Avatar Generations Tier List: Ranking all Characters

Bend your enemies to your will with our Avatar Generations Tier List

Just like every other gacha-style game, in Avatar Generations, the way to win is to know your character’s strengths and weaknesses to build the best team. Since this is a relatively new game, we have developed a comprehensive Avatar Generations tier list.

Important: The characters have one of the four bending styles: Fire, Air, Water & Earth. Although The Avatar has all of them, some have none. Every character is created differently, with their own set of unique skills and abilities.

The avatar generations tier list we made depends on several factors, including their attack power, tanking abilities, and other skills. You can view the summary table of the tier list right below.

Key Takeaways
  • Avatar Generations is the latest addition to the Avatar Franchise.
  • There are a total of 16 characters in the game as of yet.
  • Suki and Gyatso are currently the most popular characters in the game.
  • In terms of offense, no one can compete with Aang (Avatar State).
  • Gyatso and Iroh are the strongest support units in the game.
  • Toph (Earth Kingdom) has one of the best-distributed damage abilities in the game.

  • Soka (War Paint) is a good replacement for Katara (Bending Master).
  • Suki is the most well-rounded character in the game since her offense is as strong as her defense.
  • All Zukos have similar properties and are not very hard to counter.
  • Zuko’s Agni Kai version is the strongest version of Zuko because of his astounding DPS.
  • Sokka (Water Tribe) is one of the strongest characters when you are starting out.

S-Tier

Avatar generations- S Tier
S TIER

The S-Tier heroes in the avatar generation tier list wield the most power in the game. They can shift the tide of the match upside down and with the right support, can dominate any given match. They usually carry their teams, and if you are up against one of these heroes, you better hope to God that the nightmare finishes as fast as possible. Their skills and abilities are the strongest in the game, and these are the heroes you should strive for once you have started Avatar Generation. In the Avatar Generations tier list, they take the throne.

Aang (Avatar State)

CHARACTERSTIERELEMENTSKILLS
Aang (Avatar State)SAir, Water, Fire, EarthInflicts spirit damage, Cycle of the Elements

Element: Air, Water, Fire, and Earth.

Skill:

  • His biggest asset is when he inflicts spirit damage. This skill can possibly increase the cooldown of enemies by a whole turn. This beast-like skill also deals an additional hit per elemental effect ( Max: two extra hits).
  • Cycle of the Elements: in this particular skill, Aang deals damage to the opponent using any element except the elemental effect the opponent is not facing. For example, if the opponent is under damage from the water element, Aang can deal damage with all elements except water.

Description:

  • Aang has many versions in the game, but when it comes down to a perfect all round character, no one beats this version.
  • This beast possesses so much power that no other character can compete with him. His skills revolve around all 4 elements of the game.
  • The players can have a go at this character when using Aang (Last Airbender), but only when his hit points fall below 30 percent.

Toph (Earth Kingdom)

CHARACTERSTIERELEMENTSKILLS
Toph (Earth Kingdom)SEarthInflict damage, Dodge on every turn

Element: Earth

Skill:

  • Her best skill can inflict damage on all the characters in the match and simultaneously take ten percent of the turn bar of every character.
  • Her basic skill is also quite unique. She can inflict damage to front-row enemies and the enemies standing behind them as well.
  • And lastly, to put the cherry on top, Toph has a confirmed dodge on every turn, and every time she does, she gets a five percent of her turn bar. Toph is an absolute beast, to say the least. But one must play her strategically to wield her true powers

Description:

  • Toph (Earth Kingdom) is no Aang (Avatar State) but do not make the mistake of taking her lightly.
  • Her specialty lies in her amazing disruptive effects, astounding attack power, and ability to decrease enemies’ focus bar and delay their turns. Toph can carry any team she is in.

Katara (Bending Master)

CHARACTERSTIERELEMENTSKILLS
Katara (Bending Master)SWaterHealing allies, Deal astounding amounts of damage, Freeze opponent

Element: Water

Skill:

  • Her passive skill enables Katara to give herself a 35 percent boost in her turn bar, whilst also healing allies that fall below the 25 percent threshold.
  • Katara’s advanced skill is one of the best in the game. It allows her to deal astounding amounts of damage to all her opponents, and if she kills one (or more) with it, she gains an additional turn.
  • Her basic skill can possibly freeze her opponent, making them prone to critical damage.

Description:

  • Katara is a force to be reckoned with. Her strong attacking powers, mixed with amazing supporting abilities, are what make her so special.
  • Katara is an unbelievable asset to any team she is part of, and if you learn to harness her power, your team can be nothing short of unstoppable.

