Diablo Immortal Released In China; Gets #1 On iOS Charts On First Day

After a month-long delay, Diablo Immortal has finally been released in China.

Almost no one in the player community likes microtransactions, and the mechanic gets a lot of criticism. However, gaming companies are still heavily using loot boxes in most of their titles. This practice has increased so much that governments of countries are now intervening to control it.

Probably the most popular example of greedy microtransactions right now is Diablo Immortal. Everyone, from players and critics, has panned the game for its excessive use of loot boxes. In the game, you need to spend money to upgrade your character fully or just do it by playing for nearly a decade.

Some estimations from players have said that it can take up to $100,000 to upgrade your character completely. However, even with the negative press, Diablo Immortal has been racking up player numbers and making money. Its release in China further proves that the game is doing really well.

Diablo Immortal has finally launched in China after a delay and is already #1 on the iOS vide game download charts in the country. According to an accredited industry analyst, the game had almost 15 million pre-registrations helping it reach this landmark on the first day of release. Hence, the game has had a fantastic start in one of its most important markets.

Blizzard Entertainment is a respectable name in China and has always been successful in the region. Diablo III was the fastest-selling premium game of all time at the time of its release. So, it’s not surprising to see Diablo Immortal perform well despite all the criticism for loot boxes.

However, even with such a huge release, the release of the title has not been as good as other games. One of the reasons for this is the very weird delay in release, which was going to take place last month, so the 25th July release date for Diablo Immortal has taken players by surprise.

The game is currently #50 on the list of most popular games in China right now. Hence, the game hasn’t had that bad of a start in the region and will improve even more. More players will certainly download the game in the upcoming days now that it has finally come out. However, even if it doesn’t improve these numbers a lot, Diablo Immortal will still make a lot of money.
