Story Highlights
- Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is the sequel to the critically acclaimed Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice.
- Per our sources, the title will launch on May 21, 2024.
- Developer Ninja Theory is plotting to announce its release date during Xbox’s Developer_Direct.
Update: The Xbox Developer_Direct has since confirmed the reported May 21 release date of Hellblade 2.
Among Avowed, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2, and others, Xbox’s exclusive line-up for 2024 is looking fairly promising. One of the games I’m most thrilled about in this regard is Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, the sequel to Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice from 2017 and a major proponent of next-gen gaming to look forward to this year.
The Xbox Games Showcase which aired live back in June 2023, gave out a release window for Hellblade 2 after a substantial period of wait, but now, sources close to me have revealed that the game has a set release date of May 21, 2024. Due to the matter of the informant’s anonymity, I cannot disclose the source’s origin, but the information is reliable enough to be talked about ahead of time.
As the community knows it so already, Xbox is gearing up for its second Developer_Direct two days from now, and developer Ninja Theory also plans on taking up a chunk of the event to dive deep into Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2. I expect the studio to reveal the official release date of the action-adventure as well during its time in the spotlight.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2’s Initial Announcement And Reveal
For those not in the know, it has been a fairly long while since Hellblade 2 was first shown off to the masses for the Xbox Series X|S as an exclusive title. In fact, it was 4 years ago when Xbox revealed the title at The Game Awards 2019, advertising what appeared to be a top-shelf game (still is) for the company’s then-latest home video game console.
To speak of the leap in the sequel and the first game, perhaps you’d like to take Ninja Theory’s director Tameem Antoniades’ word more than mine. An interview with NME in 2022 had Tameem say the following about Hellblade 2, and let me tell you this, there’s no hyperbole in here.
The goal with Hellblade 2 isn’t to perfect it, but to create an experience that feels more believable and more refined. Its ambition in terms of scale is bigger. I think Hellblade 2 will make Hellblade look like an indie game.”
