The Hermit Koco is the one who has powers and knowledge related to the stats for Offense and Defense. Therefore, the Hermit Koco is the one you have to go to when in need of enhancing your stats for the Offense and Defense. Just bring enough lost Koco to the Hermit Koco in order to get amply boosted Offense and Defense for all the challenges that you have to face.

The Hermit Koco will take seeds found while fishing. It also takes seeds that you obtain upon defeating enemies or those obtained by destroying breakable objects. The two types of seeds have different purposes and serve to increase a separate stat.

The seeds, which are red in color, will increase Sonic’s attack power. On the other hand, the smooth blue seeds tend to increase Sonic’s defense and enhance his survivability.

The Elder Koco’s Abilities

The Elder Koco is the one who has powers and knowledge related to the stats for Speed and Ring Count. Hence, you have to make your way to the Elder Koco whenever you wish to have your stats for the Speed and Ring Count enhanced.

As with the Hermit Koco, make sure to bring enough lost Koco to the Elder Koco to have the right amount of boost to your stats. Especially in an open-world game like Sonic Frontiers, you would need to have as much of Speed as you can possibly get.

What Are Koco?

Koco is a magical creature acting as a non-playable character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. They are a mysterious stone-like species and the ancient inhabitants of the Starfall Islands. Koco had previously been occupying the ancient ruins that litter the landscape of Kronos Island.

Koco act as friendly mystical creatures scattered across the map of Sonic Frontiers. They are helpful in a lot of ways and offer a lot of services to the player. Whenever you come across a Koco, you have to interact with them, which will allow you to increase your attack power (Offense) or defense (health). You have to trade Red Seeds of Power to enhance your attack power. On the other hand, you can trade Blue Seeds of Defense for the purpose of enhancing your health.

The player can make use of Koco in game-play to quickly transport the player to their location on the island. For this, you have to discover a specific Koco first in order to be able to teleport to its location. Koco tends to make noises resembling those of bells in order to provide hints for the player to find them.

Powers Of Koco

  • When you find Koco, you can give them Red Seeds of Power to raise Sonic’s attack power. This allows you to deal more damage while making use of various moves and abilities from Sonic’s vast skillset.
  • On the other hand, giving them Blue Seeds of Defense will allow for Sonic’s defense to be raised. This is especially useful for combat situations where you will be taking a lot of damage. That is when the enhanced defense allows you to have better survivability. This essentially gives you a chance to put up a good fight.
  • Koco also serves to enhance the maximum speed you can attain while playing as Sonic in Sonic Frontiers. Though the character already boasts a lot of speed, in an open-world game of today’s age, any amount of boost to speed is appreciable.
  • Last but not least, Koco also helps enhance your max ring count, which allows you to hold more rings at once.

Rings

A Ring is an object that has appeared across Sonic the Hedgehog series constantly. Rings are special objects that serve as a unique health system in gameplay throughout most of the series. For the most part, as long as you hold even one Ring, it will protect them from losing a life.

Instead of losing a life upon taking fatal damage, the player actually loses a portion of their Rings. The amount of the Rings has varied across different titles in the series. Apart from this unique functionality, Rings tend to serve many other purposes in different games. For instance, collecting them grants things like extra lives, Continues, and points.
