Tower of Fantasy has been released for a few days now, and it has given players enough time to properly test the game and figure out their honest opinions about it. The honest opinions include everything from gameplay to character customization to expiration and everything in between. Between the beta and global release, our Tower of Fantasy Launch Changes guide will showcase the major changes that were brought to the game upon release and how they might affect the overall gameplay experience for players!
Tower of Fantasy is a game with massive potential, and with the correct approach, it can become one of the biggest games in the industry. We will cover the major changes that were brought to the global launch. One thing to be kept in mind is that the game has been released on Chinese servers for several months, so it’s not like it is completely brand-new.
For that reason alone, the global launch was being judged even harsher, considering it needed to reach a global player base. It would be obliterated if it didn’t live up to the standard. Audio Language Issues
The voiceover was offered in English and Japanese when the game was released. While it may have been beneficial to release in multiple other languages, it was understandable to cater to the global player base which would speak the English Language.
One of the biggest issues players would face when they were in the global beta servers was that it would be insanely bugged whenever they would switch their audio languages, for example, changing from Japanese to English and starting a new mission.
The audio would be either really buggy, meaning that the audio would practically be indistinguishable, and words would merge to the point where players wouldn’t be able to enjoy the mission or the main quest they were enjoying.
Apart from that, the audio issues also include random cuts, meaning that the audio would cut out here and there, contributing to a major breaking of immersion. When it was reported, Hotta Studios promised to fix it upon launch.
And so did they, as it was fixed and addressed in the patch notes upon release, allowing players in Tower of Fantasy to breathe a huge sigh of relief.
The next *major* issue in Tower of Fantasy global launch that needed to be catered to were a few localization issues. Players playing in the beta testers and the close beta tests were sending back reports of noticing that there were massive text issues.
These text issues included being out of lines, such as during the main mission or story quest, the text would simply go out of line. It would become insanely bugged if two or more paragraphs were longer than the intended space created to fit the text.
Once the text would go out of frame, while it wasn’t a big deal for many players, it would completely break the immersion for others who wanted the text to stay within the lines and its intended spacings and requested Hotta Studios to look into the issues.
However, Hotta Studios were quick to respond, as, upon global release, they greatly improved upon the text being in line and ensured that all story quests, side quests, and main quests did not face any kind of text issues at all.
Another major issue players noticed in the Tower of Fantasy beta tests was translation issues. If there’s one thing that breaks the immersion, it’s a mistranslation and misspelled words while playing any kind of quests.
The mistranslation ranged from simple words being misspelled here and there from different languages to some complete paragraphs being mistranslated, which completely changed the meaning of the original paragraphs or quest lines.
If this major blunder had been carried over to the global launch, it would have been met with a major backlash that would have immediately cost Hotta a lot of negativity and hate from the western player base. We know the western player base can be passionate about bugs and mistranslations.
Luckily, Hotta responded to the requests of beta testers in time. They brought these Tower of Fantasy Launch Changes to fix translation issues and ensured that there wouldn’t be a single moment where players would feel like their language was being mistranslated.

Apart from fixing translation issues, there were other changes that players had been asking for since the beta days, and upon global release, the players worldwide needed to be catered to.
While the beta servers only featured English and one or two other languages in text form, the global release featured several other languages to cater to all players.
Six languages were featured upon release: German, Spanish, Portuguese, Indonesian, Thai, and French. These were added instantly before release, making the native player base much happier.
The text localizations made players feel more at ease and at home while venturing into a completely new game, especially for players who had never tried MMOs. It allowed for even more diversity in the player base.
For now, it feels like these six languages will be the only ones that will be available for now. However, there’s no telling that there might be further updates that might feature many other languages. This is so that players all around the world can enjoy their local language while playing Tower of Fantasy as well.
Activity Mission Requirements
One of the main issues the players continued to face throughout the beta testing days was that the activity missions they were taking part in were way too difficult for their current levels. They required characters that needed to be stronger but weren’t.
