The Sims 5’s PC and Android pre-release builds have seemingly leaked online, with download links already circulating on the internet. The PC build has been reported to be working, while the Android one still has issues that need to be resolved. The leak has also confirmed that the game uses the Unreal 4 or 5 Engine instead of EA’s proprietary Frostbite. One pet peeve is that the PC version reportedly contains Denuvo.
The discovery of Denuvo has worried the community since it is often attributed to causing performance hiccups in games. However, EA may remove it from the final build before releasing Project Rene. It may have been included to protect the in-dev builds from leaking, which appears to have failed.
EA may also have included Denuvo to protect the DLCs. The game will be a free-to-play project, so it will make money off the paid DLCs that will come ahead of the launch. The Sims franchise has also been a massive target of piracy over the years, so protecting the DLCs could only be possible with DRM software. This theory suggests that the Denuvo DRM will likely stay in The Sims 5 PC builds in the future.

The leaked builds are spreading across the forums and around various sites. However, images of a pre-alpha build were leaked two years ago and were struck down by the devs soon after. The devs will also likely take quick and strict action against The Sims 5 leaked build files. However, EA has not released an official statement so far.
