Once you get all the bosses, a random encounter mod also unlocks that throws a random boss at you at the end of your run. That is why I have curated this guide and listed how to unlock all bosses and briefly explained the best way to beat each one of them.
- There are 6 bosses in No Return mode of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered.

- Unlocking all bosses unlocks the Randomized Bosses mod.
All Bosses In The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered No Return
Here is a quick look at all the bosses in No Return Mode, and how to unlock them all.

2 | Theater Infestation | Defeat the Arcade Bloater |
3 | Rattler Captain | Defeat the Theater Infestation |
4 | Garage Bloater | Defeat the Rattler Captain |

Arcade Bloater
In The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered’s No Return game mode, the Arcade Bloater is a formidable boss encountered as the first boss. This grotesquely mutated enemy is an advanced form of the standard Bloater, characterized by its massive size and the ability to release poisonous spores at its targets.
To defeat the Arcade Bloater efficiently, target its exposed, fungal growths on the body. Utilize high-powered weapons and explosives to exploit its weakness. Precise aiming and strategic use of resources are essential for overcoming this challenging encounter in the unforgiving No Return game mode.
Theater Infestation
In The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered’s No Return game mode, the Theater Infestation boss is a harrowing encounter, representing a mass of infected creatures intertwined and mutated into one clicker-like enemy. This ugly-looking amalgamation poses a unique challenge with its random movements and varied attack patterns.
To kill the Theater Infestation, focus on hitting the main boss and avoid taking out clickers and shamblers in the boss fight arena. High-damage weapons and strategic use of resources are crucial to go through an intense battle. Otherwise, you will be crowded by all enemies and could die by wasting resources.
Rattler Captain & Faction
The Rattler Captain boss fight occurs in the Rattler’s camp. You will be surrounded by random enemies with guns and dogs sniffing for your scent if you get too close. The map is big and since this is a human-sized boss, finding it first will be a real problem.
Look for the enemy wearing a skull mask. This is the Rattler Captain and he is much easier to defeat when you compare it with the likes of Theater Infestation and Arcade Bloater boss fights. A couple of shotgun shots or a few handgun headshots will kill the Rattler Captain instantly, but then you will also need to clear the camp from the rest of the enemies.
Garage Bloater
Garage Bloated Boss is similar to the Aracade encounter, with a few exceptions of course. This time you get a vast abandoned and semi-flooded parking space that is home to infected. The easiest part of the Garage Bloater boss fight in The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered No Return mode is that you get to deal AoE damage as there are plenty of enemies to draw enemies out and throw Molotov or any other AoE weapon for effective crowd control.
The best way to beat this encounter is to bring the Garagae Bloater near the rest of the infected. Also, before you begin this encounter, try to have as many AoE weapons as possible when you’re back at the Base. Weapons such as Molotov, and Flamethrower will make this encounter easy.
Seraphite Elite
The Seraphite Elite encounters will have you up against a melee brute and a ranged but smart enemy that recalls enforcements on the brute’s position. This boss fight happens in the Seraphite territory, just above the parking garage area.
The best way to beat Seraphite Elite boss encounter is to have as many AoE weapons or throwables as possible. Also, since both of the bosses are humans, a headshot will also deal massive damage, and guns such as Tommy’s sniper could potentially one-shot if you land a headshot.
Rat King
I find the Rat King encounter to be the hardest to kill than any other boss fight of the No Return Mode in The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered. For starters, the dark hospital section of this boss fight dulls the visibility and you could potentially be running against a wall or jumping toward it before Rat King closes in on you and kills you.
Another element that makes this boss fight hard is the spawning of the Infestation enemy type from the Rat King’s body mid-fight. This makes it two threats to deal with in the dark section the boss encounters, and overall, I believe the Rat King is much more resilient to fire and other sorts of damage in the game.
Randomized Bosses
This modifier unlocks after you kill the Rat King for the first time in The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered No Return Mode. After this, you can select if any run should have a random boss spawn. This element takes away the factor of preparedness as you will never know which, out of six bosses in the game, will appear at the end of the run.