While the activity missions were one thing, the Joint Operations, and Ruin levels were also way too difficult to start with, and it caused many players to be too underleveled and end up dying. While they were exploring the dungeons, trying to get chests or fighting enemies, they were too weak to face them due to their current levels.
Upon sending back requests, Hotta Studios ensured the players that their requests would be answered and that they would not face the same issues once the game was out for global release.
The level requirement was lowered for several Ruins and Joint Operations, which allowed lower-level players to also take part in fighting the mobs in the dungeons. It further allowed them to get the gear they needed to actually upgrade, level up, and then take on tougher mobs. Alongside the level requirements, there is another thing known as CS in Tower of Fantasy, which is crucial as well. Apart from the level, the CS will also display how strong the player actually is, and based on that, the higher the CS, the stronger the player will be in-game.
One main issue that players were complaining about was regard to the CS level that was required to gain access to Joint Operations as well as Frontier Clashes. If you weren’t aware already, the original CS requirement in beta servers was way too high and unbeatable to get in.
For that reason alone, beta testers were quick on their feet to send back their complaints and reports to Hotta Studios. The main issue that the high CS requirement would cause would be that players who wanted to level up fast would be time-gated, and it would also cause players to be strong, which would be nearly impossible at a low level.
Therefore, for newer players upon global release, the CS requirement was lowered by quite a bit, allowing for easy entrance into the Joint Operations as well as Frontier Clash and allowing players to enjoy content more often.
Emotes and Emoticons Addition
The next major upgrade Hotta Studios brought for Tower of Fantasy players when they released the game globally included emotes and emoticons.
Considering Tower of Fantasy is supposed to be an MMORPG, players must communicate with each other. In a day and age where emotes and emoticons play a major role in basic conversations, a game without emotes is not going to be as successful.
Therefore, adding loads of emotes that display meaning and showcased emotions only makes sense. For example, if your party lost a battle that you worked hard for in a Joint Operation, the appropriate reaction could be displayed using a sad emote.
The emotes included favorite characters such as Nemesis, King, Cobalt-B, Cocoritter, and many others, making the gameplay and conversations even more immersive and feel interesting to take part in.
Considering emoticons and emotes play a huge role in allowing players to converse with each other, the addition of hundreds of emotes allows players to get various emotes to choose from, and it allows them to communicate with their friends or with players around the world.
Alongside being able to personalize and create your very own character from scratch, there were two major concerns of players taking part in the beta tests, which included more body inclusivity and customizations such as hairstyles and outfit choices.
While there are five “preset” outfits to choose from, players can also import outfits from popular skins that players have spent hours upon hours customizing, and a “character ID protects it.” after the ID has been entered, players will be able actually to roam around as that character and explore the world.
As for the body type and body shape issues, it was also fixed upon global release. In CBT1, the chest and hip slider were removed, which was met with a major backlash. Therefore, it was added back in CBT2 to make the fans happier who wanted more inclusivity.
As of the global launch, there is no censorship for hip, chest, or body height sliders, and there is a lot more customization that players can do, especially those players who want to create a copy of themselves as their Tower of Fantasy main character.

Moving on, let’s look at a few character Tower of Fantasy Launch Changes that were offered for players.
The first character we would like to feature will be Claudia, who was released upon global release. The main change that was brought to Claudia’s character was that she received increased physical resonance. Let’s take a moment to compare the changes between the CN beta tests and the global release.
In the CN beta servers, Claudia had a skill known as Grievous, which essentially granted her the ability to use her fully-charged weapon attack to inflict damage equivalent to 137% of her base attack. It would also make the enemy in front of her grievous for a total of 7 seconds, and they would start to take in 20% increased overall damage.
When the global game was released, she was given physical resonance. It operated by increasing her physical attack by 15%, while a total of 25% also increased her physical resistance.
It was activated simply by having two or more physical weapons in the player’s arsenal, and it would grant a bonus buff, making the player even stronger in combat. You might find our Tower of Fantasy Best Teams guide helpful!
