GTA Trilogy: The Definitive Edition appears to have been internally delayed by Rockstar Games, as there has still not been a release on the Epic Games Store despite the announcement on January 19th, 2023. It was noted to arrive before the end of last month.

However, the compilation did release on the Steam storefront about two weeks ago. Rockstar Games revealed its arrival alongside the Steam port in an official write-up. Regardless, the developers have decided to withhold the collection of nostalgic remasters from release without any official announcements or details.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is also currently available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via the Rockstar Games Launcher — and will release later in January on the Epic Games store,” noted the official reveal.

No arrival on the Epic Games Store has led to a plethora of speculations among the fans within the community. It is possible that the developers decided not to release GTA Trilogy: The Definitive Edition on Epic Games Store because it was not ready yet.

The lousy release on the Steam storefront did cause a lot of hype for the compilation to drain away and led to players asking why Rockstar Games even released the GTA Trilogy on Steam. The fans, including the trusted leaker billbil-kun, have shared a statement on Twitter showcasing their disdain for Rockstar Games.

Billbil-kun was also among the leakers that alleged the arrival of GTA Trilogy on both the Steam and Epic Games Store. GTA Trilogy: The Definitive Edition’s release on Steam was full of bugs and the same-old broken state as the previous launch on Rockstar Games’ exclusive launcher.

The developers may use the extra time to polish the compilation as much as possible before its launch on the Epic Games Store, and we may receive a new patch squashing a large number of remaining bugs with the release. All in all, many fans have shared their own opinions regarding the matter.

Rockstar has also internally delayed projects from release before, so it is not all that surprising. However, there are chances that the developers are having trouble with the Epic Games Store behind the curtains.

We may see the release of GTA Trilogy: The Definitive Edition in the next few days since the studio would have otherwise given us an update. On the other hand, Rockstar Games may announce a new date if the internal delay takes a while.

GTA Trilogy: The Definitive Edition was released with a surfeit of visual and gameplay improvements to conform as a wistful throwback to the stellar classics.

Despite its myriad of flaws, the remastered triad of entries brought features like enhanced lighting and shadows, improved models and animations, resonant audio, high-quality vehicles, and enriched 4K resolution support.

What are your thoughts about Rockstar Games delaying GTA Trilogy: The Definitive Edition from the Epic Games Store despite the reveal? Do you think the giant conglomerate is having internal troubles with the storefront? Do let us know your opinions in the comments below.