A-Tier

The second best tier
A TIER

The A-Tier Heroes are beasts. They come second in our Avatar Generations tier list. If you manage to play the game strategically, these characters can help you win almost any match. With good support, these characters are a force to be reckoned with.

Iroh

CHARACTERSTIERELEMENTSKILLS
IrohAFireHeal allies by a staggering 15 percent of max hitpoints, Reduce critical rate

Element: Fire

Skill:

  • One of the best abilities he has is to heal all his allies by a staggering 15 percent of their max hitpoints and simultaneously reduce the duration of an ongoing negative effect by a turn. Once he has used this skill, Iroh enters a relaxed state, which enables him to further heal allies and lower the SPD of his opponents.
  • He is also capable of handicapping his opponents by using his basic skill. If his enemy is buffed, he can remove one of the buffs, and also reduce their critical rate, and reduce their ATk by 10 percent per buff to a max of 30 percent.  Needless to say, that enemy will underperform throughout the match and hence, severely handicap the team.

Description:

  • Iroh is one of the best-supporting units in the game as of yet. He is essential to any team, that is destined to win every match. His contributions to any match should never be underestimated.

Aang (Last Airbender)

CHARACTERSTIERELEMENTSKILLS
Aang (Last Airbender)AAir, Water, Fire, EarthReduce opponent’s hit points, Delay his opponent’s turn

Element: Air, Water, Fire, and Earth.

Skill:

  • This version of Aang’s specialty is his passive skill. Once his hitpoints fall below the 30 percent threshold, he transforms into a completely different character. Aang (Avatar State) is an absolute powerhouse, capable of winning matches by himself. As long as you can keep him alive, he can turn the tide of the match in your favor.
  • His single-target attacks are of the best in the game. He can significantly reduce his opponent’s hit points, unlike most characters in the game.
  • He also has the ability to delay his opponent’s turn via his basic & advanced skills.

Description:

  • Aang (Last Airbender) might come off as underwhelming, but due to his skills, and the ability to transform the S-Tier Aang (Avatar State), he is deserving to be on this tier. He specializes in delaying enemies’ turns, AoE, and hard-hitting single-target attacks.

Zuko (Agni Kai)

CHARACTERSTIERELEMENTSKILLS
Zuko (Agni Kai)AFireCrit damage buff, Crit chance up, ATK buff

Element: Fire

Skill:

  • One of Zuko’s most powerful skills is his passive, in which he can gain amazing buffs based on the order of how he uses his attacks. Meaning he can choose a crit damage buff, crit chance up, or an ATK buff, depending on what you want. His buffs are one of the leading reasons why he is on the A-Tier.

Description:

  • Zuko (Agni Kai) is the strongest version of Zuko in the game. He can be useful in numerous situations but specializes in his hard-hitting capabilities.
  • Zuko is a powerhouse and not that hard to use. If you have an offensive playing style, choosing Zuko (Agni Kai) will surely not disappoint.

Suki

CHARACTERSTIERELEMENTSKILLS
SukiANoneTanking abilities, Defensive-offensive nature, Deal damage

Element: None

Skill:

  • Suki is one of the most popular characters in the game. She is all round character with great tanking abilities, coupled with amazing DPS. This means she can absorb a lot of damage, and then throw it right back. Her defensive-offensive nature is exactly what most players are intimidated by.
  • Her defensive-offensive nature is best described by her counter stance. This shoots up her ATk, and gives her a chance to deal damage right back, as she takes it. She can also target enemies in back rows, and remove enemies’ buffs.

Description:

  • Suki is a good character when dealing with any sort of opponent. However, due to her having no underlying weakness, she also does not have any unique strengths.
  • She is best described as a chameleon, adaptable to all types of situations.

Gyatso

Element: Air

Skill:

  • Gyatso is a unique character, particularly useful in throwing the opposing team in disarray. He can evade attacks and make his turn come by faster by using his passive skill.
  • He can heal himself and remove defense buffs.
  • His advanced skill can inflict many randomized negative status effects.

Description:

  • Gyatso might seem underwhelming but it is actually quite powerful. The defining drawback is that since he is a 5-star character, by the time you get him, he would not be very useful. Besides, he is a support hero, which might seem a bit underwhelming.

B-Tier

The B tier of avatar generations
B TIER

The B-Tier characters are nothing special, but underestimating them might not be the best idea. If you ignore them for too long, they can turn the match upside down. They finish in third place in our Avatar Generations tier list.

Sokka (War Paint)

CHARACTERSTIERELEMENTSKILLS
Sokka (War Paint)BNoneSwitch current weapon, SPD buff

Element: None

Skill:

  • Sokka’s advanced skill is what makes him so special. It enables him to switch his current weapon, which allows him to use a different basic skill.
  • To go along with that, every time he uses this skill, he gets an SPD buff and also gives one to his ally, who has the highest ATK.
  • Not to mention. He also gains 20 percent of his max hit points.

