10 Secret Chests Locations In A Plague Tale Requiem

Just like the secret bracer armor, there are 10 secret chest locations to find in various chapters of A Plague Tale Requiem. Opening all chests requires 1 knife that breaks every time you use it to open the chest. If you don’t have the knife, you can’t open a chest, and it will not count towards Explorer trophy/achievement progression.

You can check the trophy/achievement and learn how many you have opened so far, but the tracker will not tell you which ones are missing. That is why we have curated all 10 secret chest locations guide that contains easy-to-understand instructions and images.

Let’s have a look at all the Chest locations in A Plague Tale Requiem:

Chapter 3

There are no secret chests for you to find in Chapters 1 and 2, so you should start opening your first secret chest from Chapter 3 of the game. 

There is one chest that you will find in Chapter 3 of the game. Reach the location as shown in the image, then go to the far left side to obtain the knife. After that, turn 180 degrees and open the secret chest using the breakable knife. 

You can see the secret chest in the image we captured below on the far right side. You just need a knife to open it and luckily that too can be collected in this room. 

Chapter 4

Chapter 4 contains just one secret chest, but to reach its location, you need to go through the rats-infested street and at the far left side of the road, as seen in the image here below.

The first step that you need to do here is to take out your igniter pot and throw it at the rats. This will create a massive flame, giving Amicia and Hugo enough room to cross safely to the next part. If you don’t have the pot, you can quickly craft it and then throw it at the rats and engulf them in flames, as you can see in the image here.

The next part involves you shooting down the cart using your igniter sling, lighting up the flame on it. This will allow you to clear away the rats from the cart that you see in the image here and use it to navigate to the far side of the road to access the ladder. 

Drag the cart to the far left side of the street, and you will find a ladder. Climb it up, and a secret chest will be there for you to open. You must try to upgrade Amicia’s abilities here, as a challenge awaits in the next few chapters. 

The secret chest of chapter 2 that you see in the image here should give you enough tools to upgrade your character’s abilities if you have not done that already. 

Chapter 5

Finding the 3rd secret chest in Chapter 5 will require you to strike a contraption and make way so that you can access the ladder and reach the secret chest location. For that, you need to reach the point, as seen in the image above, in chapter 5, and then get off the boat and go to the far end of the room you see here.  

Once you are at the opposite end of the boat, you will find this weight or contraption hanging on the roof. Take out your sling and hit it. This will allow the opposite weight to fall down, causing slight damage to the side rails of the pier where you parked your boat. The damage is decent enough for Amicia and Hugo to venture ahead and find the secret chest of this chapter.

Hugo asks Amicia if she is hurt, and she jokes about not being crushed by the dropped weight. This will indicate that the path to venture behind this building or room is open, and you need to explore it.

The next step for you to do is to take the course that you created after dropping the weight and go back to this building. Once you’re there, you will find a ladder that leads to the upper floor of the building. Climb it, and you will find the secret chest location in A Plague Tale Requiem, as seen in the image here below. 

Chapter 6

The next secret chest is located in Chapter 6 of A Plague Tale Requiem. You will need to reach the area and go through the door, as you see in the image above.

Once you’re inside, Amicia will be terrified and tell Hugo that she can’t do this anymore and the injury hurts so much. 

The room in the image above that you see is the one where you will find the fourth secret chest in the game. Instead of going to the left, just crouch and go through the small opening that you see in the image above, and you will find the 4th secret chest there.  

Chapter 7

The 5th secret chest is located in Chapter 7 of the game, and you will need to reach the location as shown in the image above. A broken ship can be seen on your right that contains the secret chest. 

Just climb down the platform, go straight, and take a right to get onboard the ship. After that, you will find the secret chest on the far left side of the ship. It’s pretty easy to find so far in the game, and you can’t really miss it. 

Chapter 9

Chapter 9 in A Plague Tale Requiem contains secret chests #6 & #7.

