It all started with one Tweet by Klobrille about an anniversary broadcasting but in a matter of hours it instigated a whirlwind of rumors and leaks, so let us talk about that.
Age of Empire is a franchise of historical real-time strategic video games. It was first created by Ensemble Studios and released by Xbox Game Studios. Age of Empire’s first game was published in 1997.
MAJOR TAKEAWAYS:
- Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition, which is a remaster of the 1999 game came to PC in 2019.
- There was no news about it coming to Xbox until it was spotted on PEGI.
- The game is set to be released on 25/10/22.
Recently fans have been asking the company to release the game on Xbox. Klobrille recently tweeted about informing Age of Empires fans about a 25th-anniversary broadcast.

What should have been a bitter-sweet moment was in fact met with much hostility. Many claimed that this was a cheap clickbait gimmick. While the Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition had come out on PC in 2019, there was no such news for Xbox users.
One fan said, “If there’s no news about console releases of Age of Empires then u baiting us with this tweet what would a console player get from watching? common Klobrille there’s better ways to get attention.”
See you in 2023

Many fans seemed to have similar sentiments, however, Klobrille’s reply seemed to remain nonchalant, He simply asked the fan to join the session. Now, this is the point where the bomb dropped. Hours later the Snitch joined the conversation leaving everyone shell-shocked.
He replied in the same Twitter thread saying “See you in 2023.” The rumor mill started churning immediately. Many speculated that the Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition would come out next year for Xbox players.
Fans worldwide rejoiced to hear about this, claiming that next year would be a super exciting time for Xbox players.
Another user agreed with this sentiment and said “If I was a console gamer still, I’d probably go with Xbox this gen.”
Fans were deadset on getting the game next year, well that was until Twitter users IdleSloth84 and MACOS380 spotted something extremely interesting.
In their tweets, they pointed out the fact the Pan European Game Information had in fact listed an Age of Empires game. The game’s full name was listed as Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition
Ahora ESRB. According to the PEGI website, the Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition is a:
Real Time strategy game that contains 27 single player campaigns, and competitive multiplayer mode, all set in ancient history spanning from the Dark Age through the Imperial Age. Players take control of one of 34 civilizations to build up their Empire and conquer their opponents. This is an updated and improved version of the original release.“
According to the website, the game will be available on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and even Xbox One. Their respective release dates have also been mentioned. In fact, Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition will be coming out in October, 25th 2022.
So as it turns out the Snitch had the dates completely wrong. One Twitter user humorously said, “Gonna look like a fool soon.”
Age of Empires fans are waiting to attend the anniversary broadcast to officially get the news. The broadcast will be today at 10 am PT / 1 pm EST / 6 pm BST.
