or difficult.

After you have beaten these enemies, open the Ark vault by using your Focus ability. Now head on inside, and acquire the ability or weapon locked inside. Doing this will initiate a tutorial stage through which you can learn the basic mechanics of the weapon or ability you have acquired.

How To Upgrade Your Abilities or Weapons In Rage 2?

Each Ability and Weapon obtained from the Arks is upgradable up to a certain level. These levels can be unlocked by spending Feltrite, which are blue crystals that can be obtained from dead foes, supply crates, meteorites and are embedded in the walls at some places. Unlocking these levels offers enhanced effects, as well as additional perks that will further buff up your abilities. The perks themselves though can only be unlocked through Nanotrite Boosters. You can get these items from Ark Chests, Shops, and Intel Vendors.

Likewise, you can upgrade your Ark Weapons in a similar fashion, however there are some exceptions that are worth mentioning. Like Abilities, there are certain levels associated with Weapons as well. Once again, you will have to level them up by spending Feltrite. Unlike Abilities however, these levels will unlock certain perks only through which you can improve certain attributes of your guns like reload speed, damage, and magazine capacity, etc. You will require Weapon Core Mods to purchase these perks. You can get these from Ark Chests, Shops, and Intel Vendors.

A total of 14 different Arks exist within the game. Six of these contain new weapons, while the remaining eight yield new Nanotrite abilities. Finding these Rage 2 Ark locations is a lengthy process, and not all of them are easy to access. There’s a level of difficulty associated with each location, which we’ll also be mentioning in the list below.

Gunbarrel Ark

Rage 2 Ark Locations
Gunbarrel.

Enemy Difficulty: N/A.

You visit this Rage 2 Ark Location as part of the tutorial, and it yields the incredibly powerful Combat Shotgun.

It mainly functions as a regular shotgun in all regards and is the most useful at close range. However, it also has an alternative fire mode where it unloads a single slug at longer range with massive knockback.

Upgrades:

  • Level 1 – This is the default state of the weapon.
  • Level 2 – Choose between increased Magazine Capacity or better Reload Speed.
  • Level 3 – Increased Damage inflicted on armor.
  • Level 4 – Choose between increasing the Range of the shotgun or Rapid Fire.
  • Level 5 – Unlock Weapon Mastery. Kills at point blank range increase the damage of the next melee attack.

Dank Catacomb Ark

Enemy Difficulty: 7.

The Ark is located on the Northern side of Dealypipe Ark, in the Sekero Wetlands. It is surrounded by a number of houses with enemies on their roofs.

It contains the Firestorm Revolver, which is a really handy weapon early on. Not only do shots from this weapon deal incendiary damage, but they also stick to enemies. Players can press the alternative fire button to make them explode and deal splash damage in a small area of effect.

Upgrades:

  • Level 1 – This is the default state of the weapon.
  • Level 2 – Choose between increased Magazine Capacity or better Reload Speed.
  • Level 3 – Increased Explosion Range.
  • Level 4 – Choose between enemy Seeker Rounds or Rapid Fire.
  • Level 5 – Unlock Weapon Mastery. Targets burned by the weapon stay on fire for a more extended amount of time.

Greenhaven Ark

Enemy Difficulty: 10.

This ark is present in the Northernmost part of the map. It is by far the most difficult ark to access in the early part of the game. When you get to this location, you will see a number of enemies that are fighting with each other.

This is an incredibly difficult Rage 2 Ark Location that contains the powerful Hyper-Cannon weapon. The Hyper-Cannon can fire a powerful single-shot attack by default. But holding down the alternative fire button will charge it up to deliver a devastating long range attack as well.

Upgrades:

  • Level 1 – This is the default state of the weapon.
  • Level 2 – Choose between increased Magazine Capacity or better Reload Speed.
  • Level 3 – A single shot from this weapon damages all armor parts on an enemy.
  • Level 4 – Choose between decreased Charge Time or Rapid Fire.
  • Level 5 – Unlock Weapon Mastery. Kills with charged shots also make the enemy explode and deal splash damage.