The 6th secret chest can be found in chapter 9 of A Plague Tale Requiem. The Observation Tower that you can see in the image is the one where you will find the chest. However, you will need to do a little trick before you get access to its locked gate.

Just run towards the Observation Tower and go to the far left side of it. You will find a small opening that will give you enough space to shoot your sling and break the lock attached to the door from the inside. Once you’ve done that, just approach the front door of the tower, and you will find the 6th secret chest location inside the tower of A Plague Tale Requiem.   

Secret Chest 7

The 7th secret chest in A Plague Tale Requiem requires you to do a little bit of platforming to reach it. First off, you will need to start approaching the chest’s location after you have been to this point, as shown in the image above of chapter 9 in the game. 

Go through the door and take a right. Then keep going further a little and climb up the platform that you see in the image we captured here below.

Even though both images that you see above and below may look like same, they are not. There are basically two platforms that you need to climb. The first one comes right after you leave the door. After that, you go up the hill a bit, and to your left will be the next platform that you must climb [image shown below].

After climbing two platforms, you will reach the top and will spot a soldier talking with a woman. This will be your cue that you’ve reached the location of the 7th secret chest in the game. 

The chest can be seen near the edge of the rock, as you can see in the image here above.

Chapter 10

Finding the 8th secret location will require you to reach the first floor through the room that you see in the image. To reach it, you will need Sophia’s help to light her amulet and find a safe passage from a rat-infested street. Once you do that and reach the farthest side, you will find stairs leading you to the first floor. The secret chest can be seen on the wooden plank, as it is also visible in the image we attached above.

Chapter 11

The 9th chest can be obtained after you’ve reached the location of chapter 11, as seen in the image above. What you need to do is climb up the stairs and make a right. 

Once you’ve climbed enough and reached the hall, take a right, and you will see a contraption that ties the chains together and stops the mechanism. The next action that you need to do is take out your sling weapon and strike the object that tiers chains with each other. 

Once you do that, the chains will be set in motion, and Amicia can go through the tight gap and access the other side of this hall. Sophia and Amicia will also contemplate that something is moving after she has hit the contraption and freed the chains. 

Next, take a left, and you will come across another room with chains on the door, as seen in the image here below. Go through it, and you will find your 9th secret chest in A Plague Tale Requiem. 

Chapter 13

The 10th and the last secret chest location is in Chapter 13 of the game. To access the secret chest, first, you need to reach the location we have shown in the image above. Once you’re there, turn to your left, and you will find a door that can be opened without requiring a thing. 

After opening the door, turn to your right, and you will see the last secret chest beside the door in a corner. 

Missable Chests

There are no hidden chests that may be overlooked, and even after finishing the main storyline or switching to New Game+ mode, you can still open all of the chests by using Chapter Select. Despite this, you will still need Knives in order to access the Secret Chests. In the event that you do not have one and you happen to find a place that has a hidden chest, you will not be able to open it. You really need to use a knife to open the chest in order for it to count toward the advancement of the trophy, so that’s another thing to keep in mind if you want to get credit for it.

Because of this, we strongly advise that you avoid breaking knives on your adversaries. They can only be used once and are destroyed after a single successful murder. The most effective method to get all of the hidden chests in A Plague Tale Requiem is to ensure that you always have at least one Knife in your inventory so that you may access the next Secret Chest.

When Amicia is in close combat with melee adversaries, she will occasionally instinctively wield a knife to defend herself. If this occurs, you must quickly return to the previous checkpoint. If you don’t do that, there’s a chance you’ll discover a hidden chest but won’t be able to access its contents of it.

If you make it to a Secret Chest without a knife, you will need to use the Chapter Select option to start again from the most recent Knife Location and work your way forward.

On the other hand, if you play the game on the Narrative Difficulty setting, more knives will appear, whereas on higher settings, knives appear less often. Because of this, if you want to collect all of the knives, it’s in your best interest to play the game in the easiest setting.
