Yakuza series has had its fair share of popularity and people want it to come to the Nintendo Switch. According to the producer of the game series, it is highly unlikely. Daisuke Sato talked about whether or not the series will be coming to the Nintendo Switch and the following is what he had to say in this regard:
To be realistic towards what happened, Yakuza 1 & 2 for Wii U was a significant failure. But our goal is still to develop cross-platform as much as possible, and we know that it brings an extra audience, that it allows us to attract more people. That being said, when it comes to Switch, I am convinced that it would not be the ideal platform on which to develop Yakuza games. Maybe the public is not expecting that kind of game on Switch. They may be used to different games. It may not be the ideal platform. Regarding Xbox One, we could consider it, knowing that Xbox One users might be more likely to be interested in a game like Yakuza. That could be an option.
For now, Yakuza series has been limited to PC and PS4. While there have been reports that the games could be coming to Xbox as well but we are not sure regarding the matter and the two platforms seem to be the current focus of the franchise. While there is still hope that the games could make it to the handheld console someday, it has not been completely denied but looking at the history that the series has had with Nintendo, it does seem highly unlikely.
Yakuza Kiwami 2 hits the PlayStation 4 on August 28, so are a couple of things going on when it comes to the series but not on the Nintendo side of things. Panic Button is bringing Warframe to the Switch, so that is something to look forward to. Other developers are also bringing their games to the Nintendo Switch and you can expect a wide range of games to be released before the year comes to an end.
