Sonic Frontiers: How To Drain The Water

Learn How To Drain The Water Located On The Ares Island In Sonic Frontiers.

Sonic Frontiers is a fun game that also features different types of puzzles, and the second one you will encounter in the game is Draining Water in Ares Island which is the second zone you progress to. Now, the puzzle is relatively simple, but the tricky part is knowing what to do and where to find the relative parts.

Key Highlights
  • In Sonic Frontiers, players must clear a pool of water on Ares Island by pulling a large plug floating in the center.
  • To unlock the puzzle, players must first claim the Chaos Emerald on Ares Island and complete Knuckle’s second set of memories.
  • A bullet/bomb will appear on the map across the plug, indicating that players can attempt the puzzle.
  • Players must locate a large cannon and fire it at the black plug using a bullet, which can be found in a small structure to the right of the pool.
  • To transport the bullet to the cannon, players must use Sonic‘s Cyloop ability by drawing a circle around the bullet and breaking it.
  • Once the bullet is loaded into the cannon, players must aim the crosshair at the center eye of the large black plug and fire before the timer runs out.
  • If players fail the timed task, they can travel back to the bullet’s location and try again, as the bullet will have respawned.

The game asks you to clear the pool of water by pulling the large plug floating in the center. However, many players get confused about how to do it, so we are here. In this guide on Sonic Frontiers Drain The Water, we will solve the mystery of how to drain the water.

First of all, you should be aware that the puzzle is in progress locked, just like the grave mystery puzzle which you encountered earlier on Kronos. However, to unlock the puzzle, you will have to claim the Chaos Emerald, which is on Ares Island. Furthermore, you will also be required to complete the Knuckle’s second set of memories.

Afterward, when you have completed the above requirements, a bullet/bomb will appear on the map across the plug and will let you attempt the puzzle.

Locating The Cannon

Firstly, you will have to follow the quest marker, which will lead you to a large cannon. It is fairly obvious that you are required to fire the large cannon at the black plug to drain the water, but how and with what. The first thought that came to our mind was to load sonic into it, but that did not work.

Next, we explored the area and found out that to the right of the pool from the location where the cannon is, there is a small structure at the top which is the bullet that we require to load into the cannon.

Transporting The Bullet

Once you reach the bullet location, you will be a bit confused as the bullet will not do anything, and nothing will prompt up. So what are you to do here? Well, it is time to use Sonic’s cyloop ability, which will help you transport the bullet to your desired location.

Now, you have to use the cyloop, draw a circle around the bullet, and then break it. When done right, the trail of the cyloop will turn pink.

This is when the bullet will start levitating, and a 30-second timer starts. And to make it worse, you are also not able to dash while carrying the bullet so you just will have to walk over to the cannon and load it up, which leads to a loading cut scene.

Completing The Puzzle

Finally, before the timer runs out, you will have to jump in the cannon and use it to aim the crosshair to the center eye of the large black plug and then just fire, which will break the plug and clear the pool. Hence, you have achieved your task of draining the water.

Lastly, we would like to inform you that in case you fail with the timed task, then just travel back to the bullet’s location and try it again, as the bullet will have respawned.

Furthermore, we believe that you would like to know more about the game’s mechanics, such as Parrying, Fast Traveling, Light Speed Dash, Infinite Boost, and more.

Also, there are collectibles in the game, such as the Egg Memo Recordings and others. And if you need help with emulating the game, then use our Sonic Frontiers Emulating guide as a reference.