Needle Falls Ark

Rage 2 Ark Locations
Needle Falls.

Enemy Difficulty: 7.

This is located on the Southwestern side of The Wilds area on a rocky ridge. So it is better if you ride there on a flying vehicle such as the Icarus. After demolishing the threats, you can open the ark to reveal the weapon present inside.

Now this Ark contains the most unique weapon in the game, the Grav-Dart Launcher. But the effectiveness of this in combat is highly dependent on the player’s skill. Primer shots with this weapon tag enemies with tiny darts. You can then use the alternative fire mode to launch those enemies at your desired target.

Upgrades:

  • Level 1 – This is the default state of the weapon.
  • Level 2 – Choose between increased Magazine Capacity or better Reload Speed.
  • Level 3 – Increase the fire rate of the Primer Shots.
  • Level 4 – Choose between improving the Homing Power of the Primer Shots or increased Rate of Fire.
  • Level 5 – Unlock Weapon Mastery. Shooting an enemy with at least 10 shots before launching them creates an explosion on impact.

Shrouded Vault Ark

Rage 2 Ark Locations
Shrouded Vault.

Enemy Difficulty: 6.

This ark is centered inside a tunnel which is located on the Eastern corner of the Dune Sea region. Unlocking this Ark is a complicated and time consuming procedure because it requires you to deactivate two substations linked to the ark. One substation can be found to the East of this ark while the other is located on the southern side of it. Following the massive pipelines will also lead you to these substations.

Your reward for opening this Rage 2 Ark Location is the Charged Plasma Cannon, which is a high rate-of-fire energy weapon. This gun fires plasma bolts at a moderate rate by default, but as you hold down the fire button it starts to overheat. Once you cross the heat threshold marked on screen, the rate of fire doubles.

If you keep firing for too long however, it enters cooldown mode and cannot be used again for a short period.

Upgrades:

  • Level 1 – This is the default state of the weapon.
  • Level 2 – Choose between increased cooling in Cooldown Mode or increased cooling after Overheating.
  • Level 3 – Lower the Temperature Threshold for the increased fire rate.
  • Level 4 – Choose between enemy Seeker Rounds or Rapid Fire.
  • Level 5 – Unlock Weapon Mastery. The Rate of Fire gradually increases while at optimal temperature levels.

Strongbox Ark

Enemy Difficulty: 4.

It can be found towards the southeast of the Earthscar Ark in the center of Torn Plains region. Unlike other Arks, this is located in the middle of the city and is protected by a group of enemies. After defeating them, make your way to the front door of the Ark, open the door and equip the weapon inside.

You get the Smart Rocket Launcher from this Ark, which is a must-have for any arsenal. It’s basic attack launches a high damage missile towards the enemy, but it can also be used to target more than one foe at a time.

Holding down the alternative fire button allows you to lock onto multiple targets at a time, then unleash a barrage of homing micro-rockets.

Upgrades:

  • Level 1 – This is the default state of the weapon.
  • Level 2 – Choose between locking onto one Additional Target or better Reload Speed.
  • Level 3 – Instantly lock onto enemies with Quick Lock.
  • Level 4 – Choose between locking onto another Additional Target or increased Magazine Capacity.
  • Level 5 – Unlock Weapon Mastery. Press fire again while a missile is airborne to detonate it.

Upgrades:

  • Level 2 – Dash massively reduces enemy target acquisition and also reduces incoming damage by 30% for 1 second.
  • Level 3 – Dash completely ruins enemy target acquisition and also reduces incoming damage by 50% for 1.5 seconds.

Canyon Cove Ark

Canyon Cove.

Enemy Difficulty: 5.

It is directly to the Southeast of the Great Crack ark in the same region of Broken Tract. Once you reach there you will see that unlike the arks mentioned before, this is out in the open. There’s probably only one building to take cover behind while fighting the enemies surrounding the Ark.

This Ark rewards players with the Defibrillation ability, which brings you back from the brink of death and gives you a second wind. This might not be particularly useful on easier modes, but this is a must-have for those playing on harder difficulty settings. Nightmare and Ultra Nightmare are almost impossible to beat without this.

