Banishers: Ghosts Of New Eden’s New Character Trailer Now Out

The game is coming early next year.

Story Highlights

  • Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is a brand-new RPG that’s slated for release in early 2024.
  • The game has just received a trailer from the side of the devs that showcases more of the two protags.
  • Both Red and Antea are lovers who are intertwined with each other through death, unfortunately.

I personally have hopes for the upcoming Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, a third-person RPG that draws inspiration from the likes of the latest God of War reboot. From the looks of it, Ghosts of New Eden will put heavy emphasis on the plot and the story, placing the two protagonists in the focal point as the title unravels their story and brings them to their narrative culmination.

There’s a rather scarcity of reveals in this new “Character Trailer” but it’s just enough showing to elaborate on what players can expect from the story side of Ghosts of New Eden. The romance dynamic between Red and Antea seems true to life, expanding on both love and conflict. The trailer highlights that although both characters love each other, their personalities differ substantially, and this ought to come to light mid-game.

For those not in the know, Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden was supposed to be released on November 7, 2023, but the developer, Don’t Nod, decided to move its launch to next year, citing an “an intense release cycle for AAA titles on PC and consoles at the end of the year” as the primary reason for the decision. Of course, these last couple of months of 2023 were indeed stacked with huge heavy hitters, such as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Alan Wake 2, and others.

The publisher, Focus Entertainment, regularly keeps uploading pertinent videos of Ghosts of New Eden on its YouTube channel. The following is an overview of the game’s combat basics, should you choose to check them out. Oh, and if you find the gameplay a tad too similar to 2018’s God of War, that’s probably because the title actually tried to impart Santa Monica’s creativity with its own unique spin, the developer confirmed in an interview last month.

Banishers: Ghost of New Eden now has a firm release date of February 13, 2024, for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with French studio Don’t Nod Entertainment helming the project, which has previously worked on the likes of Life is Strange, including its sequel, Vampyr, and Jusant. The game was announced during last year’s The Game Awards.
