Like a Dragon: Ishin! Has Repurchasable DLC That Won’t Carry Over To Other Saves
Questionable microtransactions strike again.

Story Highlights
- The consumable items present in the digital deluxe edition of Like A Dragon: Ishin! can not be redeemed on new save files after they have been redeemed on the original playthrough.
- The upgrade consumables are available for purchase as microtransactions. This has sparked a debate within the community.
Like A Dragon: Ishin! saw its global launch on February 21st, 2023 as a remake of the 2014 title. Critic reception has generally been positive and players are enjoying the game as well. However, one element of this title is currently a hot topic within the community—the DLC.
The deluxe edition of Like A Dragon: Ishin! provided certain beneficial consumables to the player. These items served as an initial boost you could collect from an in-game NPC. Previously, such items were free and not restricted to a single save file. However, it seems this is no longer the case with this game.
Like A Dragon: Ishin! Has A DLC Problem
Players who pre-ordered the deluxe edition got a headstart. Upon beating the game or starting a new save, players realized that these upgrade materials were no longer available. One player by the name of Zirael reached out to SEGA Support in regard to the issue.
The DLCs can only be claimed once btw, so if you decided to play with a clean save, you need to buy them again. from yakuzagames
The conversation with the representative quickly spread across the internet. It stated that these consumable items could be purchased multiple times. Furthermore, these items could not be reapplied or transferred to another console or save data once they had been used.
The problem here is that these consumables are present in the game and the player is able to obtain them. Like A Dragon: Ishin! however, doesn’t allow these items to be reobtained on a new save file.
These consumable items were provided to the players who purchased the deluxe edition. It’s only natural to be able to obtain them for the first time on every save. The lack of this element is causing an uproar in the community which is further exacerbated by them being available as pointless microtransactions.
While the items don’t inherently impact the game as a whole, the problem here is that most DLC content should be available to the player permanently if they have paid for it. In this case, the items from the deluxe edition should be redeemable on every save.
At the moment, there’s been no comment from SEGA regarding the situation. Therefore, it would be best to avoid starting a new save at this time if these DLC items matter to you.
Like A Dragon: Ishin! is out now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC, and last-gen consoles. You can read our review of it here.
