Fishing in Stardew Valley is yet another of the multitude of ways through which the player can earn money for themselves. It is also one of the best ways to get ingredients for crafting Health and Energy recovering consumables.
But fishing can be a bit tricky, primarily because the mini-game involving it can be a bit tough to master for newer players. Then there’s also the matter of locating the numerous different species of fish scattered around the map. A number of these are required to complete Community Centre bundles, which are essential to progressing the game’s plot.
So with this Stardew Valley Sturgeon guide, we’ll help players catch one of the more elusive varieties of fish in Pelican Town.
Stardew Valley Sturgeon Guide
There isn’t anything particularly unique that you can make with the Stardew Valley Sturgeon, but the fish is needed to complete the Lake Fish Bundle. This is composed of the following items:
- Largemouth Bass.
Out of all of these fish, the Sturgeon is the hardest to catch due to its specific requirements.
How To Catch A Sturgeon
To begin with, you need to make sure that the season is either Summer or Winter. Sturgeon is not available in the Fall or Spring. The Stardew Valley Sturgeon is also much more common on rainy Summer days, than on any regular day.

Players can wait until the weather changes, but this would simply waste a lot of time. A more reliable method of getting rain is to use a Rain Totem. This is a consumable item that greatly increases the chance of rain on the next day. It requires the following ingredients:
- 1x Hardwood.
- 1x Truffle Oil.
- 5x Pine Tar.
Once the weather has changed, head on over to the Mountain Lake near the Mines and the Quarry. This is the only body of water that spawns Stardew Valley Sturgeon. Now between the hours of 6 am to 7 pm, there is an 11% to 16% chance that all items caught within the lake will be Sturgeons.