Description:

  • Sokka (War Paint) is a very interesting character and is quite tricky to deal with. His offensive prowess should not be taken lightly, but his real strength is his supporting capabilities. To put a cherry on top, he also possesses great offensive buffers.
  • Sokka is not very strong, but his tricky nature can throw your enemy off. If you use him wisely, he can definitely prove useful.

Zuko (Fire Nation)

CHARACTERSTIERELEMENTSKILLS
Zuko (Fire Nation)BFireInflict 10 percent more damage per buff

Element: Fire

Skill:

  • This version of Zuko is quite easy to counter, but if you set him up properly and buff him up, you will begin to see his true strength.
  • Once Zuko is set setup properly, he can do tremendous amounts of damage. When he has several buffs, his advanced skill can inflict 10 percent more damage per buff and goes up to a staggering 40 percent.

Description:

  • Zuko’s base version is not as strong as the Agni Kai version, but he still packs a punch. He has the ability to inflict a good amount of damage, and to go along with that; he has decent buffing capabilities.

Sokka (Water Tribe)

CHARACTERSTIERELEMENTSKILLS
Sokka (Water Tribe)BNoneATK buffs, Normal attack

Element: None

Skill:

  • His advanced skill can deal damage with a chance of a critical hit. It also bounces to another target to deal extra damage, which can stun them and possibly put them out of commission.
  • His passive skill is also quite useful. He receives ATK buffs each time he reaches 75 percent, 50 percent, and 25 percent hit points.
  • The best skill Sokka possesses is his basic skill, which can deal damage to his opponent two times. Also, if the target has an active buff, the hit can remove it, and also gives him a chance to get an ATK buff.

Description:

  • This version of Sokka is not very useful as the game progresses. Especially since he does not have bending abilities, and his martial art and boomerang are his only assets. However, he can still be very useful in the beginning.
  • Overall, Sokka is a solid character at the beginning of the game, in fact, one of the most powerful. However, as the game progresses, he simply gets outclassed by the other characters.

C-Tier

The abysmal characters
C TIER

The C-Tier heroes are not powerful at all. They barely provide any real value to the team they are part of, and border on being a liability. Their skill set is usually not very useful, and their strength is subpar. These units belong to the bottom half of the Avatar Generations tier list.

Tyro

CHARACTERSTIERELEMENTSKILLS
TyroCEarthDefensive skills, Deal damage, Decrease enemies’ turn bar by 15 percent

Element: Earth

Skill:

  • He can decrease his enemies’ turn bar by a decent 15 percent.
  • It would also deal damage to all enemies, and the amount of damage inflicted would be directly proportional to the hit points Tyro has at that point.
  • The rest of his skills are of defensive nature, like protecting allies and gaining a buff every time a shielded ally takes damage.

Description:

  • Tyro is a heavy tanking unit.
  • His defensive abilities are above average, but his defensive capabilities are not valued game at the moment. But it would not be the worst idea in the world to have a tank as part of your team.
  • Tyro is relatively easy to counter, but he is not the worst character. He can add some amount of value if he is used effectively.

Admiral Zhao

CHARACTERSTIERELEMENTSKILLS
Admiral ZhaoCFireDeal fire debuffs, Reduce DEF by 25 percent

Element: Fire

Skill:

  • His greatest skill is his passive skill. With it, he can deal fire debuffs, which creates many negative effects.
  • The negative effects themselves are not bad, for example, one can have his enemy shave 10 percent of HP every turn, reduce DEF by 25 percent, and increase damage inflicted by a staggering 35 percent.

Description:

  • Admiral Zhao is a pretty straightforward character. He can get decent buffs if his attacks are used in a specified order and get additional turns.
  • The truth is Admiral Zhao will always be overshadowed by Zuko (Agni Kai). He is almost exactly like him, but worse. This reduces his viability, and due to his simplistic nature, he is not very hard to counter.

Zuko (Invader)

CHARACTERSTIERELEMENTSKILLS
Zuko (Invader)CFireIncreasing ATK by 300 percent

Element: Fire

Skill:

  • This version of Zuko can enter a charging state. He can deal unbelievable amounts of damage by increasing ATK by a whopping 300 percent. Although, this causes him to give up his current turn. This skill can flip the match on its back, as it deals match-defining amounts of damage.

Description:

  • Like every other Zuko version, this one is not very complicated. He can inflict decent damage while gaining buffs as well.
  • Zuko’s hugely reliant on his charging state, which makes him very vulnerable to everything else. Without it, he is useless. Hence he is placed in the C-Tier.

