Being a budget-oriented board, the X570 Plus does not have a crazy amount of RGB. There are few RGB LED strips located at the bottom of the board and around the heatsink. The stock RGB lighting is controlled via the Asus Aura Sync software. All in all, the design is pretty minimalistic, and we’ve seen better on other motherboards of its league.
Under the hood, the TUF Gaming X570 Plus hosts a 12+2 VRM powered by a 4+2 phase controller. The cooling rituals are done by fairly decent-sized heatsinks connected by a metal heatpipe that runs along the motherboard. Looks-wise, the B550m Aorus Pro has an all black PCB with dark gray finishing on the heatsink and I/O cover. It can fit well into any neutral-themed build, especially an all-black build. The only lighting on this board is a thin strip on the bottom left, just above the audio capacitors. The strip is not RGB and just lights up in orange. However, you can link up any external RGB components to the motherboard and control them via the RGB Fusion 2.0 software. On the chipset heatsink is the classic Aorus emblem.
The board packs a 13-phase VRM design for power delivery in a 10+3 configuration. Phase doublers are used to reach the 13 phase count. Covering the VRMs are two massive heatsinks with a brushed aluminum finish. The heatsinks are large enough for a micro-atx board but it lacks a heatpipe which hinders heat dissipation to an extent. The VRMs tend to run hot when overclocking a high-end chip like the 5950x but, for a 3700x, it is more than capable. There are no aRGB headers, which makes the overall appearance look quite bland. The RGB lighting can be configured through MSI’s Mystic Light toolbox.
The B450 Tomahawk Max is powered by a 4+2 phase VRM setup. A major upgrade from its predecessor, the B350 Tomahawk, is the improved heatsink design.
