BEST Combos In Bayonetta 3: Weapons & Characters

Learn the best combos of both Bayonetta and the new character, Viola in this new third installment of the legendary Action series.

Story Highlights
  • Bayonetta 3 has three main characters, including the new, Viola and the returning witches, Bayonetta and Jeanne
  • While Jeanne is closely identical in moveset to Bayonetta, both Viola and the former possess a strong suit of combos in their arsenal
  • Bayonetta has a ton of weapons, each with their different combos that can be great for a variety of situations and fights
  • Viola only uses her signature Mab Dachi Sword along with her darts, she is also also able to summon the demon known as Cheshire
  • Learning the best combos is crucial as the game actively encourages players to add style and finesse to their gameplay

Bayonetta 3 manages to surpass the gameplay properties of the first two games as it reintroduces fans to the legendary Witch and a new playable character to the mix, Viola, as they both possess a unique array of arsenal in combat. There is also the exception of Jeanne, who unfortunately has the exact same combos and weapons as Bayonetta but still manages to have her own special sections and side missions in the game. So our guide to Bayonetta 3 focuses on the best combos that players can use as the legendary Witch and Viola.

Bayonetta herself has access to 10 different weapons, each with a drastically different moveset than the other, and combos themselves need to have precise button inputs in order to execute them properly. Viola only uses her Mab Dachi katana, but each of her best combos packs a powerful punch in Bayonetta 3, just like the main protagonist. So without further delay, let’s dive into these best combos for each character and the weapons.

The Best Weapon Combos Of Bayonetta

Bayonetta 3
Bayonetta (image credit: eXputer)

As shown in the image above, Bayonetta is the main heroine of the game, and as stated previously, there are a total of eleven different weapons you can use as her, but we are excluding the handguns; in our personal experience, they do not feature any finishing blows and exist solely for the opening missions of the game.

It is also worth stating that you can end each combo with a demon summoned by pressing the ZL trigger button, which is great for an additional layer on top of the hectic action rush. So let’s dive deeper into each of the other unique weapons and discuss the best combos that you can use for them in Bayonetta 3.

Color My World

Bayonetta 3 weapons
Color my world (image credit: eXputer)

These are the signature pistols of Bayonetta in this game that most players will use more often than not, along with any of the other weapons. These pistols offer ranged attacks from afar, and the combos consist of powerful strikes with devastating finishers that resemble the demon Madama Butterfly’s stylish heels. Learning the best combos of this weapon takes priority since it will be the first armament you use in the game.

Combo 1

Bayonetta 3 best combos
The first combo (image credit: eXputer)
  • Button Input: 2x Punch, Kick, (Gap), kick

As shown in the image above, the following combo ranks at the top of the Color my World’s arsenal as it beautifully combines Bayonetta’s opening punches with a strong kick followed by a split-second interval into a stylish uppercut kick that will send enemies flying into the sky.

If you can master the timing of when to give the gap between the two kicks, then you can easily send opponents for aerial attacks as well as deal massive damage to them at the same time.

Combo 2

Color my world 2
The second combo (image credit: eXputer)
  • Button Input: 4x Punch, Kick

This is a pretty simple but deadly combo that allows Bayonetta to unleash a barrage of kicks that will annihilate the health of bosses in a matter of seconds. It can also be pretty effective if you use it on larger enemies that are only a bar of health away. Furthermore, it also has a chance to stun them momentarily, allowing you to keep your strikes once more and even follow up with a demon summon at the end of the chain.

Combo 3

Color my world
The third combo (image credit: eXputer)
  • Button input: 2x punch, kick, punch

The third combo on our list, as shown in the image above, is another short one that you can use on most bosses who have a short window of dealing damage, as well as enemies who are grouped together. The finisher is great here as it basically summons a giant fist from the ground that can deal lots of damage and launch enemies too.

Combo 4

Color my world Bayonetta
The fourth combo of color my world (image credit: eXputer)
  • Button input: 2x punch, 3x kick

Finally, the last best combo of Color My World that you will want to use is the one shown in the image above, as it can deal a heavy chunk of damage as Bayonetta summons two gigantic kicks that will destroy enemies if given the perfect window of opening. From our experience, it is best used when you counter a boss or a large enemy using Witch time in order to dish out a burst of DPS to their health bar.

