Harvest Moon: Light of Hope Special Edition released for PS4 & Switch

Farmville fans, from back before the 2010s, would love to know that global videogame publisher Rising Star Games, in partnership with Natsume Inc., a worldwide developer and publisher of family-oriented video games, today releases Harvest Moon: Light of Hope Special Edition on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 across Europe and beyond. The trailer for the game can be seen below

The game is a family-friendly title. It is the latest rendition to the Harvest Moon series of games, making it the 20th-anniversary edition of the family. The game first released in North America in 1997, and has continued to see a steady rise of popularity and players, making it one of today’s most beloved franchises. The game involves the player into farming activities, very much like those in Farmville but not focused around the concept of sharing and socialising in the game.

The story of the game goes such that your character has gone through a storm which lands you into a small harbour, now in shambles from the storm, where a young doctor named Jeanne saves your life. The town has been deserted, but you’re never one to back down from a challenge. Nevertheless, with some hard work growing crops, tending livestock, and gathering materials for repairs, you will be able to make new friends, start a family, revive the lighthouse, and save the town, your new home.

Appearing for the first time in a Harvest Moon game is two-player cooperative gameplay via Soleil, the gem sprite, who can be controlled by a secondary player for cooperative farming and adventuring.

  • Collect important materials to rebuild the town and restore the lighthouse!
  • Complete requests from villagers to unlock new areas and items!
  • Grow crops, tend livestock, and gathering materials, either by yourself or with a Co-Op friend!
  • New and unique festivals, including the Dog Racing Festival!
  • Make new friends, get married, and start a family from a variety of bachelors and bachelorettes, including a secret one!

The game offers a 2D-like side view experience, similar to, again, Farmville. Not a very graphic intensive title, that is for sure. The game is currently available on the PS4 and Nintendo Switch as a special edition for $49.99. It comes in a season pass that runs you another $9.99. As of now, only DLCs are available while another two named Divine Marriageable Characters Pack and Doc’s & Melanie’s Special Episodes will be available soon be available as well.