Upgrades:

  • Level 1 – Regenerate 5% health per successful shock.
  • Level 2 – Health gained from a successful shock is increased to 10%.
  • Level 3 – Health gained from a successful shock is increased to 15%.
  • Level 4 – Health gained from a successful shock is increased to 20%.

Earthscar Ark

Enemy Difficulty: 3.

The Earthscar Ark is located on the Northern side of the Torn Plains region near the hill. The area around the ark is quite open and full of enemies. Locate the Ark after taking down these enemies, open the main gate and secure one of the best nanotrites in the game

Players find the Slam ability in this Rage 2 Ark Location, allowing you to smash your fist into the ground and create an area-of-effect attack. The effectiveness of this ability is increased from elevated altitudes. So the higher you jump, the more damage it inflicts.

  • Level 1 – Slam damage starts at 100%.
  • Level 2 – Slam damage is increased to 125%.
  • Level 3 – Slam damage is maxed out at 150%.

Dealypipe Ark

The Dealypipe Ark can be found in the swamps of the Sekreto Wetlands in close proximity to the abandoned city. You won’t see a number of enemies here except a Junk Mek guarding the Ark. After defeating it, you can interact with the main gate of the ark and unlock the relevant ability.

Acquire the Rush ability by unlocking this Ark and gain the power to sprint extremely fast. There’s really not much more to this. It allows you to move inhumanly fast for a short period of time, after which it has to recharge.

Upgrades:

  • Level 1 – Rush starts at 125% speed.
  • Level 2 – Sprint speed is increased to 150%.
  • Level 3 – Sprint speed is increased to 175%.

Great Crack Ark

Enemy Difficulty: 3.

This is one of the three arks located in the Broken Tract region, towards the North of the point where you will find the Junkers Pass Ark. After reaching there, you will find a settlement protected by enemies. After dealing with them, jump over the ledge and you will see the Great Crack Ark, which you can open easily by using your focus.

A double jump is useful in any situation, and that’s precisely what you get from this Rage 2 Ark Location. It is, however, technically called the Grav-Jump.

Pressing the jump button while already in the air allows you to extend the length of your jump and cross great distances.

Upgrades:

  • Level 1 – The starting boost that launches you into the air.

Enemy Difficulty: 2.

After you have finished the tutorial, the Junker Pass Ark is one of the only four arks that is visible on the map, and it is the closest to the point from where you will start your journey. It is located in the Twisting Canyons region and is Northwest of the Quake Hill ark. After reaching the desired location, you will see an outpost guarded by a few enemies. Head towards the right, and from the back you can reach the ark by defeating those enemies.

This Rage 2 Ark Location yields another powerful melee ability called Shatter. When you use this, the player character lunges towards enemies and unleashes a powerful kinetic shockwave from their hand. The attack has incredible knockback power, and it can also blow off the armor.

Upgrades:

  • Level 1 – Shatter damage starts out at 100%.
  • Level 2 – Shatter damage is increased to 125%.
  • Level 3 – Shatter damage is increased to 150%.

When used, it creates a singularity that pulls in all nearby enemies and then finishes with a small explosion. Players can step into the vortex to launch themselves up into the air as well.

Upgrades:

  • Level 1 – Vortex strength starts out at 100%.
  • Level 2 – Vortex strength and range is increased to 150%.

This Ark can be found in the Western part of the Broken Tract area to the East of the Dealypipe ark. Here, you will find a number of enemies fighting with each other and a Giant Robot. After you take down these enemies, you can access the Ark which is right next to the robot.

A much needed Barrier ability can be gained from the Spikewind Rage 2 Ark Location. Essentially, this allows you to erect a barrier made of energy in front of you. It stops both bullets and explosions, and is especially useful at higher difficulties.

Upgrades:

  • Level 1 – Barrier lasts 10 seconds by default.
  • Level 2 – Barrier duration is increased to 12.5 seconds.
  • Level 3 – Barrier duration is increased to 15 seconds.
