Wild Hearts All Weapons & How To Unlock

Lets check out which weapons you can use to Hunt down Kemonos.

For the lovers of Monster Hunters, Wild Hearts is the perfect gift. The mechanics are quite similar to Monsters Hunters as you get to chase after monsters or Kemono in this case. You get a total of eight weapons that you can use to hunt. But you will only have access to one of those. You can unlock the rest of the weapons as you make progress in Wild Hearts.

Key Takeaways
  • There are a total of Eight weapons in Wild Hearts.
  • These are Karakuri Katana, Nodachi, Bow, Maul, Bladed Wagasa, Hand Cannon, Claw Blade, and Karakuri Staff.
  • To craft each of the weapons, you will need 1x Corestone and 100x Gold.
  • Karakuri Katana is available from the start of the game.
  • As for Nodachi, Bow, Maul, and Bladed Wagasa, they become available after you have saved Natsume.
  • Hand Cannon, Claw Blade, and Karakuri Staff are available to craft when you save the Minato Village from Earthshaker.
IMPORTANT: All of the weapons are unique so make sure you check out all weapons to check which one suits your playstyle.

How To Unlock All Weapons

In Wild Hearts, you start with the Karakuri Katana unlocked. And with it, you get to complete the tutorial. Once the Tutorial or the Prologue of the game is complete, you can get access to four more weapons in the game. These weapons are:

  • Bladed Wagasa
  • Bow
  • Maul
  • Nodachi

You can craft any of these weapons once you have progressed through the game. There will come a point where you have to defeat Ragetail who is attacking the camp. Once you have defeated it, you will get to meet with Natsume. When you go to the Giant Tree Trunk Camp, Natsume will come with you and there you will make the Field Forge. That Field Forge is where you will first craft the four other weapons.

You can get any of the above-mentioned weapons from Natsume. Once you have acquired these weapons, you’ll note that each of these weapons has an upgrade tree that will make the weapon much more powerful. If you collect the required materials and upgrade them, they can later on become quite deadly.

Unlocking Other Weapons

Now you will note that when you get to new weapons, three other entries have question marks on their names. Nothing is visible on them. You can’t see their stats or images. These are the weapons that you will unlock later on in Wild Hearts as you make progress.

You won’t get to unlock these weapons until you’ve reached Minato Village. From there on, you will have to complete a few other quests. Later on, you will have to defeat the Earthshaker. Only after defeating the Earthshaker will, you get access to the rest of the weapons. Now defeating Earthshaker is a hard fight but during the first part of the fight, you will get to use the Hand Cannon.

Once the Earthshaker is defeated, there will be a festival in the Minato Village. After that festival, if you visit Natsume, she will then make all of the weapons for you. That is how you can unlock all weapons in Wild Hearts. These weapons are:

  • Hand Cannon
  • Claw Blade
  • Karakuri Staff

Which Weapon To Use

All of the weapons in Wild Hearts are designed to be useful in all scenarios. They all are different from one another in attack pattern and all. Yes, one weapon might deal more damage than another, but you have to consider the fact that it will have a slower attack speed than the other. Due to that, all weapons are perfect and that leaves it to the player’s personal preference.

The starting weapon in Wild Hearts is the Karakuri Katana. It is a balanced option among all of the weapons. It can perform quick attacks in a short span of time. These attacks deal lower damage, but your enemies will be down in no time.

And if you were to use the Karakuri then you can have powerful hits. With each hit, you’ll be dealing massive damage. You can fill up its Karakuri energy by using basic attacks. Once filled, the blade will then take a new form. It will now have a wider range and will have more hits per swing.

Nodachi

Nodachi is a Broadsword and each of its swings has massive damage. But these hits are too slow for most players’ taste. And chances are, swift enemies, will land a few hits on you before you do. So you should be performing calculated attacks on the enemies to make sure that you get a hit on them before they move away.

Filling its energy will take some time. As you’ll be performing slow hits, you will have to be patient with it. Once Karakuri energy is enhanced, the Nodachi will have a range and damage increase. You perform powerful slashes that will deal massive damage to the enemies.

Bow

With the Bow, you have the ability to build up damage that you can deal to your opponents. That is thanks to its two different types of fire mods. When using horizontally, you will be firing bursts of weaker arrows onto the enemies. Whereas in the Vertical mode, you’ll fire a single explosive shot at the enemies.

