Starfield And Redfall Officially Delayed To 2023

The two giant Xbox exclusives have been unfortunately delayed.

Throughout its development, Bethesda’s critically anticipated games, Starfield and Redfall, have been eyed intensively by gamers. Both titles were planned for a 2022 release and are Xbox exclusives. Starfield was initially set to release on November 11th, 2022, a tribute to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s release date. Bethesda had kept both titles wrapped in mystery so not a lot has been revealed about them. Even though the news is saddening, Starfield and Redfall will benefit from extra development time, and both Xbox exclusives can be wholly imagined without the constraint of approaching release.

Bethesda on Twitter iterated, “We’ve decided to delay the launches of Redfall and Starfield to the first half of 2023.” Bethesda continued, “The teams at Arkane Austin (Redfall) and Bethesda Game Studios (Starfield) have incredible ambitions for their games, and we want to ensure that you receive the best, most polished versions of them.”

“We want to thank everyone for their excitement for Redfall and Starfield. That energy is a massive part of what inspires all of us every day and drives our own excitement for what we are creating,” the announcement mentioned. “We can wait to share our first deep dive into the gameplay for both Redfall and Starfield soon. Thank you for your support.”

Starfield was initially announced in 2018; during the olden days of Microsoft‘s acquisition of Bethesda, Starfield was portrayed as a “next-generation” RPG set in space and Bethesda Game Studios’ first new IP in years. Starfield had been set to anchor on 11th November – 11/11/22 – and was arranged as a prominent game for both Bethesda and Xbox this snowy season. Like all first-part Xbox and Bethesda games, it will arrive directly into the Xbox Game Pass.

Similarly, the much-anticipated Redfall from Dishonored studio, Arkane, has also been seemingly delayed to the first half of 2023. The vampire-slaying first-person co-op shooter needs extra time to be polished to perfection. Redfall features four unique survivors with both single-player and co-operative multiplayer modes. The game has retained its secrecy throughout development in the usual Bethesda fashion.

Both giant titles will probably be unveiled in Bethesda’s upcoming games showcase on June 12th, so this early announcement is assumably implied to set expectations ahead of time. Only a few AAA games have evaded significant delays during the pandemic because the production and collaboration have become less efficient when working from home instead of an office. Moreover, due to things barely getting back to normal, delays are to be expected this year as well.
