COD Players Using Aim Assist With Mouse And Keyboard Will Have Their Game Shut Down

The COD ecosystem has been strained by cheaters ever since the franchise rose to fame. The devs have also been trying a slew of ways over the years to curb bad actors from exploiting features or outright cheating in the games. Now, the Activision team has announced on Twitter that its AI-infused security detection systems will outright close the game if a PC player using a mouse and keyboard is found using tools that activate aim assist.

The simple yet humourous strategy aims to stop PC players that use tools to activate aim assist features in Call of Duty games. Aim Assist is a robust tool that is meant to help controller users keep up with the scene that uses mouse and keyboard. The feature meant to aid gamers becomes quite exploitative when it falls into the hands of users who play the COD titles using KBM. Therefore, the devs want to stop the issue from recurring. 

However, not everyone in the community has welcomed the feature with open arms. Many players are quite upset at the COD devs for showing leniency to such PC players. The post mentions that only repeated use of these tools can lead to further punishment, which is allegedly not enough to stop the problem in its tracks. Therefore, the Call of Duty players just want the studio to ban the bad actors using aim assist on PC with KBM.

This is not the first time Activision has adopted new measures to deal with exploiters recently. The MW3 devs evidently banned over 23,000 player accounts for cheating just as the year ended —the devs used AI detectors that were installed to find bad actors. The campaign was quite successful, but it also caused a lot of strays to be caught in the skirmish. As a result, many innocents were banned without partaking in any suspicious activity.

Alongside MW2 and Warzone 2, the new feature by the devs is also added in the latest title of the series, Modern Warfare 3. It came out on November 10, 2023, for Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. eXputer’s Huzaifah Durrani reviewed the FPS with a 2/5 score and called it “one of worst games” he has reviewed yet. It was criticized due to a lousy campaign, flawed mission design, and uninventive multiplayer.
