Naota Hiroaka Has Confirmed That Persona 6 Is in the Works

What began as a spin-off series has now accumulated a fanbase deeper than the mainline franchise. Persona offers turn-based RPG gameplay and has six major parts to date. The latest game of this series is Persona 5 Royal which is an enhanced edition of the base Persona 5 game but boasts newer content.

Persona 5 was launched back in 2016 and the series hasn’t seen a new mainline game ever since. That said, a website for celebrating Persona’s 25th anniversary was created lately, with other subtle hints being dropped for a possible Persona 6 title to be in the works. In addition, franchise developer Atlus has seven Persona-related projects waiting to be publicly announced, and we have no idea what they can be, apart from one.

It seems that the game director Naota Hiroaka has basically confirmed Persona 6, as reported by Persona Central. The word from the man came from a recent job posting on Green, which appears to be a Japanese iteration of LinkedIn.

What gives it away is Hiroaka’s comment on the future of Persona. “Thanks to the large amount of support we received for Persona 5, we have gotten a sense of accomplishment. But we can’t stop there. When we created Persona 4, there was pressure that it had to exceed Persona 3. Now, we will have to create a 6 which exceeds 5. However, exceeding 5 will be difficult with the current staff. I would like to surpass this tall hurdle with everyone who joins us in this recruitment.”

An announcement this big usually entails a reveal event of some sort, but there’s a first time for everything, we presume. Fans can now look forward to the upcoming Persona announcements planned by the developer, which will, sure enough, comprise Persona 6 going live.

There’s certainly going to be a substantial amount of pressure on the developer’s shoulders for the upcoming Persona title. Expectations are set, and it never turns out well for either side if they aren’t met. Hiroaka has casually stated this in the job listing thereby confirming Persona 6.