Next up, we have Cobalt B, and the main change that she received was that she ended up having her overall flame resonance increased when the game finally opened up its servers to players globally.
In the Chinese beta servers, her skill known as Flame would allow her fully charged weapon to set any opponent close to her on fire for a total of 8 seconds. It would also cause the opponent who had been set on fire to take in a total of 58.00% damage based on her base attack, and they would continue to get 50% efficacy from any kind of healing they receive.
As for the global release, her flame resonance was increased. That’s a given. However, her flame attack was increased by 15%, which also allied her flame resistance to increase by 25%.
Once again, the way that the flame buff would be activated would only be viable after the player equipped two or more flame weapons, after which they would consistently continue to have the flame buff active. The second that one of the two flame weapons is removed from the player’s arsenal, the buff is instantly removed.
As for Tsubasa, unfortunately, it appears like she was on the unlucky end of buffs, considering she ended up getting nerfed upon release. While other characters got stuff like flame resonance and physical resonance, Tsubasa became weaker, but it doesn’t matter, considering she is still pretty overpowered.
While still under beta tests, Tsubasa could get a stack of Sharp Arros every time Tsubasa unleashed an arrow shot after doing a perfect dodge, and it would end up hitting the opponent it was targetted towards. Every time she gained the stack, it would increase her damage by 8% for 15 seconds.
However, it seems like once the game was officially released, while she continued to gain the Sharp Arrow stacks, the actual damage buff she was supposed to receive was nerfed. While the nerf was not severe, it inevitably meant that her overall damage output was slightly reduced.

The next character that we would like to talk about is Zero, and he also was one of the few characters that got nerfed upon receiving Tower of Fantasy Launch Changes. Essentially, his healing duration was reduced by a couple of seconds, making him a lot weaker in gameplay.
In the Chinese beta servers, whenever zero damaged an opponent, he was also going to release a “damage orb,” which would last for 20 seconds and enhance the attack of any ally that picked up the damaged orb. The attack would increase by 2% and be active for 45 seconds.
Now, when the game was globally opened to the public, players quickly noticed the changes that zero brought to the table, mainly in the damaged orb he produced upon inflicting damage upon foes in front of him.
While the duration of the damaged orb being on-field was still 20 seconds, any player that picked it up also received an attack buff by 2%. The nerf was, however, placed in the total attack buff duration, which was reduced from 45 seconds to only 30 seconds, which seems a bit on the lower end.
Moving on, Coco Ritter mains can rejoice, considering she actually ended up getting buffed. Her attack buff would covert to all damage and healing that would greatly benefit her and her allies in tough combat.
Before global release, anytime a healing bee is summoned, it will heal players 100% of their base attack. Alongside that, any players that are present within a 10-meter radius of the healing bee will also gain a 15% base attack increase, allowing them to obliterate enemies in front of them.
Now, when the game was released, the same healing bee could be summoned, and it would work the same way to regenerate HP for players based on 100% of their base attack, and the overall radius of the healing bee where the buff would be applied was kept the same as well.
The main change was brought to the 15% attack buff that was originally granted to players, and it was basically changed to a 15% all damage and healing increase, allowing players to survive for longer as well as be able to take advantage of the attack increase. Last but not least, we have Nemesis in Tower of Fantasy, who seems like a pretty strong unit. However, it appears that she ended up getting the biggest nerfs since the game was in the works for a few months before the official launch. She received one of the biggest damage nerfs, making her even weaker once released.
Before being revealed to the public, every 6 seconds, the electrode that was within Nemesis’ weapon was able to unleash ring lightning, which would deal damage that was equivalent to a total of 389% of the player’s base attack.
Now, the main nerf was brought to the global launch of the game, where players were quick on their feet to take note of the fact that the ring lightning that Nemesis was unleashing was not dealing the 389% damage that was promised.
Instead of the usual 389% base attack damage that was supposed to be delivered from her ring lightning, it was unleashing only 205% of the player’s base attack, which is a massive amount of nerfing to the overall damage output. With that, we will wrap up our Tower of Fantasy Launch Changes guide!
