The sequel to the original Destiny, Destiny 2 was released back in the September of 2017. Since its release almost a year ago, the title has been the recipient of many great reviews (8/10 on Digital Trends). Although a step forward in many ways from its predecessor, it lacked certain features that were fan favourites. With the new patch 1.2.3 coming this July 17th, a lot may change though.
With this patch, it is a precursor for the upcoming DLC titled Forsaken, players would welcome a feature that they had long said goodbye to, in the transition from Destiny to Destiny 2. This feature is the Bounty system. Although it was replaced earlier with the Milestone system, the feel of the Bounty feature had led players to receive this rather underwhelming experience with a bitter taste. With Patch 1.2.3, the Bounty system makes a return to the franchise, much like the return of the prodigal son, it too will revolutionise the game and the experience of it all.
To explain further, the bounty system was a way of giving a count of daily objectives that were completed by players in order to gain XP points and eventually use them to upgrade their character’s gear. According to their lead designer, this was felt as a fatigue for some users, tasks that held them back from their main goal and so these side “chores” were decided to be removed in order to maintain a more streamlined and less deviated gameplay. They later learnt that it was a feature actually loved and enjoyed by the masses and so they decided to bring it back.
There is still more though. Not only will this patch bring back the bounties, but the rewards that come bundled with it are said to be increased in value tenfolds. These would allow the users to get Legendary or even more valuable rewards. More detail to the bounty system and its implementation has also been carefully tweaked in order to give a whole new perspective to the nostalgic experience.
