Nintendo Switch Exclusive: Octopath Traveler launching Today

An addition to the Switch library, giving it an identity with exclusives, Octopath Traveler is welcomed on the Switch today as Nintendo made it available both for digital download and retail. To get an overview of the title, this trailer can be seen below

Set out on a grand adventure as one of eight protagonists, each with their own origin, talents, and goals. Where will your journey begin? Who will you team up with? And where will you go next? All these decisions and more are completely up to the player in Octopath Traveler. In Octopath Traveler, players will meet eight unique travellers each with their own personal story to discover. By using the characters’ special abilities, known as Path Actions, players can interact with the vast world and employ advanced tactics using the Boost system in engaging turn-based battles.

  • A New World: Discover stunning “HD-2D” visuals, a gripping combat system that breaks the conventions of turn-based battles, and deep individual storylines that will chart your course across the vast and wondrous continent of Orsterra.
  • An Adventure all on your own: Begin your journey as one of eight travelers, each with their own origin, talents and goals. Where will your tale begin? Who will you team up with? And where will you go next? Go it alone, or delve into each of the seven other travelers’ independent stories as you journey onwards.
  • Traveler Traits: Each hero brings a different tale to be told, new perspectives on the game’s turn-based combat, and special abilities to use out in the field. Experiment with these unique skills to fell foes, complete side quests, and influence the world around you.
  • The thrill of battle: Put your party’s skills to the test with an accessible yet deep combat system. Draw upon each traveler’s Talents to gain an edge in battle, then break through enemy lines using the unique Boost system. Up to four of your travelers can fight side-by-side in your party, so expect some intense fights ahead!

The game is available for download today from the official Nintendo online store, the eShop. It can be picked up as a physical copy as well from retailers for $59.99 (both for retail and digital versions). A demo is also available if players want to check out the game before diving into the purchase.
