A State of Decay 2 player has had a similar experience, but Undead Labs has gone above and beyond to show support. As per a Reddit post by u/EmbarassedBudget859, the studio memorialized his father in the game as a playable survivor.

Initially, the player had only asked the State of Decay 2 devs to add his father’s name as a tribute to one of the survivors. But after three years, he’s discovered that there’s a whole playable character dedicated to him with traits and other characteristics that match him. Unsurprisingly, the Redditor is extremely grateful to the studio for the kind memorabilia.
State Of Decay 2 Devs Have Responded To The Wholesome Moment
The devs were quick to recognize the player on Twitter and issued a little statement to console him. Undead Labs has congratulated EmbarrassedBudget for finally stumbling upon the wholesome easter egg. Similarly, players have admired the touching gesture by the studio and shown support for the player.
