Story Highlights

  • The bug was found by Nick, a Youtuber, who warned users through a tweet.
  • Without insurance, gamers risk losing their vehicles forever if they end up crashing and destroying them.
  • The cause of the glitch is not known.

Last week, Rockstar released a massive update for GTA Online, called the GTA Online San Andreas Mercenaries, to a largely negative response from the fans. Now merely days after the update a new bug has appeared in the game which threatens to ruin the progress made by GTA Online players. The strange bug has resulted in the mysterious deletion of insurance on vehicles.

The glitch was discovered by Nick, a Youtuber who live streams the game, who saw that the vehicles stored in his garage were no longer insured. He warned other players of it on his Twitter. And he urged them to check their garages through a tweet. The players were shocked at the discovery of this.

Moreover, this glitch in GTA Online can have a catastrophic effect on the playability of the game. Because without insurance on their vehicles, players run the risk of losing their prized vehicles forever once they get destroyed. We have to keep in mind that most of the users have been playing GTA Online for years now. They have put in long hours spanning several years collecting different kinds of vehicles.

Now, this bug holds the potential to lay waste to all that progress and ruin the years-long work put in by players. The effects of the malfunction have already been felt by those who were unaware of its existence and lost their valued cars in the process. Moreover, the response from the fans was very harsh and most of them did hold back in showing their disappointment.

Many wondered if there was even one thing Rockstar can do right with GTA Online because, for a few years instead of being taken care of, the bugs have been piling up in the game. Some speculated that maybe the studio is just trying to squeeze out as much money as possible from the game, while also shifting focus on the development of GTA 6, leaving GTA Online fans out in the cold.

The source of the bug is still not known. Despite that, many have already pointed to the GTA Online San Andreas Mercenaries update as the potential source. Nevertheless, this can only be confirmed by Rockstar who are yet to comment on the situation. Rockstar has been in hot waters recently. Merely days ago they faced fierce backlash for removing nearly 200 cars and putting some behind a paywall in the GTA Online San Andreas Mercenaries update.