G-Pillar

G-Pillar Bayonetta 3
The G-Pillar (Image credit: eXputer)

As shown in the image above, the G-Pillar is essentially one of the greatsword archetype weapons of the game, which allows you to deal strong blows at the cost of the slow combo-dealing speed. It is a fantastic choice to use if you’re up against large or gigantic-sized enemies. Its slow swings are compensated with the finishing blows, which are large holographic claws that can shred enemies if appropriately executed.

Combo 1

G pillar bayonetta
The first combo (image credit: eXputer)
  • Button Input: 2x punch (Gap), kick

The first combo here is a short one with a gap in between, so the timing is pretty tight if you want to input it successfully using the weapon. After the initial two punches, as soon as Bayonetta strikes down the weapon, if you press the kick finisher after a slight second, you will be able to dish out claws that extend enemies into the air. It is great if you’re to looking to gain some highborn air from a short combo.

Combo 2

G pillar bayonetta
The second combo (image credit: eXputer)
  • Button Input: 2x Punch, 2x kick

Once you input the first two punch inputs, the last two kick inputs will allow Bayonetta to dish out an AoE damage with the large claws as she spins them around, great for clearing enemies trying to gang up on you.

Combo 3

The third combo (image credit: eXputer)
  • Button input: 2x punch, Kick, punch

Another short yet effective combo of the G-pillar allows you to launch the humanoid-sized enemies upwards into the air as the last punch input here allows Bayonetta to summon the claw once again to lift her foes off the ground and launch them into the air to follow up with aerial attacks.

Ignis Araneae Yo-Yo

the best bayonetta 3 combos
Ignis Araneae Yo-Yo (image credit: eXputer)

One of our personal favorite weapons to use in the game is the Ignis Araneae Yo-Yo which, just as the name describes, is a flaming Yo-Yo powered by a powerful spider-like demon that can sting enemies at fast speeds. The weapon offers a variety of ranged attacks that are equally crazy to witness and immensely fun to deal with enemies. Follow along as we discuss the best combos of this weapon in the game in order to master its basics.

Combo 1

Ignis araneae Yo-yo
The first combo (image credit: eXputer)

  • Button input: 2x punch, 3x kick

Since this weapon is fast in its attacks, it’d be wise to use one of the shortest combos, which can transition to a deadly finisher to sweep enemies off their feet in an instant. The last kick inputs will transform Bayonetta into a spider-like demon as she sends her foes flying into the air, which an aerial attack can follow up.

Combo 2

Bayonetta weapons
The second combo (image credit: eXputer)
  • Button input: Punch, 2x kick

Short but deadly as ever, the combo will allow you to launch enemies high into the air as the Yo-Yo manifests into a whip-like cane that will vertically uppercut enemies with a powerful blow.

Combo 3

The third Yo-Yo combo
The Third combo (image credit: eXputer)

  • Button input: 4x punch

Ignis Araneae Yo-Yo’s barrage attack is pretty effective at ranged enemies. But by all means, we wouldn’t suggest button-mashing it constantly, as style is the name of the game here when it comes to mastering Bayonetta 3’s combat. The barrage attacks of this combo will transform Bayonetta into the demon, stabbing the targeted foe or area multiple times with the tail of the demonic creature and then, lastly, one final slam with it.

Combo 4

Bayonetta 3 combos
The fourth combo (image credit: eXputer)
  • Button input: 3x Punch, 2x kick

In the following combo, Bayonetta will use the whip-like Yo-Yo weapon to extend herself to the enemy as she finishes it off with a strike into the air followed up by a large impact to the ground in the weapon’s demonic form, dealing large AoE damage to her foes.

Dead End Express

The Dead End Express bayonetta 3
Dead End Express (image credit: eXputer)

One of the game’s crazier weapons revolves around Bayonetta using a literal tank engine called the Dead End Express as the centerpiece, which may sound hilarious at first, but with a rollercoaster game such as Bayonetta, it’s an understandable statement. It is another hard-hitting slow weapon with combos that can deal an enormous amount of AoE damage in its wake.

Combo 1

dead end express combo 1
The first combo (image credit: eXputer)

  • Button input: 2x punch, kick, punch

The first combo is pretty straightforward as it will allow you to land a couple of hits using the weapon and transition it right into the transformation strike, which will enable Bayonetta to derail the tracks of enemies with a devastating AoE sweep.

Combo 2

dead ed express combo 2
The second combo (image credit: eXputer)
  • Button input: punch, kick, punch

Another short but easy combo that you can use with the weapon, which, when executed, will allow players to deal damage in a straight line, which can be pretty helpful if you want to close in on enemies which are far away from your position.

