Story Highlights
- Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition is the next-gen physical release of Cyberpunk.
- According to CD Projekt Red, PS5 players will have to download Phantom Liberty separately.
- The Xbox version of the release will include Phantom Liberty on the disc.
CD Projekt Red has finally unveiled the physical edition of Cyberpunk 2077 in the form of the Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition. This release includes the latest version 2.0 of Cyberpunk 2077 alongside all DLC including the recently released Phantom Liberty expansion pack. However, PlayStation 5 players might be disappointed to learn that Phantom Liberty will not be included in the disc but in a separate download code for the PS5.
The Xbox version, on the other hand, will include both the base game and Phantom Liberty on the disc. This was confirmed by CD Projekt Red’s Community Director Marcin Momot via Twitter. Players are understandably upset and have not hesitated to express their concerns on the matter.
Extremely disappointing and a no buy from me then. I expected better from you guys!

The disappointment makes even more sense when you consider that this is the first time Cyberpunk 2077 has received a next-gen physical version. Moreover, this is advertised as the “ultimate” version of the game which is supposed to include all the content. As for why that is the case in the first place, it is assumed that this is because Sony requires developers to make a new SKU for on-disc DLC.
It is no surprise to say that Cyberpunk has had a rocky journey on its way to redeem its image in the eyes of the gaming community. Coming so far, however, the ultimate edition seems like a way for CDPR themselves to also celebrate their progress as well as their redemption over the last 3 years. As a Cyberpunk fan since launch, however, it makes me happy to see people appreciating the things I loved when I first played Cyberpunk 2077.
So this decision ultimately feels a little out-of-touch when considering what this release represents, especially for a major part of the fanbase. It’s an ongoing trend with recent physical releases not including the actual game or content on the disc. Recently, it was discovered that the physical Switch version of the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection did not include the majority of the games and instead opted for a download code for MGS 1,2 and 3.
Nevertheless, if you’re considering getting the Ultimate Edition (which you very well should because Cyberpunk is an incredible game), then maybe consider checking out our guide on the best Legendary weapon locations in Cyberpunk 2077. eXputer rated Phantom Liberty — its latest expansion — 4.5/5, saying that CDPR has finally delivered with its project.
