2020 for Gamers has been full of Joy. So far some fantastic titles like Ghost of Tsushima, Microsoft Flight Simulator, and Half-Life: Alyx have been released. Other than this, some dozens of games like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Cyberpunk 2077, Crash Bandicoot 4, Watch Dogs Legion, and many more along with next-gen consoles are scheduled for late 2020.
Now other than the games that have already been confirmed. We still have some incredible titles that are consistently making it to the news with leaks. These titles might release this year, and In this article, we are only going to talk about the games that have realistic chances to be released this year. That is to say, they have had promising leaks and indications that point to a 2020 release. Likewise, we won’t talk about games like GTA 6 and God of War 3, that have zero to no odds of getting released this year.
Need For Speed Hot Pursuit Remaster
We already know that EA had publicly announced that a new Need For Speed Game is in development by Criterion Games. General Manager of Criterion, Matt Webster Acknowledged the announcement and said “we’ll create the most expressive, most socially connected, the action-packed game yet for Need for Speed fans and beyond.”
Well, it seems that the new game was Burnout Paradise Remaster, however, another Need For Speed Game is also in development and is rumored to be released this year. The game is the 2010 Need For Speed Hot Pursuit which is apparently getting a remaster.
The news was first confirmed by industry insider Jeff Grubb, who said that he had confirmed this from numerous authentic sources who are aware of the project. His Article popped up in June after EA confirmed that seven new games were coming to Switch in the next 12 months.
“You can expect seven new games coming to Switch [from EA] in the next 12 months,” Respawn social media boss Alex Ackerman said. “[That includes] Burnout Paradise coming [June 19] and Apex Legends later this year.”
According to Jeff and his analyses, Need For Speed Hot Pursuit Remaster is one of the games, that will join Switch this year.
Well, things have gotten a little serious lately. A few days ago on August 16, an Amazon Listing in the UK for Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit Remaster Showed up. The Listing was very promising and mentioned an Xbox One and Nintendo Switch Release.
In addition, it said that the game would release on November 13, which sounds very promising. Usually, all Need For Speed Games are released in November, and we aren’t far from it. Likewise, expect some details and announcements from EA in the coming months.
Not gonna lie, but I was always a big fan of the Need For Speed Hot Pursuit series. All three games of the series were epic and total arcade. I think this is a very bright decision by EA to revive the 2010 Cops and Robbers Racing Game.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2.
I know Breath of the Wild 2 sounds like a dream, but right now a lot of fingers are indicating a 2020 Release. A Very Popular European Distributor WT&T posted a listing for Breath of the Wild 2.
The listing mentioned two variants, standard and Collector’s edition. The Standard was listed at t €69,99, while the Collector’s Edition was available for €82,85.
Well of course this was a placeholder, considering the release date is being specified without the company’s announcement. Other than this, the prices aren’t too specific but just to let you know WT&T was on point with The Witcher 3 leak.
If you don’t know, WT&T was able to leak The Witcher 3 listing for Switch in December 2018. The listing at first was ignored because it mentioned the wrong PEGI Rating and there was no EAN Code. Surprisingly, Nintendo announced The Witcher 3 for Switch next year, and fans were completely blown away.
Now other than WT&T, popular Nintendo leaker Sabi, who was given a warning letter to not leak any more Nintendo games after E3 2019 also said that “Breath of the Wild 2 is planned to release in 2020”. His statements go all the way back to 2019, and a year later things are getting spicy.
WT&T Listing does sound authentic and I think Breath of the Wild 2 can certainly release this year. We have seen Nintendo shadow dropping numerous games, and right now they are acting like Rockstar, announcing games out of nowhere. Other than this, We are very hopeful that the game will be announced in the Nintendo Direct 2020, which is scheduled for late August.
Prince Of Persia
Post-2000 gamers will always remember Prince of Persia, especially The Sands of Time. The game was remarkable, and everyone who knew a bit about games played it. The game is often regarded as one of the best adventure games by Ubisoft, and its reputation is impeccable across all platforms.
You will be pleased to hear that a possible Prince of Persia Game might release this year. The news came into the spotlight when a popular Guatemalan game retailing website Max listed the Prince of Persia Remake. The game was not only listed on Max, but several other French, American, and Canadian sites. Like many other listings that are published a bit earlier, and then removed. This was no different, however, a Twitter user was able to get its screenshot.
The listings pointed to a PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch Release. Other than this, many folks over at Reddit noted that this is simply the Dagger of Time, the VR Prince Of Persia recently announced. However, when comparing both games, we have solid differences between their cover photos and the VR thing with Switch does not make any sense.
In addition to this, Jason Schrier, who is a very trustworthy source in the gaming industry, also confirmed that this was supposed to be a surprise by Ubisoft, but the retailers have spoiled it.
Video game retailers sure love leaking Ubisoft's surprise announcements https://t.co/3BP8pbgdBK

Everything looks very positive, and I don’t see why a Prince of Persia Remake wouldn’t happen. The game is a fan favorite, and the revival of classic games is a trend nowadays. We see the likes of Mafia Games, Resident Evil Franchise, and many more getting revived. Hopefully, we will see an official announcement about Prince of Persia in the upcoming Ubisoft Forward.
Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War
Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War is having all sorts of leaks lately. The game first showed up on Microsoft Store by the name of Red Door and had all the COD details in its description. Afterward, it showed up on Dorritos promotion that was shared on Twitter and got everyone excited.
