Melty Blood: Type Lumina Gets Discounted Following 400,000 Sales

Grab the game for 40% off until April 6 to 9, depending on your platform.

Story Highlights

  • Melty Blood: Type Lumina is a 2D visual novel fighting game that initially came out on Sep 29, 2021. It’s been developed by French-Bread and is a part of the mainline Melty Blood franchise, being the fifth iteration in the series.
  • In recent times, the game crossed over 400,000 cumulative sales relating to both physical and digital units. In September last year, the game was reported to have sold 330,000 units worldwide.
  • Commemorating the upcoming EVO Japan 2023 event, admittedly the world’s largest fighting game tournament, the developers have slapped on a 40% discount on Melty Blood: Type Lumina on all the platforms it’s available on.
  • The sale is available to avail of on Steam until April 9 and until April 6 on the Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

Melty Blood: Type Lumina has achieved a resounding milestone lately, selling more than 400,000 units digitally and physically (thanks 4gamer). The developers have further announced that in honor of the upcoming EVO Japan 2023, Type Lumina has been discounted by 40% off its original MSRP, so it’s now possible to grab the base title for as low as $9.59 on Steam. Beware, though, since the sale will run until April 9, 3:00 JST, for PC players.

There’s also the inclusion of Xbox and Nintendo Switch platforms for the discounted deal, but promotions for these systems will run until April 6, three days less than the sale’s PC counterpart. In addition to the base game, you’ll find the Melty Blood: Type Lumina’s Deluxe Edition currently going for $13.79, which is fairly low as opposed to the original $22.99 price point.

However, that particular pricing is for the game’s Steam version. The rates are different for Nintendo Switch, specifically $29.99 on the Nintendo Store. Furthermore, the Xbox variant has listed the 2D fighter for $29.99 on the Xbox Store, plus taxes.

Late last year, Melty Blood: Type Lumina introduced two new DLC characters from Fate/Grand Order, a free-to-play mobile gacha game based on the Type-Moon Fate/stay night series of visual novel titles. To date, over 20 different characters have been made playable in Type Lumina, with all of them offering their own unique combos, special attacks, and other abilities.

Melty Blood: Type Lumina was released on September 30, 2021, for PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One. The game revolves around 2D fighting and features a gameplay system that has carried over from the previous Melty Blood renditions, such as Actress Again: Current Code, Actress Again, and Act Cadenza, although things were fairly dated with the latter.