We’ve talked about building up damage. That is because, with the basic attacks, you will be plunging the enemies with smaller arrows. Once you have enough arrows on them, use the vertical arrow to explode all of the smaller arrows. That would have you deal massive damage in mere seconds if you built up correctly.

Now as it is a ranged weapon, you should be careful with your hits. The enemies will always get near you and you have to make sure that you’re aiming toward them all the time for the arrows to land. It all becomes easier once you get the hang of it.

Maul

Difficulty Damage Range Attack Speed Mobility
High High Close-Mid Low Low

The Maul can be considered the slowest weapon in Wild Hearts. But as it weighs the most out of all, it will deal the highest damage with each hit. But then again, you can consider it one of the hardest weapons to master in Wild Hearts. That is because you will have to time your attacks to ensure that you hit the enemies.

With each hit, you will get a small flash. That is the indication of when you should press the special button. When you place the special button, it will continue the combo and make another hit. At that time there will be another flash when you should press the button. That will result in a powerful slam. Now the catch is that obviously, the Maul is a slow weapon. Enemies can get away from you while you’re building up your combo. That is why you should ensure that the Kemono can’t get away.

Bladed Wagasa

Difficulty Damage Range Attack Speed Mobility
Medium Medium Close Medium Medium

Bladed Wagasa is an umbrella that has blades on it. Well, all of the weapons in the game are unique. But it is one step ahead as you can use it to parry enemies. That will in turn build up its charge. The charge has three levels. The Blue, Yellow, and Red charge levels. With the increase in charge, the overall damage of the Wagasa increases.

Be sure to keep parrying as it will make the weapon deadlier with each parry. Even then, it isn’t that good of a weapon because the damage output is lower compared to all weapons. Yes, you can use it to fly around your enemies, but there are better options available.

Hand Cannon

Difficulty Damage Range Attack Speed Mobility
High Medium Mid-Far Medium Low

Another Range weapon on the list is the Hand Cannon. It is a heavy weapon and compared to the Bow, it deals higher damage. But like all other weapons, the high damage comes at the cost of lost mobility. Don’t get misguided by the name Hand Cannon, it is heavy.

But that is not all, with each hit, you will be consuming your gauge. That means you will have to take a break for the gauge to refill again. There is another gauge on top of it that fills with each hit. That is the overheating gauge. Once the Cannon overheat, there will be a cooling-down animation. At that time you will be vulnerable, so you will have to save yourself from the Kemono attacks.

You can plant a Ki Base on the spot to ensure that you won’t run out of gauge and can fire indefinitely as long as the base lasts. But that limits you to that spot and enemies can hit you. Anyways, when the upper gauge is filled, you can fire two types of attacks. One is a Mortar type of attack, whereas the other is a Laser Beam fired from the Hand Cannon. Both of these can deal massive damage.

Claw Blade

Difficulty Damage Range Attack Speed Mobility

Want to make it a challenge for the Kemono to attack you? Then the Claw Blade is the one for you. The whole idea of the Claw Blade is designed for the fact that you won’t stop. You can keep on slashing and dashing the Kemono. But that is not all, you can go all Attack on Titans mode by swinging all around the Kemonos by using your hook onto them.

Although you will deal relatively lower damage with each of your hits, the movement and other benefits you get from it outweigh other weapons’ benefits. You will be flying around and targeting the weak points of the enemies quite easily. Compared to other weapons, you will get to hit them quite easily.

Karakuri Staff

Lastly, I have the powerful Karakuri Staff. It is arguably the best weapon in all of Wild Hearts that you can unlock. With the Karakuri Staff, you are getting a bunch of weapons. In total, there are four different weapons that you can convert into.

First off, you have the Staff that has the usual Staff-based attacks. It can be then transformed into Dual wielding knives that have swift attacks. And if you transform from that, you will have a gigantic Shuriken that you can fire off in a distance like a ranged weapon. In addition to that, you can use the Shuriken as a close-range melee weapon toon. And lastly, it converts into a spear with a blade at its top.

Lastly, there is Ultimate transformation. To get the transmission, you will have to fill up the weapon’s gauge. While you’re using the special attack of any of the weapons, you will see a glow. When that glow happens, if you use the transformation button, that will fill up the gauge.

Final Words

Wild Hearts finally got released and it has everything that players wanted. The game is similar to Monster Hunters and that is perfect for the players. There are tons of Trophies and Achievements in the game that you can get. As they will help you towards 100% completion. The Game Lengthy is moderate so you will be done with it in no time. lastly, you should check out our Review of Wild Hearts before you decide if you want it or not.