Combo 3

dead end express combos
The third combo (image credit: eXputer)
  • Button input: 2x punch, 2x kick, punch

The last best combo for the weapon revolves around using the first two strikes as normal, and by transitioning into the last two kicks and punch, Bayonetta will manifest her train engine demon and rampage across the area to deal a huge chunk of AoE damage to her foes.

Ribbit Libido BZ55

Bayonetta 3 Ribbit libido
The Ribbit Libido BZ55 (Image credit: eXputer)

The Ribbit Libido BZ55 is a unique weapon because it is a stage microphone that can channel amplifier waves in a set area, one of its few signature combo finishers. These waves can inflict damage over time on enemies when they’re caught in its radius, making it yet another fun weapon to use if you’re looking to spice your gameplay format up. Follow along with us for the best combos of Ribbit Libido BZ55 in Bayonetta 3.

Combo 1

Ribbit Labido 1
The first combo (image credit: eXputer)

The combo is mostly self-explanatory here as Bayonetta lunges the microphone twice before transforming into an aquatic demon to unleash the sonic waves in a large radius to damage her foes. This combo is the way to go if you’re looking to get a grip on crowd control during mid-game combat encounters.

Combo 2

If you’re looking for high burst damage on a boss or a significant enemy who’s left room for error in their defenses? Look no further to the combo shown in the image above as Bayonetta will twirl the microphone and end the entire chain with an upward AoE splash damage strike in her demonic form of the weapon.

Combo 3

The biggest difference with this combo is that it can be used to deal high burst damage to any kind of enemy or even multiple foes at once; during the finisher of the combo chain, Bayonetta slashes at her enemies with a whip, dealing massive damage to anyone caught in its strikes.

Simoon

Another weapon that quickly got our attention was the Simoon, which is essentially a fan blade that can deal damage in a wide area, plus they are fast and deadly at close range. The weapon’s finishers can transform Bayonetta into a winged creature that can slice enemies with its talons. Follow along with us as we discuss the best combos for the Simoon in Bayonetta 3.

Combo 1

One of our favorite combos that we found immensely helpful is shown in the image above as Bayonetta will unleash some short strikes, and then with the finishing blow, she will transform into the winged demon of the weapon to deliver a large AoE damage-dealing tornado.

Combo 2

Simoon combo 2
The second combo (image credit: eXputer)

The following combo is almost identical to the first one we mentioned previously, as this one allows you to cancel out one of the kick prompts in between so you can deal the finisher damage as soon as possible.

Cruel Altea

Bayonetta 3 cruel altea
Cruel Altea (image credit: eXputer)

If you’re a fan of pure melee weapons such as Beowulf from Devil May Cry 5, then Cruel Altea is right up your alley as it’s all about powerful and gruesome strikes from these mechanoid-like mechanisms on Bayonetta’s arms and legs. During the finishing blows of the combo, it will transform Bayonetta into a frost damage-dealing centaur, capable of wreaking havoc on opponents with its AoE blasts and attacks.

Combo 1

Cruel altea combo 1
The first combo (image credit eXputer)
  • Button Input: 3x punch, 3x kick

One of the best AoE damage-dealing combos, as shown in the image above, revolves around Bayonetta dealing a flurry of strikes in quick succession. It is followed up by her transforming into the centaur and dishing out an icicle tornado to annihilate her enemies caught in it.

Feeling overcrowded? the following combo shown in the image above ends the chain with a devastating finish as Bayonetta strikes down icicle centaurs in all four locations around her, dealing damage to anyone caught in its destruction.

Combo 3

bayonetta 3 best combos
The third combo (image credit eXputer)
  • button input: 4x punch, kick

This ranged combo is pretty simple enough as players dish out a flurry of strikes and the cherry on top is that Bayonetta will deliver an explosive finish which is basically a ranged centaur that will explode into a tornado. It is great to catch off enemies who are situated at longer distances.

Combo 4

  • Button input: Punch, 2x kick

Lastly, another simple yet effective combo like this will allow players to launch themselves into the player along with a mini AoE blast to thin away any enemies that may surround the player. After which, you can then follow it up with an aerial attack if you so wish.

