Spyro the Dragon: Reignited Trilogy, You Will Need To Download 2 And 3 After Launch

Activision Releases Official Statement

If you get Spyro the Dragon: Reignited Trilogy in the physical form, you will only be able to play the first game. You will need to download 2 and 3. That is not something that the fans appreciate. One of the reasons people buy physics games is so that they do not need to download anything. Yes, we do need to download small updates but that is still better than downloading an entire game.

When you get Spyro the Dragon: Reignited Trilogy, Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage and Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon will not be on the disk and you will need to download these titles seperately. You can imagine why fans are pissed with this. Downloading 2 whole games can take up time and that is not what people want when they are getting physical games.

Some people do not have fast internet and that is why they are bound to buying physical games instead. The following is what Activision had to say in this regard:

The global launch date of Spyro Reignited Trilogy is Sept. 21, and we’re excited for fans to play all three reignited games on that day. As with most games today, downloading an update after purchase is quite common. The language on packaging and on the web is to let players know the requirements for Spyro Reignited Trilogy.

I am sure that there is going to be plenty of backlash as the fans are not going to be pleased at all. This is very misleading, to say the least, and companies need to be very clear regarding such matters. I think that if players need to download then other 2 games then they might as well download the first one as well, keeping in mind that there are often discounts on digital copies that you do not get on physical disks.

It will be interesting to see what the fans have to say regarding the matter and how fans react to the official statement. Spyro the Dragon: Reignited Trilogy is coming out on Septemer 21st and if you are a fan of the series then this is something that you can check out.
