Liquid Swords Studio Partners With NetEase Games, Receives Investment

However, the studio will retain full control over their projects in the brewer.

Avalanche Studios founder and former COO Christofer Sundberg established the new indie studio Liquid Swords with a bright team under its belt. Christofer led the development of the original Just Cause and assisted the franchise, maturing it from an obscure game into a successful franchise.

Moreover, the ex-COO turned Avanalche Studios into a global figure in the gaming industry, with its studios spanning across the globe. All these achievements only lifted the community’s anticipations for the newly-birthed indie development studio.

And so far, the progress has been good, with Liquid Swords working on its future endeavors with passion and enthusiasm. However, the new announcement made by the team opens even more doors for its prosperous future.

Major Takeaway:

  • Liquid Swords, a relatively-new indie studio, has recently announced a partnership with NetEase Games and received an investment.
  • The studio will continue to operate independently and keep full control over the projects in development.
  • The investment will help the developers better realize their current and future projects.
  • No significant changes will be made to the team’s vision and our expectations from the studio.

Liquid Swords studio recently announced its partnership with NetEase Games and revealed the news of an investment in a new press report. NetEase Games is among China’s leading online games service providers. The grant received by the colossal Chinese company is aimed at funding the goals and ideals of Liquid Swords studio.

Liquid Swords’ founder states, “NetEase Games has been exceptionally supportive from the very get-go, believing in our high ambitions and quality-focused approach to game development. We are very pleased to have them as our partners on this adventure and with their support, we can begin to realize the vision for our studio.

Both companies have partnered to cooperate in funding the highly-ambitious goals of Liquid Swords studio, which is currently developing an open-world AAA single-player project. The investment will aid the costs and may even bump up the prospect of the initial project. Moreover, the vision will remain the same without any changes.

NetEase Games’ president, Simon Zhu, articulated, “We believe in the creativity of Liquid Swords and share their passion for building open-world games and experiences. They have built a strong, experienced team and we are very excited to partner with them as they begin their journey of creating something amazing for gamers worldwide.

The fans have commemorated the event, but some showed worry. Liquid Swords, however, has stated that it will remain fully independent. In other words, all its current and future projects will retain control without any involvement from NetEase Games.

In the announcement, the studio stated, “Liquid Swords, founded by game-development luminary Christofer Sundberg, will continue to operate independently.” Moreover, while replying to a comment on its Twitter Handle, Liquid Swords studio cited, “We retain FULL creative control over our own video-game development and projects.

Liquid Swords studio blends the expertise of an experienced team in the gaming industry. As stated in the press release, “The development team is a mix of experts, who have contributed to franchises including Just Cause, Battlefield, GTA, and PayDay.” A lot of hopes surround its upcoming future projects.