Tartarus

Bayonetta 3 Tartarus
Tartarus (image credit: eXputer)

Tartarus is a slow but highly effective weapon in the right hands as it is capable of dealing a solid amount of damage, but it is understandable if you don’t want to use it over the other fantastic weapons of the game. The demon of the weapon transforms Bayonetta into a unique mechanical marionette. Following are our hand-picked best combos that you can use on the weapon in Bayonetta 3.

Combo 1

The last combo that we recommend for the Tartarus is a simple combination of a couple of punch prompts followed up by kicks which will enable Bayonetta to leap straight into the air with her puppet-like claws slashing anyone in the path.

Abracadabra

Bayonetta 3 abracadabra
Abracadabra (image credit: eXputer)

Abracadabra is yet another weapon that will never cease to amaze you on your first time getting it, as it will alter Bayonetta’s appearance to fit a trickster or magician. Via this weapon, she is able to launch projectiles that resemble flocks of birds that are deadly against distanced enemies. The demonic form of the weapon transforms her into a devilish figure whose body is split into horizontal halves.

Combo 1

The following combo allows you to launch multiple projectiles at your enemy and is simply great if you’re looking to easily deal with enemies at greater distances.

Combo 2

The combo is great for dealing with enemies around the mid-range or close proximity, as Bayonetta will transform into her halved demon form and swing away her foes in a destructive manner during the finisher.

Cassiopeia

Bayonetta 3 Cassiopeia
Cassiopeia (image credit: eXputer)

Cassiopeia is basically a giant anchor that Bayonetta can use as a flail as she can constantly swing it around her enemies and long distances. The demonic transformation of the weapon will turn Bayonetta into a sea monster with tentacles, resembling the Kraken to an extent. Following are our best combos for the weapon in Bayonetta 3.

Combo 1

Cassiopeia first combo

  • Button input: 3x punch, kick, punch

It is an identical combo to the first one, but you can input an additional punch within it to squeeze out more damage for the enemy, or if you’re fighting a boss, you can use it whenever they’re stunned or if Bayonetta has successfully dodged and activated Witch Time.

Combo 3

We highly recommend using the combo as it will launch enemies into the air, allowing you to close in on them with additional aerial attacks using the weapon.

The Best Combos Of Viola

Bayonetta 3 Viola
Viola (image credit: eXputer)

One of the new playable characters in the game is Viola, but unlike Bayonetta or Jeanne, she can only use her signature weapon, the Mab Dachi, along with some darts. You will primarily be using that weapon in combat, and the key differences are that you can parry attacks instead of dodging to activate the Witch Time. Following are our hand-picked best combos to use with Viola using the Mab Dachi in Bayonetta 3.

Combo 1

The first combo of Viola
The first combo (image credit: eXputer)

One of the best combos of Viola in Bayonetta 3 revolves around quickly moving in for the strike with her fast attacks, and this combo fulfills that criteria for us. During the finisher, Viola will slash at her target with a fiery slash, great for dealing a stylish and quick blow to the enemy.

Combo 2

The second combo of Viola
The second combo (image credit: eXputer)

The combo is closely identical to the first one mentioned above, but the difference is that players can use it to quickly transition to the fiery final blow of the combo without having to press an identical prompt.

Combo 3

  • Button input: 3x punch, 2x kick

With the following combo shown in the image above, Viola will proceed to slice away at her enemies, with the finisher being that she leaps into the air and strikes the ground to cause an impact. It is a fantastic combo that is short and can make quick work of the enemy’s health bar when you parry their attacks and activate Witch Mode.

Combo 4

Viola fourth combo
The fourth combo (image credit: eXputer)

  • Button input: 4x punch, kick

The combo is essentially one of the barrage attacks of Viola as at the end of the chain, she will pull off multiple slicing attacks, which can pummel trash mob enemies in an instant. Furthermore, be sure to summon Cheshire at the end of each combo string if you want to add an additional layer to the damage, especially during boss fights.

The Wrap-Up

While both Viola and Bayonetta possess a fantastic array of combos, only a few may stand out as the best, whether it’s Bayonetta’s large assortment of weapons or Viola’s rageful attacks from the Mab Dachi. It is worth stating that Jeanne has the exact same moveset as Bayonetta, with only a couple of differences in that her Witch Mode activation window is much tighter than her friend’s.

The game doesn’t encourage your typical button mashing so learning the curve within each of the combos is essential to mastering the combat aspect. This wraps up our detailed guide to the best combos in Bayonetta 3; if you have any questions below or want to let us know your experience with the game so far, then be sure to tell us about it in the comments section below!