The serious announcement came after Raven Software and Treyarch Studious confirmed that they were developing a COD Game. It was a sort of confirmation and now it seems that a new Call of Duty game is certain. So far Activision has not spoken about the game, but I’m very certain that a new COD game is actually happening.
It’s official. Looking forward to showing you what we’ve been cooking up with @RavenSoftware!
— Treyarch Studios (@Treyarch) August 4, 2020
Update: While writing this article, Activision has just confirmed that Call of Duty Cold War is official. The game is based on the Cold War and is set to release on August 26. Pretty great news! here is the trailer.
Mass Effect Remastered Trilogy
Mass Effect Remastered Trilogy is making to the headlines day and day out. The game by BioWare was an absolute fan favorite, and back in the day, it was really popular. EA earlier this year said that they were planning to release dozens of new games. Along with that, they also mentioned that they will be releasing a remaster or remake of a fan-favorite franchise, which has ever since been pointed to Mass Effect Remastered Trilogy.
The Mass Effect Remastered Trilogy rumors first started when industry insider Jeff Grubb commented on EA”s 14 new game announcements. According to him, the HD title mentioned in EA”s announcement will be BioWare’s sci-fi RPG series. Later, he confirmed that it was in fact Mass Effect Remastered Trilogy, and said it might not come to switch.
“Oh, and that HD remake of an EA game is the Mass Effect Trilogy. Just don’t expect that to also launch on Switch — at least not at first.” Jeff Grubb on Twitter
Jeff later mentioned the Remaster in his Summer Game Mess List. Jason Schreier also confirmed that Mass Effect Remastered Trilogy is in development. However, he pointed to a 2021 release.
Other than the usual confirmation and insider sources. Popular UK Game Retailer “GAME” Listed Mass Effect Trilogy Remaster, and was available for pre-order. Numerous individuals from Reddit pre-ordered the game and also received proper details about the game. This all meant one thing, that the listing was a slip. Here are the invoice pictures and details from those who pre-ordered the game.
A few days later, the game’s release date was pushed from September 2020 to October 2020. On top of that, the users were later told that the game wasn’t available. A photo on Twitter was leaked from the GAME UK Store that mentioned the schedule of all upcoming games.
A Reddit user claimed that he worked at the game, and said the listing was very promising. He claimed that “This date is way too specific and too soon to be a place holder. Not to mention that you can put a monetary value down as a deposit, which only happens if a Publisher has specifically implied GAME is going to be receiving stock of the game.”
All fingers point in a very positive direction. Playing a remaster of Mass Effect Trilogy would be a dream come true. I’ll highly recommend everyone to watch the upcoming Gamescom event because we are hopeful that Mass Effect Remaster Trilogy will be announced.
Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
If you think that Breath of The Wild 2 is the only game from Nintendo coming this year, you are wrong. Very recently, Legend of Zelda; Skyward Sword showed up on Amazon UK. The listing pointed to a Switch release and mentioned a price point of £69.99. Other than this, it was also published by Nintendo official, so there isn’t any bug involved here. Most likely it was a slip. The listing as always was deleted a few hours later, but a Twitter user was able to grab its screenshot and published it.
Now what makes the timing very interesting is that first of all, we are only one year away from the 35th Anniversary of Zelda. On top of that, the 10th Anniversary of Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is also approaching. The most important part is that the producer of Legend of Zelda Series Aonuma indicated a Switch Release of Skyward Sword in 2018. He was live in a Japanese Show, and the game’s actress Shimamura mentioned that “It definitely makes you want to play ‘Skyward Sword’ again! If only they released on Switch…”
Aonuma replied to this saying “Are you sure you don’t want to ask about a Switch version of ‘Skyward Sword? which in 2018 sounded like a sarcastic joke, but now it seems that he actually meant it. Skyward Sword was a great game, and playing an enhanced version of the game on Switch can be very fun.
BioShock 4
A New BioShock Game has come to discussions after a job listing posted by Cloud Chamber mentioned that developers of BioShock working on a new game. The Cloud Chamber Studios is actually formed by 2K, the developers of most BioShock Games. Here are the exact words from the hiring page.
“Cloud Chamber is hard at work on the next entry in the critically acclaimed BioShock series. Our team consists of veteran BioShock developers and expert game makers from other mind-blowing titles, and together we’re going to create worlds that you’ll want to experience.”
Other than this, they also published a picture that shows the first three games in sequence, and then the empty next picture, that I’m going to assume these studious are going to fill.
From the job openings page, the developers have shared some key features of the upcoming BioShock game. Things like Unreal Engine 4 is mentioned. In addition, it says “New and Fantastical World”, that means a completely different meta.
AAA First Person shooter, Multi-platform, visually stunning textures, and many more things are mentioned that all point to BioShock 4. Now there are high chances that the game could be released in late 2020, but considering their job posting, and the type of experts they require. It seems there is more work to be done, and like IGI Origins, this also might jump to 2021, we’ll see.
Takeaways
Some pretty fantastic titles are yet to be released, and things are just getting better for gamers in 2020. About the leaks and rumors, I think that most of the games mentioned in this article are going to make it in the coming months. These games have consistently made it to the discussions with promising leaks, and right now things are getting very spicy. Other than this, some of these games make a lot of sense, like Prince of Persia, which is completely lost. Need For Speed Hot Pursuit is also a fan favorite game, and reviving it can prove to be a success. The same goes for Mass Effect and other games.
Many other studios are reviving their old games with new remasters and remakes. Subsequently, it’s working quite well for them, and every other day there is a new sales record set by these sorts of games. We are hopeful that upcoming events will give us some insights into these games.
