Story Highlights
- Cyberpunk 2077 has released a new update that adds the much-anticipated Nvidia’s DLSS 3 and Reflex technologies. The update requires 6.6 GB of storage on Steam to download.
- However, the new update does not add the anticipated new Overdrive Ray Tracing effects. Moreover, it increases the frame rates while adding more to the visual appeal.
- The DLSS 3 will produce more frames, causing the title to appear nearly in 4K while running in lower quality.
- The DLSS 3 is supported on the new Nvidia 4000 GPU lineup and also requires hardware-accelerated GPU Scheduling.
Cyberpunk 2077 has received quite a substantial update that adds Nvidia’s Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) 3 upscaling tech today. The new update is available on PC, which will significantly enhance the entry’s performance in various ways. It can be downloaded on PC for free, as announced recently by CD Projekt Red.

The frame rate will see a vast growth in both 1440p and 4K quality with DLSS 3. The patch also brings the Nvidia Reflex tech in Cyberpunk 2077, which will balance out the inflated latency caused by using the DLSS 3 tech. However, the AAA game is not impeded by major input latency problems caused by DLSS 3 like some other titles.
Moreover, the new patch consumes a decent size of 6.6 GB to download on the Steam storefront. Unfortunately, the latest update does not bring the desired Overdrive Ray tracing effects hinted for the game in the past. We suspect the new mode is still in the brewer, as it was not mentioned; we may not hear about it for a while.
Nvidia first tested the new DLSS 3 technology on Cyberpunk 2077 a few months ago for its 4000 graphics card lineup. Since then, fans have been anticipating its arrival after it was initially teased for the game.
If you are unfamiliar, the new DLSS 3 technology uses the wonders of AI to improve the frame rates on your PC. In other words, it creates whole new frames in between the original ones to boost a game’s performance to the moon.
Cyberpunk 2077 will wholly benefit from the new upscaling methods of DLSS 3 while providing enchanting visuals. It will upscale the resolutions using machine learning techniques; for example, a game running on 1080p may feel like it’s playing in 4K.
On the other hand, Nvidia Reflex will deliver the lowest latency and best responsiveness to ensure the DLSS 3 does not cause increased input delay. Both technologies will complement each other in Cyberpunk 2077. Regardless, the DLSS 3 must meet some prerequisites before smoothly running in the game.
The DLSS Frame Generation requires a GeForce RTX 40 Series graphics card and Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling being enabled in operating system,” read CD Projekt Red‘s support page.
Furthermore, the developers recommend Cyberpunk 2077 players enable upscaling (DLSS) on graphics cards with 16GB or less of VRAM and 1440p or higher resolution.
The game will run smoothly with enthralling visuals while achieving greater frame rates than ever before with the new DLSS 3 upscaling technology. Cyberpunk 2077 has also received unofficial DLSS support many a time in the past via mods, showcasing its high demand within the community.
CD Projekt Red’s new IP has been through its ups and downs since its eventful release; the player base saw a significant resurgence a few months ago, partially due to the release of its anime adaptation, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. The last few updates and the DLSS 3 will further drive the game to its imagined exemplary state.
What are your thoughts about CD Projekt Red finally bringing the anticipated DLSS 3 frame upscaling and the Reflex technology to Cyberpunk 2077? Do you think the game will see further enhancements in its frame rates? Do let us know your opinions in the comments below.