D-Tier

The worst characters in the game
D TIER

The following characters are by far the worst-performing characters in the Avatar Generations tier list. Their skills’ viability is close to zero. They are easy to counter, and if you are using one of them, your first priority would be to replace them as quickly as possible.

Toph (Blind Bandit)

CHARACTERSTIERELEMENTSKILLS
Toph (Blind Bandit)DEarthDelay opponent’s turn bar by 50 percent

Element: Earth

Skill:

  • Her strongest skill can delay her opponent’s turn bar by 50 percent. Yep, that’s it, nothing else. Bordering on pathetic, you should never even use this character in the first place.

Description:

  • Toph might just be the worst character in the game, at least right now.
  • She does not really have any value; with abysmal attacking powers, and almost no tanking capabilities, she is borderline useless.

Katara (Water Tribe)

CHARACTERSTIERELEMENTSKILLS
Katara (Water Tribe)DWaterFreeze opponent, Heal allies

Element: Water

Skill:

  • Her advanced skill puts her into a defensive taunt. This throws 25 percent of damage inflicted right back to the enemy and heals her own health by 15 percent.
  • Her passive skill heals the ally with the lowest ally, but only when she takes damage when she is in her previously mentioned defensive stance.
  • The only thing Katara has that might be considered viable is her basic attack, which features AoE. This allows her to freeze her opponent.

Description:

  • This version of Katara is more of a supporting character than her next version. And since support units are not viable in the current meta, a not-bad support unit, will not be very useful.
  • All in all, Katara’s base version is a lot weaker than her next version. Her skills are abysmal at best, and you should definitely look for better support units if you are in search of one, for example, Gyatso.

Changes Due To Updates

Last Update: Patch 1.13

Before taking our Tier lists into consideration, make sure to go through the latest buffs and nerfs that were applied to characters in the latest Avatar Generations patch update.

Character Tuning:

Zuko (Chaos):

  • Advanced Skill Change: The change was made to enhance Zuko’s utility and impact in battles. By removing defensive effects from the target, Zuko’s ability becomes more versatile in countering opponents’ strategies, especially those relying on defensive buffs.

Aang (Peace):

  • Pouncing Wave Change: Granting Skill Nullifier to Team Avatar allies adds strategic depth to Aang’s moveset. It empowers the team by preventing negative status effects, making Aang a more reliable support character.

Aang (Mind):

  • Advanced Skill SPD Scaling Increase: By enhancing the SPD scaling of Aang’s Advanced Skill when in Avatar State, the developers aimed to make his Avatar State form more impactful and rewarding, encouraging players to strategically trigger this powerful state.

Toph (Offense):

  • Basic Skill Change: Adding the ability to remove positive stances and states from enemies hit by Toph’s basic skill enhances her utility and disruption capabilities. This change makes her more effective at countering opponents who rely on positive effects.

Sokka (Wolf Cove):

  • Base SPD Increase: Boosting Sokka’s base SPD improves his turn speed, allowing him to act more frequently and potentially impact battles with his abilities more often.
  • Advanced Skill Changes: Increasing the Turn Bar amount and Damage multiplier of Sokka’s Advanced Skill enhances his overall effectiveness in battles, making him a more impactful and strategic choice.

Gyatso (Air Nomad):

CHARACTERSTIERELEMENTSKILLS
GyatsoAAirThrow opposing team in disarray, Remove defense buffs
  • Base SPD Increase: Enhancing Gyatso’s base SPD improves his agility and turn order, allowing him to act more frequently and making him more competitive in battles.
  • Advanced Skill Changes: Changing Gyatso’s Advanced Skill to deal 4 separate hits adds randomness and versatility to his attacks, making him potentially more disruptive in battles.

Pakku (Bending Master):

  • Combo Linker and Ender Changes: Increasing the chance to Freeze the target enemy when used as a Combo Linker or Ender makes Pakku’s abilities more reliable in applying crowd control effects, enhancing his utility in team compositions.

Kiwaq (Pirate Captain):

  • Advanced Skill Damage Multiplier Increase: By increasing the damage multiplier on Kiwaq’s advanced skill, the developers intended to make him a more potent damage-dealing character, making his attacks more impactful in battles.

Warden (Fire Nation):

  • Base Speed Decrease: Lowering Warden’s base speed aims to balance his overall performance and strategic impact in battles, preventing him from potentially dominating the turn order.
  • Mocking Stance Change: Reducing the Crit Damage Reduction from Mocking Stance makes it less overpowered and more balanced, ensuring a fairer playing field for both sides in battles.
